I have a textbox and what I would like to implement is basically a situation similar to what you have in google when you type in a word. In otherwords,
I am wondering if there is a way to ingest google search index into SharePoint index such that when people search via SharePoint they see the Google results too… incorporated/federated inline with the SP results (not as a separate "box"
We have Google search in our environment and also share-point search. Share-point search for sharepoint site but Google search is for all other environments. Now i am thinking if we ingest the Google search index into share-point then may be its great deal
to provide user a platform to search everything on one place.
I am using the autocompleteextender control in a project I am working on for a client, but I would like to be able to match words in the middle of the data I am searching. Controls such as the search textbox on sites like Netflix do this. For example, if I go to Netflix and search for 'wolfman' I get results like:
The Real Wolfman
House of the Wolfman
With the extender I would only get results beginning with 'wolfman'. If my stored procedure in my webservice is written to do search the text as I want, nothing shows in the extender (I'm guessing because so many top results don't begin with the entered text). Is there a way to get the autocompleteextender to behave more like this?
I'm trying to implement the google instant like search in my project but I dont have any ideas where to start it off.. Something like when I enter a character or start typing at the textbox, the list box will be populated every character I type.. anyone who can give me a heads up?

HI THERE ,
Still new. What can I add to my site to get picked up by serch engines without paying for services?
Right now if I do a search My site does not appear.
I work in SharePoint 2007. I have created "Advanced Search" page. It is the standard advanced search page and is created by choosing "search center" option when you "create site" in site settings.
The top part of this advanced search page has fields to enter search terms. This will search full text of documents. This part works.
Bottom part of the search page includes properties search. I know how to add or change those properties in the list. It is done through XML file which can be found in "Edit Page", "modify the web part", and it is in properties.
I have added a new property in this XML file but it does not appear in the drop-down list in the search page. I know that this property must exist and data has to be populated in at least one record for this property to show up in the drop-down list. This
has been done and still the added property does not show up in the drop-down list in the search page.
What else do I need to do to make properties search work?
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
