ODBC call failed

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
I try to export a table from Access 2007 to SQL-Server Express 2008R2 and it returns the error: ODBC call failed. [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 1.0][SQL Sever] Line1: Specifed Scale 1 is invalid (#1002). The problem is related with a datetime column, because if I drop this column it is possible to export. Thanks for your help.

I need to establish a connection between an Access 2003 database (32 bit) and an 11g 64 bit Oracle database on a server. I am running Windows 7 on a 64 bit laptop. I did a clean install of Oracle 11g for 64 bit. I have no problem accessing the Oracle database via the Oracle SQL Developer. I just have a problem from within Access. I hope someone can help me. I've been fighting this for several months. Thanks in advance!

ODBC Call Failed - Error 3151

We have an Access database migrated from Access 97 to Acces 2007 with some linked tables to an SQL Server 2008 database. We are using a File DSN in the ODBC Administrator. Connection tests work fine there. In fact, we have a main form in the Access 2007 application that shows the data always correctly. The problem appears when we execute a task that makes the following call:

Dim dbs As Database
Dim rstAppend As Recordset

Set dbs = CurrentDb
Set rstAppend = dbs.OpenRecordset(strAccessTable, dbOpenDynaset, dbSeeChanges)

OpenRecordset throws the error number  3151 and occurs randomly but it appears quite frequently.  It's sporadic. When we don't get the error, the task works fine.

  1. It not happens always, mosty we're fine.
  2. When it happens it happens for all subsequent tasks tried. We have to close and reopen the Access database and pray to the good Lord that it works.

A call to SSPI failed: The target principal name is incorrect - How to ignore this Security Check

I find that I am getting this error since I am using the netTCPBinding. I don't get this exception when the client and server are on the same machine, but when they are on different machines, this exception occurs. If I set the identity on the end point as mentioned in the article: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/drnick/archive/2007/11/08/setting-a-user-principal-on-the-endpoint.aspx it is working fine.   So my question is , should the service end point always have an identity when using netTcpBinging? I tried setting Security.Mode = None and still I got this identity exception. is there any way through which I can ask the service to ignore the SSPI details and accept client request?   Thanks!

extracting from multiple tables in an odbc call/ssis

Hi,   I have an odbc for DBISAM, and can use it to import into sql server, but only one table at a time.  (when it get's to the choose table screen, it will only let me create a single SQL query.   does anyone know if I can extract from multiple tables using this?   If not - what would I need to change in the DTSX file so that my query goes from "select * from tablea" to "select * from tableb" and the destination table is also "tableb"?   also - can the DTSX file be change to run for multiple tables?

"Call to SQLExecDirect failed with %1"

Cross post from Windows Server 2008 Forums (MSFT Suggestion).  Original Post:

I am trying to set up Perfmon to log directly to a SQL 2008 Server (trying to avoid binary file + relog).  The SQL server is running locally on the same server I am trying to record perf counters from.  Note that I am NOT using SQL 2008's data collection features, and I am trying to log non-sql related counters.

I set up a SQL 2008 Native Client System DSN with Windows Authentication, but when I try and start my data collecter set I get an error message  that "Call to SQLExecDirect failed with %1", and the in event viewer I get "Call to SQLExecDirect failed with .".  The set is running as System, which has rights to the database.  SQL does not log any errors or a failed logon attempt.

The ODBC DNS 'Test' button says it connected successfully, and I am able to connect to the same database via Management Studio and ASP.Net.  I don't think its a SQL problem, but its hard to say when the error message is blank.

Any help fixing this, or ruling out SQL as the problem, would be appreciated.

[FtpWebRequest] System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException: A call to SSPI failed

Hi All,

   I'm using FtpWebReuqest, SSL enabled, to connect and upload files to an FTP server.

   During testing of the module i'm developing, I've encountered an unhandled exception indicating,

   "System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException: A call to SSPI failed, see inner exception. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The token supplied to the function is invalid"

Now before I decided to post this question here, I've searched the net and found several posts related to this. However, most them were not really helpful and not that clear. Hence, the post. :)

Additional info, I've already over ride the validation part of the SSL connection using the codes below:

ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = new RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(MyCertValidationCb);

public static bool MyCertValidationCb(object sender, X509Certificate certificate, X509Chain chain, SslPolicyErrors sslPolicyErrors)

        return true;
