Hello,I'm trying to generate WCF client from Customer's WCF Service which has XML Signature options enabled. When trying to generate client proxy using svcutil I get following errors: Microsoft (R) Service Model Metadata Tool [Microsoft (R) Windows (R) Communication Foundation, Version 3.0.4506.2152] Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. Wildcard '##any' allows element and causes the content model to become ambiguous.

I just generated a service from a wsdl and when I try to bring up the wsdl for the service, I get the error below in the App_tracelog.

How do I work past this ? Should I be updated the annotations on objects like the one below?  The WSDL is part of a spec and I am reluctant to make changes there.

Wildcard '##any' allows element 'http://www.openiam.org/service/connector:containerID', and causes the content model to become ambiguous.

Input-validation-Error issue when Model has complex types

I have implemented aps.net mvc validation and it is working fine. Only issue I have "Input-validation-error" css class is not getting applied if model has complex types.

I am using my own data annotations for validation.

Any idea how to resolve  this.

Element 'content' is not a known element. this can occur if there is a compilation error in the website, or the web.config file is missing.

<asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1" Runat="Server">

<asp:Content   --- showed a green wavy line , and on hover displayed the above error.

Now I am having certain problems.

1. Visual Studio 2010 hangs when I try to use ToolBox.

2. Intellisense for asp.net controls is not working.

I have tried replacing web.config file (frm backup) , tried to debug - it doesnt show anything.

All other websites are working alright. Have problem with only one of the websites.

How to display model level custom data annotation validation error?

Hello Experts,

I am a MVC newbie & am lost in various ways validation can be implemented in my application.

I created a custom model-level data annotation validator attribute, but am unable to display its error message in the view. Basically, I have let's say 5 properties in the Entity class Job (model-level custom attribute called UniqueKeywords defined on it):

1) LoginID: value comes in the URL

2) Title: Required property level attribute defined on it

3) CatID1, CatID2, CatID3 - 3 categoryIDs - these are dropdowns in the view with same list of keywords in all 3.

I want to mandate that the values picked by the user in all 3 category dropdowns should be different.

With reference to the code pasted below, here is the explanation of what happens:

When I submit the form without specifying a title or picking anything from any of the 3 category dropdowns, the validation occurs for the property level Required attribute as well as model level uniquekeywords attribute, but the error is displayed only next to the required field "Title". I can confirm that the custom validation also works by filling in some text in the Title field & then re-posting the form...this re-displays the view, but the error message "Category cannot be duplicated" is not displayed.

Looks like I am missing s

Element 'address' is not allowed for content model

I am validating XML file against XSD file using Stylus studio but  I am getting a lot of same error.

here is my xml and xsd

Localize framework message from xml validation error

I need to validate an XML through XSD. I am using XMLReader (with XmlReaderSettings and

Validation_EventHandler to do it). Depend on users preference, I would like to change the output message generated by  Validation_EventHandler in french or english.

Any idea on how to perform this?

Extreme ASP.NET: Model Validation & Metadata in ASP.NET MVC 2

Scott Allen shows how to improve your user input validation with new features coming out in ASP.NET MVC 2 that easily allow validation on both the client and server.

Multiple forms on the same page MVC2: how to handle (including validation from model)

It should be simple; although I'm having a hard time to figure out the best way to do it. I've MVC2 pages with multiple forms on the same page having different functionalities.

What's the best way to handle this; including the MVC2 way of validation from the model?

BDC Column validation error in DIP

I have created a content type which has a BDC column along with other columns.

This content type is used in a document library. When the user adds a new document of this content type the system is asking for the extra data required for this content type and I am using AJAX to store data in the BDC Column fields.

The adding process goes fine and I am able to check in the document

Now if I check out the document and open it to edit it, a message is shown on the top of the document saying ' Required Properties - To save to the server, correct the invalid or missing required properties' along with 'Edit Properties' button.

When I click on 'Edit Properties' DIP is opening up and the invalid column is not highlighted. After some trial and error I found out that the problem is with the BDC column. When the cut the data from BDC column and paste it again and click on 'Check Item' the error disappears and allows me to check in the document.

Did anyone face any problem like this before. If so please help me out

Also I am new to BDC so please bear with me if I am missing something obvious.

Rejected by custom validation error & ItemAdding

I believe this topic was discussed before in this forum, but I couldn't find it using the exact error I receive: "operation for file.doc was rejected by custom validation on the server"

When I try to add a new word document to my doc library, Word displays this error instead of my custom error message. I set properties.Cancel=true in ItemAdding of my EventHandler, because my validation fails.

Is there any way to display user properties.ErrorMessage instead of this generic error message?

Binding of complex entity turns into validation error

consider classic example: Product and Category editing Product in dropdown Id of Category is selected - Category mapped as object with all fields empty except Id when submitting Product edit form - validation gives an error: "Category name is required" (I have Required attribute on Category Name property) How deal with such errors if I want to use built-in validation (if (!ModelState.IsValid))? Writing custom data binder which would fill all such id-only-objects with values from database comes to mind.upd: I did small research of mvc code and found out that validation happens before binding - so this solution would't work. Do you have any other solutions for this problem?

sslstream client certificate validation error

Hi,I have taken server and client program from MSDN2 for sslstream. in that code client certifiacte authetication is made false  i want to enable that and do the code i have done some modification to the code but is giving error "RemoteCertificateNotAvailable" and i think that its not getting the client certificate at server side.So please can any one help me to do client server program using sslstream in which client certificate also needs to be validated.I am attaching my modified code of MSDN2Server sideusing System;using System.Collections;using System.Net;using System.Net.Sockets;using System.Net.Security;using System.Security.Authentication;using System.Text;using System.Security.Cryptography.X509Certificates;using System.IO;namespace Examples.System.Net{    public sealed class SslTcpServer     {        static X509Certificate serverCertificate = null;        // The certificate parameter specifies the name of the file         // containing the machine certificate.        // The following method is invoked by the RemoteCertificateValidationDelegate.        public static bool ValidateClientCertificate(              object sender,              X509Certificate certificate,              X509Chain chain,              SslPolicyErrors sslPolicyErrors)        {            SslPolicyErrors errors = sslPolicyErrors;            if (errors != SslPolicyErrors.None)            {

'Unspecified error' doing sp_xml_preparedocument on XML element with a long attribute

In SQL Management Studio 2008 (connected to SQL 2005 database), I get this:The XML parse error 0x80004005 occurred on line number 2, near the XML text "<item value="&#xD;&#xA;libname...Msg 6602, Level 16, State 2, Procedure sp_xml_preparedocument, Line 1The error description is 'Unspecified error'.When I do this declare @doc nvarchar(max), @idoc int set @doc = '<item value="&#xD;&#xA;libname..." />' EXEC sp_xml_preparedocument @idoc OUTPUT, @doc when the value of the @value attribute is actually a string of somewhat over 830000 characters. If I truncate the string somewhat, the statements execute successfully.Anyone know how to fix this?  (and "use shorter attributes" is not an acceptable answer :-)I would use XQuery except that I can't figure out how to get the equivalent of @mp:id and @mpparentid to give me the hierarchical structure information I need.  If anyone knows how to do that, I'd appreciate a hand there too!

Validation Error

I have a strange validation error that I sure can't figure out. I'd ignore it, but I'm ending up with a ">" char as the first char rendered in the page. Anybody see anything wrong with this markup? The validation error seems to be on the very first "<table>" tag (in bold). Validation(): Attribute 'Factory' is not a valid attribute of element 'ServiceHost'

Hi, I'm using REST WCF3.5. Thanks!

Error - "Specified element is already the logical child of another element. Disconnect it first."

What I have is a Grid with each cell containing its own canvas.  I have a UserControl (uc) that I want to be able to drag/drop to other cells within grid.  I was able to get my drag/drop of the uc working except for the error in the subject.  On a drag/drop of a uc, I determine the canvas the drag started in, get a reference to the uc, clear the original canvas's children and add the uc to the new canvas.  The wierd thing about this error is that it is not entirely consistent.  Sometimes, I can drag the uc around to three or four different cells before receiving the error.  I have read multiple posts about this error but I don't seem to be able 'disconnect' the uc from its original logical parent.  Help is appreciated.

An error has occurred while trying to access the license validation key file. Please reinstall SQL S

I'm getting this error following installing SQL 2008 on a Windows 2008 R2 OS when trying to open SQL studio, can anyone offer explanation why this is occurring ?  I have installed SQL 2008 SP1. I see many others have also had this issue but cannot find a documented solution and/or confirm reason as to why it occurs.
