Coloring sql reporting services report depending on the change of value of a certain field

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Hey guys, I have an SSRS report that looks something like this: Column1 Column2 Row1 2 A Row2 2 B Row3 2 C Row4 6 A Row5 11 E How can I color the rows with the same value in Column1 with the same color? for example Row1 to Row3 would have one color, Row4 would have a different color, then I'd go back to Row1's color for Row5? note: I don't know in advance the numbers returned in Column1. I query for them and then I hide them from the user so Column1 shouldn't show on the report, but I want to use it for the coloring only.

Data Points: Report Controls in SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services

Reporting has always been one of the dark arts of development. The tools typically seem to do just enough to get you to a certain point, then leave you to find workarounds to solve more complex issues.

SharePoint 2010 Reporting Services report on sharepoint list rsExecutionNotFound

I cannot get SQL Reporting Services 2008 R2 to work with a datasource that is a sharepoint list.  Reporting services seems to work fine setup in SharePoint 2010 Integrated mode. When I try and run a report that is based on a sharepoint list, I immediatly get the following error: The report execution tp15sp4515l3seqqo4do3e45 has expired or cannot be found. (rsExecutionNotFound) This seems to be something I am doing wrong with the sharepoint configuration, I would guess.  I haven't tried a regular database query, but they used to work when reporting services was configured for native mode.  So I assume this is just a problem connecting to sharepoint 2010 lists, with the new SharePoint 2010 List connection type. Edit This has got to have something to do with a permission setting for the app pool account of sharepoint.  I read something once where it said you had to grant it permissions, but every guide I've found since then doesn't mention anything about it. This log entry is where the problem seems to be occuring, I just don't know what permissions to give TESTDOMAIN\spweb which is the app pool account. library!ReportServer_0-3!1bdc!09/01/2010-09:58:03:: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ReportServerStorageException: , An error occurred within the report server database.  This may be due to a connection failure, tim

Reporting services + report parameters and custom dropdown length

Hi, I have some report and plenty of parameters inside that report. One of parameter contains values stored inside dropdown list (that are downloaded from db). Is there any way I can set the maximum length of that dropdown control? The problem is that when I expand drop down list I have a horizonal scrollbar because some values inside that dropdown list are too long. How can I customize this parameter and dropdown control so there will be no horizontal scrollbar and values inside it will always be visible?

Permission Errors for Users on Home Page only of SQL Server Reporting Services Report Manager

I have spent days now investigating this problem, so any help very much appreciated! I have a remote web server 2003 running SQL Server R2 Express Edition with Reporting Services installed. I use Report Builder 3.0 locally to build report. If I login via Internet to Report Manager Web Page as an administrator I can perform all the expected and required actions, creating new folders and assigning permissions for users etc. I have added a new user "ReportUser" as a Browser of a child folder. If ReportUser longs on to home page, he receives the all too familiar error: User 'XXXXXXXX\reportuser' does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed. However, if the user starts at the child folder of home page, and then logs in, he sees the expected page, and can run the report!  This is not very satisfactory. How can I allow user to see home page, without an error message, but not be allowed to click on any folders to which he is not entitled? I am now aware that SQL Server R2 Express Edition has many limitations compared with full Editions (fixed roles, cannot manage Report Service from Management Studio etc) , and many of the "solutions" offered on the web just do not apply.   John Walton

Selecting ODP.NET (provider for Oracle) in Reporting Services 2008 R2 x64, Report Builder 3.0, Busin

We have a requirement to connect Reporting Services 2008 R2 x64 + Report Builder 3.0 to Oracle database and also to build a web application which connects to Oracle. I installed ODAC (Oracle Data Access Components) which contains ODP.NET (Oracle Data Provider for .NET) and Instant Client (required by the provider). Now the problem is how to make Report Designer, Reporting Services and Report Builder 3.0 to add ODP.NET as an Oracle provider in the drop down list contained by the Data Source Wizard? I found out that Reporting Services and Report Builder work based on Data Extensions so I added Oracle.DataAccess as extension to RsReportServer.config and RsReportDesigner.config as shown in: http://www.bigresource.com/Tracker/Track-ms_sql-aIXqXMEE/. By changing RsReportDesigner the ODP.NET appeared in the list for Report Designer (Business Intelligence Studio) but it couldn't be used because an error was thrown as soon as Test Connection was pressed stating that the provider is not registered with the application. With these changes ODP.NET does not appear in the list of providers for Reporting Services and Report Builder 3.0. For now I managed to connect to Oracle through .NET Provider for Oracle (provided by default) but this seems to be deprecated and in Report Builder 3.0 I can't select tables to be added to the query, I'm prompted only with a blank textbox and one excla

Dynamic change home link in reporting services

I have a site setup to use forms authentication, when a user logs in I want it to go to a specific folder for that user. I am able to do this by changing where the site gets redirected to by using appending ?ItemPath=/FolderName at the end of the path. There is a link that says home in the upper part of the page, I would like this to also reflect the default folder for this user. Is it possible to change this? I do not want to hide it in the CSS as it makes navigation a little more difficult as the user will have the ability to create separate folders inside of the folder. I am using SQL 2008 r2.

I get a rsUrlRemapError when trying to display Reporting Services report in SharePoint

When I try to open/view a report in SharePoint I get this strange error:

The URL, 'http%3a%2f%2fdemo%2f_vti_bin%2fReportServer', cannot be mapped to a public URL in this SharePoint environment. (rsUrlRemapError)

It seems like the URL get encoded somwhere, but where and why??

Everything else seems to be ok. The report renders well when navigating directly to it (not using the Reporting Services web part).

Reporting Services Report Parameters Problem

I have the next table, & I have the Id of the account as a report parameter @AccountID

|account |LastYear |Jan |Feb |Mar |Apr |May |jun |Jul |Aug |Sep |Oct |Nov |Dec |YTD  |Plan
| 00001  | 10.00    |  1   |  2  |  3  |   5 |  32  | 12 | 11| 10  |  8   | 87 | 54  | 54  | 123 | 250

I tried to build a Query that return me

Jan       |  1
Feb       |  2
Mar      |  3 ...

I already tried to build  a temporary table, but then Ignore my report parameter saying Must declare the scalar variable "@AccountID".
But If I eliminate the code of create #Table, The parameter works just fine.

Part of my query is :

Declare @IddeCuenta varchar(50)
set @IddeCuenta =

(Periodo varchar(30),
Informe_Ventas money)

INSERT INTO #VentasGraf VALUES ('LstYear',0)

    UPDATE #VentasGraf
    SET        Informe_Ventas =

SQL 2008 Reporting Services Report Parameter and Analysis Services issue after upgrade

I have upgraded my SQL 2000 database and analysis server and SQL 2005 reporting services server to a new instance of SQL 2008 running database engine, analysis services and reporting services.

The analysis services database migrated successfully and I have got the database into a state where it processes fine but I am having the following problems.

- My Reports show in reporting services but the drop down list parameters are all empty.
If I change the parameter in report builder to use the display name instead of the uniquename then the drop down list populates and works until I select a value that contains a space character and then it reports a problem with the dataset used by the report.

Query for the dataset used to populate my parameter.
with member [Measures].[GroupUniqueName] as '[Site].CurrentMember.UniqueName' member [Measures].[GroupDisplayName] as'[Site].CurrentMember.Name' select { [Measures].[GroupUniqueName], [Measures].[GroupDisplayName] } on columns, { [Site].[Group].members } on rows FROM [Invoice Reporting]

Query used by the report, filtering on the selected parameter value from the drop

SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services - How to I run a report and save the output as a .pdf on the s

I have the source code for doing what I want to do using a previous version of SSRS.  Since the new release, the service seems to work differently as I can't find any of the methods in the WSDL:

What are issues involved with deploying a reporting Services report outside of our network?

I would like to know if it is resonable and acceptable to make reports created through SQL Server Reporting services available through our Public facing applications.

Also, what are the potential problems? Security? Impact on the SQL Server? Limit to specific types of reports?

If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated, I am a big fan of SQL Reporting but we are unsure if we are going to be able to use the reports on the Public side and we don't want two separate sets of reports (internal and Public).

Thanks in advance.

Export Reporting Services Report from PerformancePoint Bug?

I believe I've found a bug in the PerformancePoint web part--has anyone else run into this?  Here's the scenario:

1. An SSRS report against SSAS, from a Reporting Services Integrated mode (2008R2) instance, having two parameters (the # of parameters doesn't matter, and the same behavior below was observed when an older SSRS2005 Report Manger mode instance was used for reports as well)

2. A new Report object is created in PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer, and the report links are added

3. The Report is added to a PerformancePoint dashboard using Dashboard Designer

4. The Report is has paramters that match the report, and the filters are connected to the report

5. After the report is published, it behaves as expected--renders fine and the filters work fine

6. When the report is exported to Excel using the command on the PerformancePoint web part's drop-down menu, the report ALWAYS renders with the data that would be correct if *no* parameters were passed in by the PerformancePoint filters.  So, for example, the report always displays numbers for "ALL", even after the filter is changed to "North America".

#1 - #5 are all as expected.  #6 is unexpected, and appears to be a bug.  Step #6 in SharePoint 2007 with PerformancePoint worked fine--it only a
