Need to add hard coded values to LINQ query result

I am running a LINQ query which populates a list used by a DropDownList, I need to insert an "Unassigned" value to the list. The function below queries the values correctly from the db but does not insert the "Unaasinged" value to the list. Please help.   public List<KeyValuePair<int, string>> GetTestList() { KeyValuePair<int, string> item = new KeyValuePair<int, string>(0, "Unassigned"); using (DataClassesDataContext db = new DataClassesDataContext()) { var Query = from records in db.TEST_SUITEs orderby records.TEST_SUITE_ID select new KeyValuePair<int, string> ( records.TEST_SUITE_ID, string.Format(records.TEST_SUITE_ID + " " + records.SUITE_TYPE + " " + records.SUITE_NAME) ); //Query.ToList().Insert(0, item); Query.ToList().Insert(0,item); return Query.ToList(); } }

Check if Linq query return result

HelloI have Linq query likeDim Prood= (From p InProdutcts _                                          where p.ProductID="InputInteger"                                                         ..... ) .SingleOrDefaultI could Use Count if I Use .ToList Instead of .SingleOrDefault , But now that I use 'SingleOrDefault', how Could I find if Prod contains any record or it's Empty.

Dynamic Linq query?

Please excuse my rookiness but is it possible to make a Linq query dynamic in the following pseduo code (to show what I'm trying to do)Dim objCustomoer = (From c In dc.CustomerLocation _ Where c.customerID = a1 _ And { c.zip = a2  OR  c.city = a3  OR  c.state = a4} _                             Select c).ToList() where a2 and a3  and a4 are being populated from user controls and only one will apply.  So query is done by state,  zip or by city, but not by more than one, so the other two would be null.  So the operator is really "OR" but I haven't found anything on a "or" or "whereOr" operator.  How can I accomplish this?

How to setup Query Result Shaping for LinQ to SQL instead of Entity Framework?

Hi, I am new to this, and I am trying to implement a linq query similar to db.Genres.Include("Albums") command from mvc music store using my current DB setup. I realize that the tutorial mentions Checlking the "Include foreign key columns in the method" when creating the tables in ADO.NET, but if I am using LINQ to SQL classes, then how can I obtain the same effect. And how do I use db.Genres.Include("Albums") to simplify my life? Thanks

dynamic table name linq-to-sql query

I am writing a function in which i generate autocode in specific format i want to make this function generalize so that i send tablename and columnname  parameter and function return the next code. I am using linq to sql with MVC e.g. i want to make table name and column name dyanamic

from m in db.<tblnameparam>

                       select m.<colnameparam>

Linq Query with dynamic where clause i.e filter with dynamic no of filter columns

I want a linq query with dynamic where clause.

Following is explanation of problem:

Following line returns me n no of rows.

IEnumerable<XElement>  xeleRows = (from xele in xdocFile.Root.Elements(strCtlLookUpXMLNode) select xele);

structure of xeleRows will be like:

Now I want to get one row from N Number of rows on basis of filter criteria that can be dynamic, the no of columns in filter criteria will vary at run time.

Anybody know shows to achieve this using Linq. Please guide.

Get input for linq query from dynamic checkboxlist

Hello All,

I have a question, I have a dynamicly filled checkbox list which is filled by a SQL datasource.

That works fine, users can select multiple items in the checkboxlist. Further more there are several textboxes which the user can fill in.

Based up on the items checked and the data in the textboxes a Linq query should be fired, can anyone tell me how I can build the query based on the selected items (should be a loop i guess) and the filled textboxes?

Thanks in advance,

Need Help in LINQ query for group By with chunks of record

I am assigning and unique id [strShipperIdSequence] on my List on bases of some properties which are grouped together uniquely.
Now what i needed is that my group should be further break down to some maximum amount of chunks.[Let say 10]
that mean's even i am having Same value in 12 records i should get 2 groups[I of 10 items and other of 2 items]

var uniqueGroups = objMdbContentInfoList.GroupBy(p => new
}).Select(g => g.First()).ToList();
foreach (var objUnique in uniqueGroups)
string strShipperIdSequence = APIGlobalMethods.GetShipperRequestID();
foreach (MdbContentInfo obj in objMdbContentInfoList.FindAll(h => (h.CON_ENTRY_POINT == objUnique.CON_ENTRY_POINT &&
h.APPTType == objUnique.APPTType &&

Dynamic LINQ Part 2 (Evolution)

A while ago, Scott Gu blogged about a Dynamic LINQ library that was part of the C# samples in VS2008. This library let developers put together late bound LINQ queries using a special syntax. This really comes in handy when you want to build a LINQ query based on dynamic input. Consider the following example:

public ActionResult List(string sort) {
    var northwind = new NorthwindEntities();
    IQueryable<Product> products = northwind.Products;
    switch (sort) {
        case "ProductName":
            products = products.OrderBy(p => p.ProductName);

Help with SQL query to Linq (VB.Net)

I am facing problems converting a relatively complex SQL query to a LinqToSQL statement. There are lots of examples on the web, but none involve 'joins' + 'where' + 'group'

Here is my query I am trying to use Linq for :

select Customers.CustomerID,
       count(*) as NumOfOrders,
       sum(Customers.BillingAmount) as BillingAmount,
       sum(Orders.OrderTotal) as OrderTotal
From Customers
left outer join Orders on Customers.CustomerID = Orders.CustomerID
Where Customers.Name = @username
      and Customers.LastLoggedIn > @fromdate
      and Customers.LastLoggedIn < @throughdate
      and Customers.ZipCode = @zipcode
group by Customers.CustomerID

I need help converting this to a LinqToSql for VB.Net

Thank you very much!
