SQL Server 2008 Uninstall

I am running SQL Server 2008 on VISTA. I am having problems with SSIS components tha need to run in 32-bit.  It was recommended to unistall 2008 and re-install 2005.  However, trying to uninstall 2008 is causing my machine to freeze half-way through the process.  Before I tried to unistall I tried to repair and it also caused my screen to freeze (I issued a hard-shut down of my machine).  Now I am not sure what is happending.  How can I fix this?

SQL Server 2008 R2 deploying any version of sharepoint results in extremly slow DB creation

Hello, When installing any version of Sharepoint(2007,2010) during the "Creating Configuration Database" Step it takes over 10 hours to complete.  Then creating a web app takes just as long. and the sites are extreemply slow.  Environment: 1) DB Server - SQL Server 2008 R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 2) Webserver - to host Sharepoint 2010 on Windows Server 2008 R2 The Servers are on the same network and running with lots of horsepower, disk and memory.  Are there any know issues with this and should we install Cummulative Update 3? Maybe that has a fix.  We exhausted all our options and need justification to apply the CU3 hotfix(s). Thanks for your help.

SQL Server 2008 Installation / Uninstall failed: Error 1603

Hello! I've been trying to install the SQL Server 2008 CTP 5.0 on a Windows Server 2008. The installation failed and left the shared components installed but the database engine was missing. So I tried to roll back the installation and stumbled upon the problem again. Now I can't install or uninstall any SQL Server (I tried 2005 as well) without these results. This is the file *Sql_Cpu32_1_ComponentUpdateSetup.log === Verbose logging started: 01.01.2001  20:30:03  Build type: SHIP UNICODE 4.00.6001.00  Calling process: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\setup100.exe ===MSI (c) (30:CC) [20:30:03:671]: Resetting cached policy valuesMSI (c) (30:CC) [20:30:03:671]: Machine policy value 'Debug' is 0MSI (c) (30:CC) [20:30:03:671]: ******* RunEngine:           ******* Product: {8151C56C-5426-481C-96AF-F221FE1A10F2}           ******* Action:            ******* CommandLine: **********MSI (c) (30:CC) [20:30:03:687]: Client-side and UI is none or basic: Running entire install on the server.MSI (c) (30:CC) [20:30:03:687]: Grabbed execution mutex.MSI (c) (30:CC) [20:30:04:062]: Cloaking enabled.MSI (c) (30:CC) [20:30:04:062]: Attempting to enable all disabled privileges before calling Install on ServerMSI (c) (30:CC) [20:30:04:125]: Incrementing counter to disable shutdown. Cannot Restore Backup from Sharepoint Server 2007 to Sharepoint Server 2010 Trial Version

After installing the trial version of Sharepointn 2010 I wanted to restore my Sharepoint 2007 sites to it but received the following error:  "The site collection could not be restored. If this problem persists, please make sure the content databases are available and have sufficient free space." I went on to create a new content database in sharepoint 2010 but it still did not work. The old database i.e the one used by the sharepoint 2007 server is SQL 2005. During the installation of the sharepoint 2010 version I selected SQl Server Express for the database. Is there any specifics for migrating from MOSS 2007 to sharepoint 2010? Thanks for helping

Fresh Win7 Ultimate install. Fresh VS2010 Ultimate install. Now trying to install Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 Management Studio Express. I get a dialog that says, "Your version of SQL Server 2008 isn't compatible with this version of Windows." There is a link provided Click to download the update from the Microsoft Corporation website. That link leads me to the download for SQL Server 2008 Express Edition Service Pack 2 – CTP. And THAT link leads to a VERY scary installer. Is this REALLY what I'm supposed to do? Thanks Eric
