form feild hints are not displaying for textboxses inside create user wizard?

I'm using following JS code to display input hint box besides the textbox whenever that asp.net textbox receives focus.

I'm doing this for a registration form and all of the textboxes are inside the asp.net create user wizard control.

<script type="text/javascript">
function addLoadEvent(func) {
  var oldonload = window.onload;
  if (typeof window.onload != 'function') {
    window.onload = func;
  } else {
    window.onload = function() {

function prepareInputsForHints() {
	var inputs = document.getElementsByTagName("TextBox");
	for (var i=0; i<inputs.length; i++){
		// test to see if the hint span exists first
		if (inputs[i].parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0]) {
			// the span exists! on focus, show the hint
			inputs[i].onfocus = function () {
				this.parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0].style.display = "inline";
			// when the cursor moves away from the field, hide the hint
			inputs[i].onblur = function () {
				this.parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0].style.display = "none";

Why is there no wizard control in WPF? Is there an easy way to create one, like with the TabControl

Hello, First, NO THIRD PARTY PRODUCTS!  In my search, it seems like anyone asking for a wizard control is sent to a third party to buy it.  I have no interest in buying a third party product, so if you are one of those that would suggest it, please don't, I'm simply not interested. If my understanding of page framework is correct, that is, the page is within a separate XAML file and the events are handled via its code behind, then I am not interested in such a scenario.  Nor am I interested in any fancy plumbing to make page framework work the way I want. All I want is the simple wizard control.  I'm amazed that such an important function was left out of WPF, especially since the TabControl is so close to being a Wizard Control. I'm thinking that the TabControl should be able to be made to function like a wizard, but my search finds nothing of any value.  Is the TabControl not suitable to be made to function like a wizard? Any help (other than third party products) would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Robert

Need urgent help using JQuery DatePicker inside asp.net user control

Hello,I am able to use the DatePicker inside an aspx page with no problem at all but when I try to use that inside a usercontrol it gives me an error "Object expected"I have the links to my Jquery css and script files from the master page and have the following code inside a usercontrol:<script type="text/javascript"><!--    $(document).ready(function() {    var txt1 = document.getElementById('<%= txtDate.ClientID %>');    $(txt1).datepicker({ dateFormat: 'dd/mm/yy', duration: ''   });    });          // --></script><asp:TextBox ID="txtDate" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>

Wizard Control textbox data is lost

I'm using a wizard contol with several textbox fields. I have two textbox fields disabled (textbox19 and textbox20)because I don't want the user to change the values that are calculated from the other textboxes (see javascript below). I do this with javascript on the clientside. My problem occurs when the user is in STEP2 and goes back to STEP1 the values in the disabled fields are gone. Is there a way to fix this? I would also like to perform a validation on textbox20 but I haven't been able to do that with the textbox disabled. How can I do validations on a field that is disabled? I've tried enabling the fields and using readonly = true but that doesn't work either. Any suggestions? // Client Side script to do calculations <script type="text/javascript">       function calculateSubTotal() {      var txt6 = document.getElementById('<%= TextBox6.ClientID %>');     var txt12 = document.getElementById('<%= TextBox12.ClientID %>');     var txt18 = document.getElementById('<%= TextBox18.ClientID %>');     var txt14 = document.getElementById('<%= TextBox14.ClientID %>');     var txtSubTotal = document.getElementById('<%= TextBox19.Cl

User control or sub-form inside tab-pages? Best practice?

I've got a Windows Forms application with numerous tab-pages within a tab-control. Each tab-page is a diffirent user entry form with different controls of varying types. As the application is fairly large it is important that more than one developer can work on it simultaneously. Thus we decided to create a form for each tab so that different developers could work on different forms at the same time without overwriting each other's code. Each of these "sub-forms" are then assigned its relevant container tab-page as its parent. This works well but I was wondering if this is good practice or not, after another colleague commented that we are making forms look like user controls and that we should rather be creating a user control for each tab. I've converted two of the forms to user controls with relative ease and it does work nicely as well but with one draw back. On the main parent form, e.g. frmMain, where the tab control lives, there is one single button the clear the current display. When you click "Clear display" it clears various others items displayed on the main from, finds the current selected tab and clears its contents. The latter is easy to do with sub forms as I can simply close and dispose the sub form inside the selected tab, and load a new instance. I don't have to write custom logic to go and reset/clear each control on that form. Thi

Best way to create a collection of User Control objects?

Hi, I'm completely new to WPF (this week) and still grasping C# and .net as a whole. I've created a User Control which I need to add (and be able to remove) multiple instances of into a vertical list. I've so far stuck this in a Listbox although I might change this later when I'm more comfortable. So when I add the object I've created as a ListBox item it displays fine, but my issue is I need to able to delete items and add items and have those items auto update etc - so I'm guessing the WPF way to do things is to build a collection and have it bind to the list box. My question is this, what is the best type of collection to hold such objects. I've tried an Observablecollection so that I can monitor changes but when I give it a.Itemsource = Observablecollection it just presents me with a list of <Collection>. Anyone any ideas?

How to create a server control array

Let's say I have 50 different SQL SELECT statements which each one returns one integer value...

e.g. SQL 1 = select count(row) from table where condition = 'a'

      SQL 2 = select count(row) from table where condition = 'b'

      .....  so on  .....

      SQL 50 = select count(row) from table where condition = 'zzz'

If I have 50 labels (server control) and want to put each SELECT result to corresponding labels by using a FOR LOOP.

      for (int i=0; i<49; i++)

            // connect to the database and run each SELECT statement

            // store each result to corresponding label.  (Result 1 -> Label 1, Result 2 -> Label 2, .........., Result 50 -> Label 50)

I have all 50 SQL SELECT statements to run in a loop and each one has the result that I want.

I need to display all 50 results in 50 different labels (one-to-one) and just don't know how I need to name each label, so that I can use them like a array.

User Control with JQuery doesnot work inside update panel

Hi All,

I created a .NET user control to work as a DropdownCheckbox and added Jquery to give the sliding and hide effects. The code is as below:

 <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
        var showRegionWindow = function (ev) {
            var pos = $("#lnkChangeRegion").offset();
            var width = 230;
            var height = 55;
            //$("#changeRegionPanel").css({ "left": +((pos.left) - 215) + "px", "top": height + 16 + "px" });.
            document.getElementById("lnkChangeRegion").style.display = 'none';

        var hideRegionWindow = function (ev) {
            var textVal = "";

go back to Create User Step on CreateUserWizard control

I'm using a CreateUserWizard do add users to a web app. Everything is working great, but on thing... the Complete Step :-/

I don't need that extra step, and more, i'm using this control as an option where the administrator of the application adds his trusted users to the site. So, its part of a web form that has a list of users on one side and the CreateUserWizard on the other.

What i tried to do, and was unsuccessful, was to change the ActiveStepIndex back to 0 then the user creation was completed, but this didn't work. The Complete Step still appears. Also, i added this to the continue button event and it did nothing either: CreateUserWizard1.ActiveStepIndex = 0;

Is there any way i can "hide" this step? If not, is there a way to go back to the Create User Step when i click the Continue button in the Complete Step?

CalendarExtender loses style when placed inside a web user control.

How to create a Custom TextBox Control to provide the custom functionality

I have a requirement that I need to develop a custom textbox control which should support the functionality like:

1. Should display the Default Cursor as Cross Cursor

2. Textbox should be displayed like excel sheet cell (specific to cell) and when user will click the TextBox it should be selected but can not be entered any data inside.

3. Context Menu should be displayed with some information while double clicked on the TextBox but should not be edited the textbox.

4. Context Menu should be displayed if right click on the TextBox

6. TextBox should be on entry mode if user presses any ALPHNUMERIC key from Keyboard.

7. DataValidation should be there when user enters any data.

Can anyone help me on this how to develop such kind of control or May be somebody has already done those things and can give me a hint...

Thanks in advance for the help.

Need to create a customizable user control

I am planning to write a user control but need to know if anyone has ever read any good article on how to write a usercontrol. My requirement is to create a kind of panel control that can have option buttons, checkboxes and a gridview control. I already have created this control but everything is hardcoded (styles, other properties) in user control. I want to expose them to the user so that he can change the appearance and the placement of the controls by himself. Also, I want users to consume this control something like

<uc1: MyPanel runat="server">
  <panelgridview property1="" property2="" datasource="">...</panelgridview>
</uc1: MyPanel>

Not sure how to make the those sub tags for a usercontrol. Any pointers or help is much appreciated.
