Simplest way to open my script files?

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi everybody, I usually save my scripts in the default place offered my SSMS (the location of that place is hard to find). However, if I open a script from a disk from different location, now when I need to open my saved scripts it looks in that folder and not in the folder where all my scripts are kept. How can I open the script from the right place if I don't remember where that folder is and I don't want to re-start SSMS? Thanks a lot in advance.  Premature optimization is the root of all evil in programming. (c) by Donald Knuth Naomi Nosonovsky, Sr. Programmer-Analyst My blog

Can't open site in Designer/ Can't open files in Designer

I'm having trouble in Designer 2007.  I can not open any sites files on sites on our prodution server.  I get "Couldn't open file ..........aspx".  On our development server I can't even open sites.  I get "Invalid folder name".  Can anyone please advise?  I have seen other posts about this behavior, but none of the solutions have worked for me.  I've uninstalled Expression Web, I don't have Front Page installed, and I ran a repair installation on Designer.  Still no luck.  Any ideas please?

run a bunch of sql script files using a stored procedure (without using xp_cmdshell)

Is this possible? Let me elaborate. I need to automate the execution of a bunch of sql script files (*.sql) placed by my users in a certain folder. One way I can do this is by using some kind of a script to loop thru the files in that folder and for each *.sql file found, launch a 'sqlcmd' command to execute the current script file using the -i option, ie, sqlcmd -S <server> -i <the current sql file in the loop> I tried doing this, but ran into a liitle bit of difficulty with the particular scripting language (JAVA). I was going to research this a bit more, but I also wanted to consider something that doesn't involve another script. So I was thinking about doing this using a stored procedure, but then I was wondering, how would I run a sql script file from sql server? The only way I can think of is still using sqlcmd, but then to use that within a stored procedure, I would need to turn on xp_cmdshell. Although I can do that, that invloves getting other people involved so I was wondering if there is way to do this without turning on xp_cmdshell.

Receive/Delete Multiple FTP Files based on condition using SCRIPT(VB) TASK

I am trying to receive and delete multiple FTP files from a remote FTP server using Script task Below is the code   Dim FTPConnMgr As ConnectionManager FTPConnMgr = Dts.Connections("FTP Connection Manager") Dim FTPClientConn As FtpClientConnection = New FtpClientConnection(FTPConnMgr.AcquireConnection(Nothing)) Dim FileTimeStampNew As String = "20100913021807" Dim remoteFileNames(0) As String remoteFileNames(0) = Dts.Variables("FtpRemoteDirectory").Value & "*" & FileTimeStampNew & ".*" 'Below hardcoded FileName works good. But the problem is there are lots of file in the FTP folder that I dont want to receive 'remoteFileNames(0) = Dts.Variables("FtpRemoteDirectory").Value & "Company_alpha_Full_20100913021807.xml" Dim localPath As String = Dts.Variables("FtpLocalDirectory").Value FTPClientConn.Connect() FTPClientConn.ReceiveFiles(remoteFileNames, localPath, False, False) FTPClientConn.Close() Dts.TaskResult = ScriptResults.Success End Sub End Class If i specifically mention the RemotefileNames this works fine but, when I say *.* it executes succefully but doesn't receives the file. Powerpoint ppsx files open as read only in sharepoint with not option to edit

With Powerpoint 20007 in sharepoint(MOSS 2007) the PPSX files are opening in read only mode with no option to edit to be found. 2nd issue is ppsx files do not open on any persons computer as a show.  Is it possible to change this? How do I change this so I can edit the slides? Current "bad" solution is to save to local drive than upload them over the location  on sharepoint. BIDS wont let me edit script tasks, Package wont open without a "temp" folder in appdata???

I have a very stupid problem, because the way BIDS works is just hilariousy idiotic.    Short Story: 1) When i try to edit script tasks it will complain about "failed to create project at some random path in temp folder" and wont open anything. I cannot edit script tasks anymore. THe project is essentialy dead to me. REboot or restart wont help. I spent five hours on this project and i dont want to do all that work from scratch! 2) I cannot port my solution to antoher computer or place because it links to the files in appdata/local/temp folder of the pc for some reason. If i delete that folder or port the solution, it will complain about some file in temp folder called "3jews....tmp" and will say that solution is unopenable. Need help to resuce my project and be able to continue working on it!   Long Story: When you make a project, BIDS stores its files in a separate folder: a solution file, a project file, a package file etc. You might have thought, you can now carry your solution over by copying this folder. WRONG! The BIDS actually stores files of  the solution in /Users/name/AppData/Local/Temp folder! And It cannot open a solution/package/project without files from that folder, now what kind of idiotism is that?   It all started with BIDS not saving my script task changes, then telling me "cannot create project in folder

how to set files to open on the browser and not in office

On the site we have a Quick Reference with multiple links. Some are linked to a document in office that open slowly. What I would like is for them to open in the same window in IE. Can someone suggest were I can change the settings for this?
Thanks

Response.Write(string.Format("", url));

Hello all,

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated...

Here is the website situation:

Webpage A: look & feel alignments are in the central of the screen.  It has a submit button.  The last code in the submit command() is this message subject:

Response.Write(string.Format("<script>window.open('{0}', '_blank');</script>", url));

where url = another webpage B.

The outcome is fine.  Webpage B is populated properly.  However, Webpage A postback as aligment to the left, it is no longer the center.

I could not find a way to debug the issue.

Once again, thanks in advance.

Can't open Word & Excel files in MOSS2007

Hello,

Starting 2 days ago, my users can't open Excel and Word documents that contain spaces in their name (and of course 90% of the documents contains spaces :-( ). Everything else is OK (PDFs, etc).

What is interesting if you rename the files and eliminate the spaces or replaced them with any character (My Files.doc renamed to My_File.doc for example) then everything is fine, we can open and then save them. However I can't ask the users to do that for all documests (zillions :-).

We are using MOSS2007 on a single server Win 2003 R2 Std x64 with a separate SQL 2005 cluster.

I spent 4h otp with Microsoft premier support but no luck.

Anybody experienced the same issue? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Cristian
