Sql Compact Subscription failure - Win 7 Ultimate 64 Bit Sql 2008 64 bit, Sql Ce 3.5 sp1

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Greetings,  Testing sql compact subscription setup on a single machine.  Can NOT get the subscription to initialize.  This works without fail on server 2003, 32 bit, and IIS 6.  I think it is security but not sure.  Using web syncConfigured publication and web sync went fine.  Key secret here was using sqlce 3.5 sp1 tools. the http://localhost/sync/sqlcesa35.dll?diag works fineThe create snapshot works fineAdded the IUSR with db_owner rights to the primary database.Added the IUSR to the publication access list. The Agent is running, I checked that.Created a new sql ce db in the management studio and configured the subscription through the wizard, like I do all the time in sql 2005.It fails with the following error codes, which I suspect are security related.  Below is the setup for the subscription:Publisher: My-PCPublisherDatabase: MyDBPublication: MyDB_PUBSubscriber: 0024HostName: 0024InternetUrl: http://localhost/sync/sqlcesa35.dllWeb Server Authentication: AnonymousPublisherSecurityMode: Windows AuthenticationError Message below:2010/03/11 15:20:07 == SQLCESA Version ==> 3.5.5692.02010/03/11 15:20:07 Hr=00000000 SQLCE Server Agent Loaded - Version 3.5.5692.002010/03/11 15:20:17 Thread=4A0 RSCB=1 Command=SCHK Hr=80045637 ERR:Initialize failed for DistributorSessionID =  02010/03/11 15:20:17 Thread=4A0 RSCB=1 Command=SCHK Hr=8004

SQL 2008 Upgrade Replication failure

we upgraded to Sql 2008 standard edition last night from 2000 and our replication is now failing, cannot delete it or enter new ones.   I found one article saying the following stored procedures need to be run to upgrade the replcation:   exec sp_vupgrade_replication  exec sp_vupgrade_repl_metadata   however the first one throws and error and the second one seems not to exists.  does anyone have any insight into this. or how to delete the replications?   the error from the stored proc sp_vupgrade_replication  is :   Upgrading subscription settings and system objects in database [SoxAuditSystem]. Attempting to copy article resolvers from SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\Replication\ArticleResolver Msg 25026, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_registercustomresolver, Line 82 The proc sp_registercustomresolver cannot proceed because it is not run in the context of the distribution database, or the distribution database is not properly upgraded.

SQL Server 2008 Install failure - Reporting Services Rule Failures

I'm installing SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7.  I'm going through the install and on the "Installation Rules" page I have two failures: Reporting Services Catalog Database File Existance Reporting Services Catalog Temporary Database File Existance Clicking on each of the failures they both say that each file exists "Select a reporting services file-only mode installation" Clicking the "Help" button tells me to "Rename, move, or delete the files" This is the only information I can find on this exact failure.  I'm not technical enough to know exactly where these files are or what they are named.  I cannot proceed any further without correcting this issue.  I'll include some of the shorter summary log files.  I can include other detail log files if that would help. Thank you so much for any help. Error installing SQL Server 2008 R2 on a Windows 7 Ultimate 32 machine

HI all, I'm installing the Developer edition of MS SQL Server 2008 R2 (downloaded today) on a Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit virtual machine (using VMWare Workstation 6.5).  Yesterday I had tried MS SQL Server 2008 R0 with the same results.  Both give an error about 30% into the installation process: "An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'VSLangProj80,Version="",PublicKeyToken="b03f5f7f11d50a3a",Culture="neutral",FileVersion="8.0.50727.1826"' When I click the OK button, the install rolls that last bit back and then continues.  Unfortunatly I didn't take a screenshot of the main install window, just the error window. Any ideas what this error means?  The install yesterday seemed to work, but I'm not through the R2 install yet.  The R0 install also failed to install the documentation for some reason (I left it running during the night) Note that I have VS2010 (original release plus downloaded updates) installed and then just some small stuff like Snagit and Skype on this VM.  I updated Windows 7 completely before I started installing R2 so it is completely up to date as of midnight! SQL server 2008 compact editioin + Entity Framework: Can we backup the SQL server compact edition da

our application uses the SQL server 2008 compact edition and entity framework. The application will control the instrument. It may run for several days before it stops. In order to protect the database crash (database failure), we plan to backup SQL compact database during running. Can we backup or duplicate the ~.sdf when application is running? Is there any SQL server command we can call inside the application to achive the backup? Or we only can backup the database when application is not running. thx!

Getting "Provider load failure" from SSRS Configuration Manager (SQL 2008 R2 Hot Fix CU3 did not fix

After upgrading our SQL 2008 cluster to R2, SSRS on one node works fine, but the second node will not allow connection via the Configuration Manager (getting "Provider load failure").  We've done re-installs, repairs and applied Hot Fix CU3, but the issue remains. NOTE: It's understood that SSRS is not a clustered resource.  We have it installed as separate instances on each of the two cluster nodes.

Cannont connect to New Installation of SQL SERVER 2008 from New Vista Ultimate machine(s)

I have a new SQL Server 2008 Development edition installation on a Newly setup Server running Windows Server 2008 Enterprise edition.  The server is mainly a file server and is not setup as a domain controller.  Since my test environment is fairly basic (server and two Vista Ultimate machines) I thought the connection through data sources on the client machines would be straight forward.  But it isn't working.  I can see the server, ping the server, etc. but when I try and connect the client through a system DNS it will not connect using SQL Server authentication using a loginId.  (since it isn't on a domain, I can't use Windows NT Authentication).   The error is SQL Error 10060 and SQL Error 17.  (connection failed and SQL Server does not exist or access denied)  Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. SQL 2008 R2 cluster installation failure - Failed to find shared disks

The "Detail.txt" log has alot of "access is denied" errors and here is just a sample. Any ideas what might be causing this issue?

SSRS 2008 R2 After using SSL, In Report Manager new datasource link, upload file link, subscription

I have provided my setting and environment information below. My goal is to set Report Manager and Report Server URL with SSL connection so all URLs uses HTTPS (Secure connection) all the time. and remove HTTP access .

I applied following settings for this but I am getting errors. With Current Settings that I mensioned below, I am able to login into WebService URL successfully with all links working. For Report Manager URL  I logged in successfully but for some pages I am getting HTTP links instead HTTPS. It shows HTTP links for new datasource link, upload file link, subscription links so it shows blank page

I tried to look for solution and I applied but did not worked. I did some experiment with changing urls using application and manually from RSReportServer.config file but still not succedded.

Steps taken to solve problem:

  • To force to use HTTPS only, I tried to change SecureConnectionLevel = 0 to  1,2 or 3 but when accessing to Report Manager it gives 401 Authentication error.
  • If I remove http://+:80/ReportServer and tried to visit 2nd URL with HTTPS. The Web Service URL opens successfully. but Report Manager url gives me er

MSSQL 2008 SP1 install fails: A failure was detected for a previous installation, patch, or repair

When attempting to install SQL Server 2008 SP1, I get the "Setup Failure" message below, along with Error code 0x84B20001.  I did read the summary*.txt files from previous installations in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log" as mentioned in the error message; the "Final result" and "Exit message" of the previous install is "Passed", so I'm not finding an answer that way.  I have also pasted the version info below.  What would you advise?

A failure was detected for a previous installation, patch, or repair during configuration for features [SQL_DTS_Full,Connectivity_Full,SQL_SSMS_Full,SDK_Full,Tools_Legacy_Full,SQL_BIDS_Full,SQL_SSMS_Adv,SQL_PowerShell_Tools_ANS,SQL_WRITER,]. In order to apply this patch package (KB968369), you must resolve any issues with the previous operation that failed. View the summary.txt log to determine why the previous operation failed.

Analysis Services 2008 R2 Installation Failure

I'm trying to install SQL Server 2008 R2 x86 Evaluation Edition on my Windows XP SP3 32bit computer (all current updates to the OS are installed) but I get an error when I install Analysis Services.

Other features install successfully. I have only a problem with Analysis Services. To be more specific:

When installation is running on "ASConfigAction_install_postmsi_Cpu32" I get the error message: "The Service could not be started. Reason: Service 'MSSQLServerOLAPService' start request failed." Configuration error code: 0xD448CDD2

The installer then continues, but eventually crashes. In the end it says that it managed to install everything but Analysis Services.

I used default instance, default installation folders, windows authentication. Didn't change anything installer suggested. Added myself to AS administrators.

I disabled firewall and antivirus prior to running setup. I'm an administrator user (not part of any domain).

I used NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for Analysis Service. NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE for SQL Server Engine.

After installation if I try to run AS Service from SQL Server Configuration Manager I get the following error:

"The request failed or the service did not respond in a timely fashion. Consult the event log or other applicable logs for details.&qu
