System.Workflow.Runtime.Hosting.PersistenceException Timeout expired.

Is there a way for me to set the CommandTimeout property on the SqlCommand. I can see that there is a DbResourceAllocator that has a NewCommand that creates the SqlCommand but there is now way that I can change the CommandTimeout property. My workflow is quite large and I am save the Tracking information as well with the SharedConnectionWorkflowCommitWorkBatchService. These are the service that I load: string connectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["DBConnectionWorkflowTracking"].ConnectionString; SqlWorkflowPersistenceService persistenceService = new SqlWorkflowPersistenceService(connectionString); persistenceService.EnableRetries = true; wr.AddService(persistenceService); SqlTrackingService sqlTrackingService = new SqlTrackingService(connectionString); sqlTrackingService.PartitionOnCompletion = true; sqlTrackingService.EnableRetries = true; wr.AddService(sqlTrackingService); SharedConnectionWorkflowCommitWorkBatchService wb = new SharedConnectionWorkflowCommitWorkBatchService(connectionString); wb.EnableRetries = true; wr.AddService(wb); wr.AddService(new CallWorkflowService()); wr.AddService(new CallWorkflowWorkflowLoaderService()); Can anyone help? Thanks Gert

Cross-thread operation not valid

I have .net 1.1 compact framework project, which is now migrated to 3.5 compact framework. The project has lot of cross thread calls. The Project runs perfect in .net 1.1, but fails in 3.5.

I keep getting an error "Cross-thread operation not valid: Control '' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on." while executing the following code. _currentForm.Controls.Add((Control)_controlList[0]);

some suggested to set Control.CheckForIllegalCrossThreadCalls=false for the form, but unfortunately compact framework don't support CheckForIllegalCrossThreadCalls property.

Request somebody to help me, by educating on how to handle this situation in .net 3.5 compact framework.

System.Workflow.Runtime.QueueException + SPWorkflowExternalDataExchangeService

Hi,

I have implemented a WorkFlow Service part of a state machine workFlow and time to time I get an error :

Engine RunWorkflow: System.Workflow.Activities.EventDeliveryFailedException: Event "EmailOfferReceivedWorkflow" on interface type "OnBoardingStateWorkFlow.IEmailOfferWorkFlowService" for instance id "c67fc126-729f-4a61-802e-ac09b26282c3" cannot be delivered. ---> System.Workflow.Runtime.QueueException: Queue 'Message Properties  Interface Type:OnBoardingStateWorkFlow.IEmailOfferWorkFlowService  Method Name:EmailOfferReceivedWorkflow  CorrelationValues:  ' is not enabled.

Any idea ?

ReloadTrackingProfiles: System.InvalidOperationException: TrackingListener for instance %0 is not in

Hi,

I am hosting Workflows (dll based) in a web application. I created my own TrackingService and my own TrackingChannel (code below). When starting a workflow, everything works fine, all events are tracked. After re-building my solution, workflows, that were running before, do not track anything anymore (although they continue execution). Info: On every build, the build number of all assemblies is increased by default.

I tried to reload the tracking profiles after loading workflows (using workflow.ReloadTrackingProfiles();), but this leads to the error above.

What am I doing wrong?

thanks,

matthias

Here is the code for the tracking service:

    public class EnablerWFTracking : TrackingService {

        private TrackingProfile profile;

        #region Constructor

        public EnablerWFTracking()

            : base() {

            profile = this.CreateTrackingProfile();

        }

        #endregion

        #region CreateTrackingProfile

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x800A03EC): Microsoft Excel cannot open or save any mo

Hello good people,

I have this beast as an error. Did my research and found some posts here as well but did not do any good for me.

Here is what I did. I had an error regarding issue rights with COM objects so I gave access rights under component services for Microsoft Excel application now I am getting this error.

Here is some information regarding this

1. Gave rights to ASPNET and network service to my web app directory to try to fix this error.

2. The exact same process works on my Windows 2003 server and my Windows 7 development machine. I am trying to get this going on a different windows 2003 machine that is outside of our domain.

3. Developing on windows 7 64 bit with office 2010 installed. Also excel 2010 is installed on my Web server

4. Here is the code that is causing the error: The last line is causing the error.:

GC.Collect();
            MyXl = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application();
            MyXl.Visible = false;

            MyWb = (Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel._Workbook)(MyXl.Workbooks.Add(Missing.Value));
            int test = 0;
            MySheet = (Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel._Worksheet)MyXl.ActiveSheet;
            if (reader.HasRows)
            {
                int InRow = 2;
                for (int i = 0; i < Nu

Exchange 2000: Web Storage System, Workflow Tools, and CDO Turbocharge Collaboration Apps

Microsoft Exchange 2000, the upcoming version of Exchange Server for Windows 2000, provides many new features including integration with Active Directory, Web Storage System events and forms, and a new version of Collaboration Data Objects (CDO). Exchange 2000 also provides a workflow engine and design tool to create workflow applications. This article will give you an overview of these new features and looks at ways to do a few standard tasks with the new version of CDO. Also included is a sample workflow application that manages the posting of messages to a public server to illustrate the new workflow engine and workflow design tool.

Error "user does not have permission to perform this operation" with User Instance = True.

I setup SQL Server 2005 / SQL Express. All works fine in SQL Server 2005.

I am connecting to a SQL Database from VS 2005,  Tools/Connect to Database. I set the Data Source to "Microsoft SQL Server Database File (SqlClient)" (meaning SQL Server Express) and User Instance = True, and Integrated Security = True.

The above is working successfully on all machines except my Laptop. On my Laptop, I am getting this error "user does not have permission to perform this operation". On my Laptop, if I change User Instance = False, it works fine. Also, If I connect to SQL Server 2005 it works fine only if User Instance = False.

I tried all kind of security changes, nothing worked. For example, I setup Everyone as Full Control for the Folder and the MDF File of SQL Server. I gave my user ID as sysadmin role in SQL Server Express. Also, I enabled creating User Instance form SQL Server Express, Nothing is working.

Appreciate your help.

Tarek.

When I disable user instances, and then try to connect from VS, I get a different error, which is asking to enable user instances.

Can I dehydrate the Workflow object as well as the instance?

Hiya All Can I dehydrate the workflow object (i.e. not an instanciation of it) into SQLServer?  I want to save all versions created of a workflow so that I can chose to instanciate the workflow from any of the previous versions if I need to. This is due to a compliancy issue - being able to reconstruct the data created by a previous version of a workflow to prove accuracy. ThanksMichelle x

Is there a way to check if workflow instance already exists for a particular productID in Workflow o

I am using Visual Studio 2008 and .NET 3.5. I am trying to build a WF that is exposed as WCF hosted on IIS. This service is consumed by ASP.NET client. It is a very simple WF- receive info for new product "A"- send email to person 'Xyz' that new prodcut "A" is received- do some business process for product "A"- send out more notifications for product "A"Consider this scenario - - Client hits submit on asp.net page for prodcut "A"- new WF instance is created for product "A"- client can go back to the same page, edit some more info and hit save again. However, this time or for any subsequent "Saves",  I do not want to create a new WF instance for product "A".I can check to see if a WF instance exists for product "A" on the client side before calling the service operation. However, I want to see if there is a way to do this in WF or WorkflowServiceHost, as I don't want to add this logic to client. First acitvity in WF has to be receive activity with CanCreateInstance = true, so not sure how I can do this check in WF itself.Also, I have another stupid question, when using WF exposed as WCF service, do we have to implement all service operations using WF? What if I have some service operations that just involves checking some business logic? Do I implement this in a

Workflow Runtime

I was going to build one for myself, but has anyone developed a full-featured, production caliber WF 4.0 runtime for ASP.NET which includes persistence and dynamic control of instances?  I was hoping to just buy one to save time.

Custom sequence activity deriving from System.Workflow.Activities.SequenceActivity

Hi, I try to create custom sequence activity. I found some sample (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wfprerelease/thread/f54e8eb2-29d9-46f6-ad96-766fe6fad333/). But this custom activity looks ugly (to separate nested activity using ellipses instead of arrows). My question is - how to create custom sequence activity, which will look like sequence activity. I also found this sample - <ContentPresenter x:Uid="ContentPresenter_1" Content="{Binding}" Style="{x:Static sacdt:DesignerStylesDictionary.SequenceStyle}"/> When I used this ContentPresenter my custom activity looks like System.Workflow.Activities.SequenceActivity, but I couldn't put on it another activity. I also created class, which derives from System.Workflow.Activities.SequenceActivity, but I couldn't see it in toolbox. My question is - how to create class, which derives from System.Workflow.Activities.SequenceActivity and is visible in toolbox or how to use ContentPresenter for sequence activity, which allows put on itself another activity.

Workflow Runtime and Long Running Processes

I am trying to get a handle on the fact that applications have to manage the persistance of workflows directly. in 4.0.  If I set a workflow to run every night at 3:00 AM and then be persisted, how will I know that my application will be awake and ready to do the job.  I know that SharePoint currently uses a timer on the server which fires off every 5 minutes (default).

Is it possible to Register Assembly System.Runtime.Serialization.dll

I am trying to run a Virtual Earth web service call from SQL server, and need to registier the System.Runtime.Serialization.dll assembly in SQL.  Is this possible?ThanksJay
