WCF Client (netTcpBinding) does not connect to remote DNS on Vista and Windows 7

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF
Hi, WCF Client (netTcpBinding) does not connect to remote DNS on Vista and Windows 7. With other OS like XP and Windows 2003, client connects to remote DNS properly. I got the following exception. Same client works in Vista and Windows 7 if service is available in local network. Following are the exceptions: <Exception> <ExceptionType>System.ServiceModel.EndpointNotFoundException, System.ServiceModel, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089</ExceptionType> <Message>No DNS entries exist for host icelive.theice.com.</Message> <StackTrace> at System.ServiceModel.Channels.DnsCache.Resolve(String hostName) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.SocketConnectionInitiator.GetIPAddresses(Uri uri) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.SocketConnectionInitiator.Connect(Uri uri, TimeSpan timeout) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.BufferedConnectionInitiator.Connect(Uri uri, TimeSpan timeout) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.TracingConnectionInitiator.Connect(Uri uri, TimeSpan timeout) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.ConnectionPoolHelper.EstablishConnection(TimeSpan timeout) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.ClientFramingDuplexSessionChannel.OnOpen(TimeSpan timeout) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.CommunicationObject.Open(TimeSpan timeout) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel.OnOpen(TimeSpan timeout) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.Comm

MySQL: can't connect from remote client code

I have a MySQL data at a web hotel. I can connect to the database from my web application hosted at the hotel . But trying to connect from a client application running on my PC fails using the same ConnetionString. The error is: Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts

In fact the method below (the method is protected in the web application) fails in my client application but works in my web application.

private void button8_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
string MyConString = "server=db.MYSITE.dk;user;" +
"pwd=PASSWORD;database=DATABASE" ;

label1.Text = label1.Text + MyConString;

MySqlConnection connection = new MySqlConnection();
connection.ConnectionString = MyConString;

catch (MySqlException ex)
label7.Text = ex.Message;

I just tried to download WorkBench 5.2 and HeidiSQL, both connects to the database from my PC when supplying server and password information.

Any help that will allow me to connect to the database from my client application I much appreciated. I use connector 6.2.4

Net.TCP Endpoint; Windows Authentication security; client can connect to a server at localhost but n

Hey all, so here's what going on:

I have a WCF Service that I have setup as a Windows Service.  Everything works perfectly when I attempt to use the system with all of the components (i.e. server and clients) on the same machine.  However, when I try to connect my client from a different system, I get an error that is trying to tell me that the server rejected the client's credentials.

I need the client to the able to connect from a different machine.  I want to implement a SQL Role Provider kind of credentialing in the future, but for now, I just need it to work.

What I have tried
I have looked around online and read a few other posts as well some things in the MSDN KB and I have either not found the answer, or not understood it.

  • I have tried setting the <security mode="Transport"> to "None" with the hope that that would disable the accreditation entirely.  All it did was result in a different error saying that there was an error that might have been caused by an invalid message.  I have also tried a few other configurations with this element in the app.config file; to no success.
  • I have read some things about Impersonation, but I am not quite sure I understand how to implement it

wcf service host by windows service - client cannot connect

i have created a cf service hosted by windows service. the wcf service app.config is

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!--Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation.  All Rights Reserved.-->

      <service name="DiscoveyService.WCFDiscoveryService">

Client can't connect to WCF on deployment machine Windows 2003 Sp2 server .NET 3.5

I have a WCF service hosted in a Windows service application.  I have a Windows Form client that connects to it.  I am using net.tcp binding for two endpoints.   It all works fine in my environment, but when I deploy it on my cutomer's machine the client does not get a response from the service.

I ran netstat -na and I can see the endpoints listening.  I can even see the connection ESTABLISHED when my client runs the first method.  But my client times out and receives a "Could not communicate with XXX service.  This request operation sent to net.tcp..... did not receive a reply within the configured timeout (00.01.00) The time alloted... etc"

I tried removing all security from the configuration file, but that did not make a difference.

I reinstalled .NET Framework 3.5

I added     System.Net.ServicePointManager.DefaultConnectionLimit = 200 as suggested in another post.

I am creating a trace for the client and the server.  The server does not log any activity of a connection.  The client is catching a communication exception.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  What else can I try to see why the client is not able to chake hands with the server on this particular machine?

Many thanks,
