Is there a way to make a modal popup panel active on page load so that the user can't do anything until they deal with the popup dialog?

I have a page with a ModalPopupExtender control and when the page loads I can see the popup for just a second before the rest of the content loads into the browser. Is there a way to stop this from happening? Can I set a CSS property to make the popup invisible prior to page load?
Here's what I'm trying to achieve. I got a url field in my list which contains a link to a custom aspx page I've created earlier. I've added the "&IsDlg=1" property to my url and I want to page to be opened as a modal dialog. However the page
opens full window and not as a dialog at all.
I developed a page where i m using jquery treeview plugin to generate tree. It worked fine on FF, IE8 with out ajax.
But when my page loads thro' ajax call in IE8, it is not collapsing or expanding tree.
Thanks in advance.
Displaying an Open File dialog is certainly easy in the Microsoftî . NET Framework with Windowsî Forms, but the resulting window is not as customizable as when you create it through the Win32î API. With Windows 2000, Microsoft added a nice feature-the places bar, which is the vertical toolbar that appears on the left side of the window to let you select a frequently visited folder.

We have a monitoring tool set to check to see if the home pages for our 3 web apps load in under 60 seconds every 10 minutes. All 3 web apps load in under 3 seconds on every 10 minute check except for one exception. One check every
day one of the web app's home page takes longer than 60 seconds to load. This happens at 11:45PM when there is very little user usage on the environment. The characteristics of this page are as follows: The only thing on
the page is a list view web part which was added by the browser. The page has not been customized with SPD or code at all. The list that it pulls is a simple links list that has 281 items on it. The view
pulls all 281 items and displays them in sets of 100. I cannot find any associated event in the server events and/or SharePoint ULS logs nor are there any daily sharepoint timer jobs running at that time. Our full index happens
at midnight with incremental happening hourly. Our enviroment is 2 WFEs, 1 App/indexer and we have a separate SQL cluster backend.
Could someone lead me possibly in the direction I should take next in my troubleshooting?

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction re troubleshooting. We have a MOSS server farm - 3 WFE 1 APP 1 SQL cluster. All Server 2008 sp1 x64. We see occasional http timeouts (HttpException (0x80004005): Request timed out) with associated
http 500 error. I have enabled failed request tracing and can see the following:
1. -GENERAL_REQUEST_START 157203 ms
AppPoolId SharePoint - intranet.*********.com80
and then later in the trace:
141. -MODULE_SET_RESPONSE_ERROR_STATUS Warning
HttpReason Internal Server Error
ErrorCode The operation completed successfully. (0x0)
The problem happens on other pages too but the rest of the time the page is returned in less than 5 seconds. The server app logs and sharepoint ULS logs do not give any more detailed info. What I want to know is what other troubleshooting step can I take
for http500 errors.
In the past on 32bit environments I have used de
We have designed a Dashboard with single page
1. A Scorecard --Zone 1
2. Analytic Charts --Zone 2
When a person clicks on any of the KPI on Scorecard corrosponding Chart for that particular KPI is displayed in Zone 2.
So far So good
Now our client has come up with a requirement that
whenever he clicks a KPI the chart should open in a new browser window instead of Zone 2.
Is this possible in Performancepoint 2007 or Sharepoint 2007 if yes then how to accomplish this
