Output parameters in OLEDB Command component - SSIS 2008

I have a package that I developed in SSIS 2005 and recently ported to 2008. Everything runs great except an OLE DB Command component that calls a stored procedure that uses output parameters. When I try to run this, I get this error: Error: 0xC0202009 at Data Flow Task, OLE DB Command [100]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Syntax error, permission violation, or other nonspecific error". Error: 0xC004701A at Data Flow Task, SSIS.Pipeline: component "OLE DB Command" (100) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC0202009. When I do the same thing in SSIS2005, it works fine. So I setup a new package with 1 data flow. In that data flow, I added a source component, an OLE DB Command, and a destination.  I then tested this with a stored procedure that took no parameters. It worked fine. I then tested it with a stored procedure with 1 parameter defined as OUTPUT. This generated the error.   Is there an issue with output parameters in an OLE DB Command in SSIS 2008?   Thanks!http://bobp1339.blogspot.com

Copy/paste broken in SSMS 2008 R2

After uninstalling an SSMS addin (from Red Gate), my copy/paste functionality in SSMS broke -- don't know if it's correlated.  As documented in the bug https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/126743/copy-paste-stop-working-in-sql-2005 it seems that paste is working fine, because it works when I copy from other programs.  When I paste from SSMS, though, I can't paste anywhere.  It's as though SSMS clears the clipboard and that's all she wrote. Anyone else seeing this problem? -matthew

The original thread is locked for some reason--but the cause of the bug had something to do with the "ssms tools pack" add-in, which, according to the comments in the connect item, will be fixed in an update of ssms tools: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlkjdatabaseengine/thread/f65737b7-fe4d-487b-aa41-ef437d100bc7 https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/556169/ssms-completely-locked-up-after-right-clicking-a-table

SQL Server 2008 Powershel trying to access SQL Server 2000

Below is a script from my SQL server 2008 PowerShell trying to connect a SQL Server 2000 instance. I also see al instances on the machine: PS SQLSERVER:\sql\MySS2KMachine\default> cd .. PS SQLSERVER:\sql\MySS2KMachine> dir Instance Name ------------- DEFAULT MSSQL2005 As you can see from the above, there is also a SQL Server 2005 instance installed on the MySS2KMachine. Now, if I try the same thing for a Sql Server 2000 instance on another server (Windows 2003 R2 with SP1) with no SQL Server 2005 or higher installed on the machine, I get the error below: PS SQLSERVER:\> cd sql PS SQLSERVER:\sql> cd MyPureSS2KMachine WARNING: Could not obtain SQL Server Service information. Remote access to SQL-Server 2008 R2 on Windows Server 2008 denied

Hello, after successful installation of SQLServer 2008 R2 and providing my account as a 'sysadmin' I failed to access the server from a management studio of a SQL-Server 2005 release installation. The TCP/IP access is enabled and the server is configured to allow access from remote connections.  The error message reads a follows: ' A network-related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify ... (Provider: Named Pipes Provider, error 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)(Microsoft SQL Server, Error:2)' Accessing the SQL-Server by the management studio from the local host works fine but trying to acces by command line using the '-E' parameter fails. Is there any additional configuration on the operation system level needed to open a SQL-Server 2008 instance to be selected by other members of  domain groups from the non-local host? Thank you for the answer

Problem connecting to SQL Server 2008 R2 Express from Access 2007

I have a problem with SQL Server 2008 R2 Express with MS Access 2007. I am running Windows 7 with 8 gigs memory. I installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Express. Do I now need to install SP1 because I am running with Windows 7? I can open SQL Server using the Management Screen but I cannot connect to MS Access 2007 using SQL Server Express as the database. When trying to connect to SQL Server from Access 2007, I keep getting the message that SQL Server 2005 cannot be found. It will not allow me to sign onto sql server 2008 stating that it cannot be found. Do I have to now run the SQL Server 2008 R2 Express SP1? Is there an upgrade to MS Access 2007 which will allow me to use SQL Server 2008 R2 Express?

Access the SQL Command Query Value Property from the OLEDB Container within a Script Task

Importing Access 2010 tables to SQL Server 2008 R2

I'm trying to import a series of Access 2010 tables to Sql Server 2008 R2.  The Access import drivers are for *.mdb (which if I recall was the file extension for Access when I was a kid, and don't recognize the .accdb file extention).  Similarly, the Excel driver is for Excel 2003.  Isn't there a driver and method to import directly to SQL 2008 from Access 2010? SQL is installed on my server, but Access is not installed on the server.  When I copy the file onto the server and try and open it directly into SQL, I get a 'no editor installed' error. I can't get the 'upsize' wizard to work becuase it won't open the connection to SQL, even though I enter the userid and password of the SQL DB owner.  I get the following error: ===================================================== Connection failed: ============================================================= I have to say I'm stumped.  The rest of the Office 2010 suite works really well together - perhaps I'm missing something very simple? Thanks!     I guess I could export my tables as Excel 2003 and then import them using Integration Services, or install SQL Express on my laptop and 'upsize' to that instance, but SQL State: ‘0100’ SQL Server Error: 11004 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Dirver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionOpen (Connect()). SSMS 2008 - Shows Service Status as Stopped Though Service is started

Hi, I have a SQL Server 2008 - Active/Passive Cluster. The issue I am facing here is that, when I do a Failover from Node A to Node B, All the Cluster Services come online and the SQL Services are running (checked using the SQL Configuration Manager and Services console). However when I open the management studio, The Service status Indicator shows a Red Block mark against the ServerName and the SQL Server Agent. When I try connecting to the server remotely from another server, the status is displayed correctly in the SSMS(i.e the green sign with the arrow) .  This issue happens when I locally login to the server and connect using ssms. I am an Admin on both the boxes and even the service account with which the services run also has admin privileges. Any pointers? Thanks,

JDBC access to SQL 2008 from Red Hat Linux

Client is Red Hat Linux. Server is Windows 2008 running MS-SQL 2008. I am able to connect to the database using a SQL Server User ID and pasword. I cannot connect to the database using a Windows Domain ID and password. Is the use of a Windows Domain ID and password supported?

Reporting Services 2008 - Anonymous Access

Hello,   In SSRS 2005 I was able to grant anonymous access to my reports by changing the authentication mode for the Reporting Services virtual directory in IIS to Anonymous and then adding the 'account used for anonymous access' to the permissions on the appropriate Reporting Services directories (in report manager).   Now with SSRS 2008 there are no virtual directories in IIS.   I tried to follow the instructions given:   http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281310.aspx (Authentication Types in Reporting Services)   Which instructed me to use the custom AuthenticationType, and following the instructions here:   http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281383.aspx (How to: Configure Custom or Forms Authentication in Reporting Services)   which just got me an error: The Authentication Extension threw an unexpected exception or returned a value that is not valid: . (rsAuthenticationExtensionError) Get Online Help For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors   Any ideas on how to set up anonymous access to SSRS2008?   Thanks for any time and help!   -Tim

Restoring 2008 Database with Filestream - Process cannot access file error

I'm trying to restore a copy of a database that has a filestream and am getting the error below. I've tried with move option to specify a new path and left it with default path, neither worked. Did a trace with procmon, didn't see anything. FileStream1 is a new folder that the restore process creates. I've deleted the folder, tried it with a new name, re-took the backup from the source machine, restarted SQL, rebooted the machine, drive permissions are open. I've run out of ideas on how to debug further. Looking up the error online wasn't much help either. Msg 3634, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 The operating system returned the error '32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.)' while attempting 'OpenFile' on 'X:\Data\FileStream1\4ecb2e48-0eee-4c99-a3f0-f1e6c7f00b24\f2efe374-9481-4c1b-a7f2-dcdcee350807\0000001b-0000aaa6-00f6'. Window 7 Sql 2008

Windows 7 Professional 64bit 2.45Ghz processor 4GB ram I am trying to complete a tutorial on ASP.NET on Lynda.com but they are using old versions and I cannot match up illustrations.  I have MS SQL server 2005 & 2008 with VS 2010 Express installed on my machine.  My question is where can I find a tutorial that will correspond with the setup I have configured on my computer as this is the way it came out of the box.  I am really excited to learn ASP.net.  I am intermediate skill level at HTML & CSS  I have limited exposure to Java Script C# PHP and MySQl  I have WAMP And Xamp installed on my machine.  I just have to find the tutorials lessons that are current with Windows 7 installation as I see it now MSSQL install and configuration seems to be WAY MORE complicated than WAMP Server that we used with PHP.  But I want to learn ASP.NET  Even the W3C school appears to be behind on the Windows 7 issues.   Please correct me where I have erred and steer me in the right direction.   Much Thanks in Advance, MIKE E"It's like déjà vu all over again." - Yogi Berra

Is PAE sufficient for SQL 2005 on Window 2008 32 bit

Hi, Environment: Windows 2008 32 bit, SQL 2005 with SP3 32 bit Standard edition, 24 GB RAM Need some clarification please. I know that using AWE - SQL Server can access more RAM than 4 GB using locked pages for caching etc. I also know the fact that for more than 16 GB of RAM usage the combination of PAE and AWE are required. However my question is related to PAE: a) If only PAE is enabled - Will SQL Server 2005 use more memory than 4 GB? b) From Control Panel - System - I see 24 GB of RAM and this is an indication that PAE is enabled. Is that correct? Or is there any other way to check if PAE is enabled on the system. c) From SQL Server Properties - I can see that SQL Server minimum and maximum memory are editable and one can change  the minimum and maximum RAM. However AWE is not enabled at this time. Will SQL use the amount or RAM specified in min and max Example: say 6 GB min and 10 GB max? If it will not use the >4GB memory specified (assuming PAE is enabled but AWE is NOT enabled)  then why are those two controls editable?
