In my last column, I discussed Microsoftî Application Center Test and how it could be used to measure the performance of your Web application (see Extreme ASP. NET: Tools of the Trade: Application Center Test).

This article provides an overview of the concepts involved with implementing a trading partner integration system on BizTalk Server 2000 and details the document interchange server architecture and toolset. Additionally, an early look was taken at some business process integration features planned for the production release of the product that allow easy design, execution and sharing of new business processes with trading partners. The concepts and architecture presented allow companies to prepare internal line-of-business applications and trading partners for systems that improve customer service and reduce operating costs.

I am attempting to install SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Trial and receive the follow error during installation.
"The SQL Server 2005 Express Tools are installed. To continue, remove the SQL Server 2005 Express Tools."
I have used Add or Remove programs to remove all components of SQL Server 2005 Express.ÃÂ I have even reinstalled the Workstation Tools of SQL Server 2005 just so I could indiviually remove those tools, and then completly removed the SQL 2005 installation.
I have used regedit to search for any instance of SQL Server 2005, there is none.
There is still an entry for SQL Server Mangement Express in my all programs listing.ÃÂ However trying to launch that program fails with errors, so it is partial still installed.
Can anyone tell me how to wipe out these last bits of SQL Server 2005 Express Tools?ÃÂ I have tried everything I have found searching this forum to no avail.
Could you please advise me on this issue.
I have installed sql server 2000 client tools, and complete set up of sql server 2005 on my system.
The enterprise manager on sql 2000, crashes and and window vanishes, when ever i try to create DTS package.
They doubt its becos i am runnning both instance of sql server on the same machine- So its having some compactability issues.?
Can we run SQL server 2000, 2005 and 2008 on same machine with different instance ?
I am using windows 7 and i3 processor.
Thanks in advance.
I am a little confused about how to install my application. Written in C# using VS 2010 and targeted for the .NET 4 Framework. It also uses a SQL Server 2008 R2 database.
In my installer I install .NET 4 Framework if not already present on the host machine.
For SQL Server 2008 R2 (with Tools) I understood I need Installer 4.5 and Powershell 1.0. The install of install of 4.5 installer goes ok but requires a reboot. The install of Powershell says it needs .NET Framework 2 SP2 - even tho' .NET 4 is
I decide to ignore this and carry on so manually install SQL Server 2008 R2 Express (with Tools). It unpacks and complains it needs .NET Framework 3.5 SP1!
My application has to deploy to a disconnected machine installed in the cab of a logging harvester so I can't rely on automatic wwindows updates.
To deploy my app with SQL Server 2008 R2 (with Tools) do I need ...
I had presumed all I would would be .NET Framework 4 since it is "mostly" backwardly compatible.
Install time and complexity is HUGE is I need all three Frameworks.
Can someone please clarify for me?
I am looking for best solution to perform incremental data load from MySQL database to SQL Server 2008. I tried to follow instructions from articles on incremental data load in SSIS using MD5 hashes but I failed to make connection in Lookup transformation
editor between MySQL Id (4 byte unsigned integer) and Id in SQl Server 2008 table which is bigint. i tried to add data conversion and convert MySQl Id to string. It works fine when you map this field directly to OLEDB destination but in Lookup
component it failed.
Any input greatly appriciated.
I am trying to store a SQL Server datetime into MySQL datetime field, but MySQL stores the date value as all zeros. I use this function to trim the fractional part from the SQL Server datetime, but get the same result when trying to store it in MySQL.
Dim tDate As String = sqlDate.ToString()
tDate = tDate.Substring(0, tDate.Length - 4)

How much can affect the performance heavily loaded sql-server intensive use of such tools as SQL Server Profiler ?
I am trying to install sql server 2005 client tools and I get the following error:

How can I go about this
I've recently upgraded from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2008. My accounting and marketing team is skilled and has been using SQL Query Analyzer for years to run smaller queries and build small Crystal Reports. Unfortunately Query Analyzer is
now bundled into the management studio. That's a bit too much software for this level of power users.
Is there a client-side query analyzer for SQL Server 2008? I'd rather use a Microsoft product than a 3rd party tool, but I suppose I could do that too. Looking for something simple that will:
1. Show users the database tables and/or views
2. Run queries
Perhaps query analyzer isn't the way to go and my team needs a different reporting system. If this is the way MS is heading, could you direct me towards a product or service that allows power users to get the information they need? They will
still need to look at raw data to build Crystal Reports though.
