Access denied when user clicks refresh BDC column button

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Access denied occurs with any non Site Collection Administrator regardless of rights.  It only occurs in this site collections, others they are able to refresh.  In this particular collection they can add a BDC column to a list, edit an item and place/resolve a value in the bdc col; but when they refresh they are given an acess denied.  Any thoughts on what they need read access to?  This goes away if I give site admin privs (dont want to do that) or give them read only access on the web application (dont want to do that either).

Object Cache set with Portal Super User accounts. Access denied to site.

I have the same issue on multiple farms. In this example i'll outline this problem for a three tier farm. SharePoint web server SharePoint Application server (hosts central admin) Sql server After installation and configuration i have created two web applications (claims based auth with NTLM). https://portal.contoso.com https://mysite.contoso.com The client connects on the URLs to the web server (1st tier). All is working correctly and they can access the portal and their mysite. The log file keeps reporting that i need to configure the user accounts for the Object Chache. So, i looked up the required steps and executed these conform mcrosoft guidelines (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff758656.aspx) All the steps run seccesfully. But when i connect to the URL i now get an access denied (even with the administrator who is site collection administrator) In the log file i get the following to lines when i connect to the site. Unknown SPRequest error occurred. More information: 0x80070002 Unknown SPRequest error occurred. More information: 0x80070005 I have exact the same issue on two other farms. Marc

I need to hide the print button when user clicks print

using vb.net/asp.net 2005.when the user clicks on a linkbutton I am displaying records from my gridview, popping up a new window so that the user can print the records being displayed in the gridview, dvName is the name of the dive that encloses the gridview and gvName is the name of my gridview.The display and print functionality is working fine but the problem is that I am trying to hide the print button from being printed.  When the user clicks on print then all records (good) and the print button (not good) are being printed, here is the javascript that displays the records and the print button.function printDiv(dvName, gvName) { try{ var sOption="toolbar=no,location=no,directories=yes,menubar=no,"; sOption+="scrollbars=yes,width=750,height=600,left=100,top=25"; var countRows = 0; var gridview = document.getElementById(gvName); if(gridview != null) { countRows = gridview.rows.length; if (countRows > 0) { countRows = countRows - 1; } } var sWinHTML = document.getElementById(dvName).innerHTML; var winprint=window.open("","",sOption); winprint.document.open(); winprint.document.write('<html><LINK href=MyStyleSheet.

Add managed metadata column to list - access denied + terms not visible in lists

Firstly the following is not a problem for users given "Full Control" (and possibly other permission levels might work) at the web application level in central admin.

For any other user with permissions set at site collection level, even "site owners" (full control) , these problems arise.

  1. When adding managed metadata columns to a new document library list, clicking save results in multiple access denied errors getting logged (as seen using UlsViewer) and an exception is raised (sharepoint error page)
  2. In existing document library lists managed metadata column headings are displayed in list views but the terms text is not displayed.
This problem shows up even if the logged on user is the term set owner.  "Available for tagging" is enabled, submissions policy is closed.
Looking at http://<the-site-domain>/Lists/TaxonomyHiddenList/AllItems.aspx and then checking list permissions I can see that "All Authenticated Users" has Read permission level.
Integrated windows authentication - NTLM + Claims Based Authentication is the only authentication method used. It's an intranet site.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Updating Person/Group Field when Current User Clicks Button

Hi all,

Im trying to either add the current user to a multi person/group field or remove them if they are already in the field when they click a button. My code works to decide which button to render on the page - it will show "Add" if the current user is not in the multi person/group field (titled Members) or it will display "Remove" if the current user already exists in the multi person/group field.

My problem is that when the user clicks the button, i want to take the value in the multi person/group field and use XSL string functions to either add/remove the current user to/from the string and push the updated string back into the multi person/group field - This is not working for me. I can reference the correct column with javascript, but it seems the value i get from the person/group column is not just a simple string, its got all sorts of HTML in there. I was hoping just to get a string like, "member1;member2;...). Ive tried changing the field to just display the account (rather than the name with presence), but it still pulls back a huge chunk of code that i cant work with.

Below is my code so far, just to give you an idea - anyone know what im doing wrong?

Access Denied error when attaching VS2008 workflow debugger to 64-bit IIS if VS2008 user differs fro

I am trying to attach VS2008 to debug a workflow hosted in IIS (using the workflow debugger option so I can step through the visual workflow designer breakpoints, not the managed code debugger).  It is actually a WF 3.5 WCF workflow service hosted in IIS but I don't think that is the issue.  When I attach from VS2008 I always get the error "Unable to attach to process.  Access is denied."

I can attach for managed code debugging no problem.  Also, if I configure the IIS worker process app pool to use the same account as the account I am running VS2008 under I can attach not problem and debug using the workflow debugger.

So my remaining problem is that I would like to be able to attach while running VS2008 as my normal user account and leave the w3wp.exe app pool running as the usual networkservice account so that my debugging represents how the w3wp.exe will act in production.  I'm on Vista SP1 64-bit with .Net 3.5 SP1 and VS2008 SP1.

Q: Is there a special privilege I can grant the worker process account so that I can debug while using a different user account?

I saw a very old post here http://blogs.msdn.com/sonalic/archive/2006/05/10/594703.aspx that hinted there is something special for 64-bit.  Does anyone know if there is something special about 64-bi

Access Denied while user logs out sharepoint 2010 FBA site

I've sharepoint 2010 site configured as forms based authentication having my custom membership provider.

On this site, i've a simple webparts that basically contains a asp.net login status control to allow users to login/logout. it works fine .. when user is not logged in it shows Login link that redirects users to the login page and when user is logged in, it shows Logout link.

but when i click logout link, user is not logged out completely. I get this error - Access denied and when i go back to the page (by clicking on the link provided on error page or just refresh the page) - the user is still logged in on the site !!

Here's the code snippet of my webpart:

This exact same functionality is working fine MOSS but it doesn't seem to work here !!

protected override void CreateChildControls()
LoginStatus loginStatus = new LoginStatus();
loginStatus.LoginText = "Log in";
loginStatus.LogoutText = "Log out";
loginStatus.LogoutAction = LogoutAction.RedirectToLoginPage;

Migrated from Windows 2000 ASP.NET 1.1 to Windows 2003, ASP.NET 2.0 and had this error. All the forums/MSDN/Blogs says to give Read/Write Access to C:\Windows\Temp folder. Why should we give Full Access to some folder in Production server?? In windows 2000, ASP.NET 2.0 development machine, no files are created when we run crystal reports from aspx pages. Then why in Windows 2003 servers, we need to give rights to temp folder?? It is a simple code

And the code is not storing anything on the disk. Then why should it store the GUID.rpt file in Temp file in Windows 2003 server?? Any alternative is there not to store anything on the disk when Crystal Reports are opened in aspx page??

"Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account has access to this content"

Our search is not working. The crawl log indicates following error: "Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account has access to this content, or add a crawl rule to crawl this content. (The item was deleted because it was either not found or the crawler was denied access to it.)".

If I check the event viewer, it indicates following error: "Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'. [CLIENT: <local machine>]"

My default content access account is another one than this NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE account. The content access account password is correct. Apparently this content access account is translated to the NETWORK SERVICE account upon a crawl. And this network service account doesn't has the appropriate rights on database level. How can I fix this?

Access Denied with SPControlMode.New and RunWithElevatedPriviliges

I am trying to add MultipleLookupField to a webpart I am developing. It works fine as long as the user has Add permission on the list it points to: here is the code:

private MultipleLookupField _multiplelookupKeywords = new MultipleLookupField();
protected override void CreateChildControls()
Guid guidSite = SPContext.Current.Site.ID;
Guid guidWeb = SPContext.Current.Web.ID;
    using (SPSite site = new SPSite(guidSite))
        using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb(guidWeb))
  SPList listTest;
  listTest = web.Lists[ListName];
  _multiplelookupKeywords.ListId = listTest.ID;
                _multiplelookupKeywords.ControlMode = SPControlMode.New; //Changing this to SPControlMode.Display works fine
                _multiplelookupKeywords.RenderContext = SPContext.GetContext(web);

Asp.Net upload file access denied

I have the problem below, if anyone can help me, appreciate it.

Server Error in '/' Application.

Access to the path 'c:\Inetpub\EnewsAttFiles\employ-e-header2.jpg' is denied.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'c:\Inetpub\EnewsAttFiles\employ-e-header2.jpg' is denied.

ASP.NET is not authorized to access the requested resource. Consider granting access rights to the resource to the ASP.NET request identity. ASP.NET has a base process identity (typically {MACHINE}\ASPNET on IIS 5 or Network Service on IIS 6) that is used if the application is not impersonating. If the application is impersonating via <identity impersonate="true"/>, the identity will be the anonymous user (typically IUSR_MACHINENAME) or the authenticated request user.

To grant ASP.NET access to a file, right-click the file in Explorer, choose "Properties" and select the Security tab. Click "Add" to add the appropriate user or group. Hig

Access Denied error

I have read several posts where this access denied to path ex.('c:\test' ).  The only way I got this to work was adding <identity impersonate> using my credentials in the web.config file but I don't want to use my credentials all the time.  I have Windows as the authentication mode so why doesn't it work without supplying my credentials?  I tried giving Network Service account write permissions to the folder but that doesn't work either.

Sharepoint site client access denied

I have an sharepoint application which was working fine.

I encountered a license expired message in sql server enterprise evaluation 2008 version after which i changed the date to 2 months earlier date, I have also changed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\100\ConfigurationState to 3 after which sql server started working but the issue is that the clients are unable to access the sharepoint site completely. On providing the url the web site requests for logon information and then access is denied. The same url with the same authentication credentials is accessible from the server and the entire application works fine from the server.

From the  client the below error page appears.

You are not authorized to view this page

Please try the following:

  • Contact the Web site administrator if you believe you should be able to view this directory or page.
