Pass activity progress to caller

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Windows Application

Hi, I have code activity MyActivity.cs. I create a workflow/XAML which contains MyActivity. My caller application load and executes this XAML. From inside MyActivity.cs, at execution time, I would like to pass progress information back to caller app. This information can just be an integer on basis of which caller app can show a progress bar describing how much activity has been executed.  What is the best way to achieve this in terms of WF? I can do some hacks to pass this information but is there any WF standard way to achieve this? Thanks,  haris

How to Pass Values Between Web Pages ASP.NET

You can pass information between pages in various ways, some of which depend on how the redirection occurs. The following options are available even if the source page is in a different ASP.NET Web application from the target page, or if the source page is not an ASP.NET Web page:

Use a query string.

Get HTTP POST information from the source page.

The following options are available only when the source and target pages are in the same ASP.NET Web application.

Use session state.

Create public properties in the source page and access the property values in the target page.

Get control information in the target page from controls in the source page.

Pass a grid column value to a Modal

Hi, I have a requirement to hide a field called details on a gridview and show it in a jQuery modal dialog when users click on the Customer ID hyperlink. This grid is created programmatically. I will be hiding the details column via the CSS display:none property. Does some one know how can I pass the grid's selected hidden column value to the modal? Here is some of the code I started:

            GridView mygrid = new GridView();
            //.....................................More columns code for the grid

            //Here is where I need to pass the Details column value associated with the customer ID field selected to the Modal and open the Modal dialog.
            HyperLinkField linkField = new HyperLinkField();
            string[] dataNavigateUrlFields = { "CustomerID" };
            linkField.DataTextField = "CustomerID";

Pass ASP.NET membership identity object across domain?

I am trying to figure a way to SSO with ASP.NET membership and role model.

I can implement custom membership provider which consume web services hosting on a server.

With encryption of data. No problem.

But my question is, If I sign on a website with my provider, got my identity object on that application,

could I pass it to another website on another domain which use the same provider and by doing so, do not need to login again?

If this is possible, I am going to implement this solution. Please tell me what's your take on this.

How to retrieve data from SqlDataSource and pass to a variable?

Hi there,

I have a page in my website where there is very little code-behind. I only have two lines of code in Page_Load() and the rest of the code is declarative ASP.NET code. I have a FormView control which uses a SqlDataSource to get some order information. The SqlDataSource calls a stored procedure called usp_GetOrderDetails, here's the code for the SqlDataSource:

    <asp:SqlDataSource ID="sdsFormOrderDetails" runat="server"
ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ForexDB %>"
ProviderName="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ForexDB.ProviderName %>"
SelectCommand="usp_GetOrderDetails" SelectCommandType="StoredProcedure"
UpdateCommand="usp_UpdateOrder" UpdateCommandType="StoredProcedure"
>
<SelectParameters>
<asp:ControlParameter Name="orderId" ControlID="grdOrders" PropertyName="SelectedDataKey.Value" />
</SelectParameters>
<UpdateParameters>
<asp:ControlParameter Name="orderId" ControlID="frmOrderDetails" PropertyName="SelectedValue" />
</UpdateParameters>
</asp:SqlDataSource>

Cutting Edge: Reporting Task Progress With ASP.NET 2.0

The progress bar is great for keeping users informed about the progress of a task. Unfortunately, there's no progress bar element built into ASP.NET, so Dino Esposito solves that problem with his ProgressPanel control.

Advanced Basics: Building a Progress Bar that Doesn't Progress

In many situations, accurately estimating the length of a certain process (copying a large file, loading data from a server, retrieving files from the Internet) would be both difficult and inefficient.

A Simple XML-driven Tool: Monitor Your Web Site's Activity with COM and Active Scripting

This article describes a simple Web site monitoring tool built with XML, JScript, Windows Script Host, and COM objects. Although it is not intended to replace complete Web site monitoring software products, it has many useful features that help to keep Web servers up and running. An XML configuration file specifies which Web sites to monitor and the actions to be taken if the site isn't functioning properly. In addition, the tool can be scheduled to run at any specified interval using the Windows Task Scheduler. Functions that probe the sites, log events, and send e-mail notifications are written in JScript.

Using Session to pass data between forms

In my app, I am displaying an Rss Feed, I have a button that takes the user to another form where they can select a them.  Upon selecting the theme, they are taken back to the original form.

If the user has selected which theme they want to view then they click on the button to change theme, I need to pass the information about what rss feed they were viewing through session so that once they select the theme they want they are redirected back to the main page and the rss feed they were viewing should still be displayed.

Since I've already bound the data to the xmlDataSource and DataList I am trying the following:

Session.Add("CurrentRssFeed", XmlDataSource1.DataFile);

Session.Add("CurrentDataList", DataList1);

I'm not sure I am passing the data over correctly and I'm not sure how to specify it in the page_preinit.

Any ideas???

How to pass paramters to Jquery modal window

Hi I have a webpart in a page in which there is a gridview(which shows list of customers). When I click on a link button in gridview, I would like to popup a JQuery modal window and fill the popup(this contains textboxes, then a gridview which contains mapped systems for thet customer, and another gridview which contains list of configured reports for that customer) with the details based on the customer name(link) clicked. Here I need to pass the customer Id and customer name parameters based on which I can fill the Jquery modal window.

Can any one have an idea to pass parameters to JQuery modal window in order to fill the contents inside it?
