I am using c# in VS 2010 Express. I have a MDF database that I connect to through "Database Explorer". Database Explorer will not let me SAVE columns that I have modified. As I know in SQL Server 2008 full edition you can change the setting
"Prevent saving changes that require table recreation" in Management Console to prevent this. I haven't got Management Console and can't see it in install.
How do I change this setting if I haven't got management console? Is it in Registry or Config File.
Are there any good practices to follow in order to remove/uninstall SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition from Windows 7 professional laptop? Thanks for your comments.
I installed a SQL Server 2008 Express R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 machine on 15th february 2010.
Today I can't start the "SQL Server" windows service. I have tried manually, but the error is:
"Window could not start the Sql Server (SQLEXPRESS) on Local computer"
After trying to start the the "SQL Server" windows service, I have read on the Event viewer the following error:
"SQL Server evaluation period has expired".
After trying to launch the SQL Management studio Express 2008 I have read this erroe on a pop-up windows:
"Evaluation period has expired."
I though that the express edition was free. I need only to register or to buy?
How can I buy?
I am in hurry. Please let me know! Thank you very much.
We are trying to install VWD 2010 on a windows 2008 server. We already have installed the 2008 version as well as SQL 2005, 2008 and 2008 R2. The Web Platform installer is not installing VWD 2010 however.
At first it notified us that the OS does not allow it, after running tons of updates on the OS (some of which failed) it is still not doing it, not even donwloading it. The latest message simply asked us to post the error on the forum.
Has anybody had similar experiences? If so, how was it solved?

We installed WSS 3.0 from scratch on the new server. We put the default databases on a server with Microsoft SQL Server 2008.
Then we made a backup in the production server with the following command: stsadm -o backup -url
https://portal -filename musa.bak
After that we restored the backup in the new server with the following command: stsadm -o restore -url
https://uymvd18 -filename c:\sharepoint\portal-2010-10-05-21-00-06.dat -overwrite
(portal is the name of the old server and uymvd18 is the name of the new one)
Everything worked ok, but the when we try to do a search in the new se

I avoided Vista because of the overbearing security issues but I put Windows 7 Ultimate on my new computer. I really like it so far except for 2 big issues. I won’t
go into VPN nightmare I’m having here but the other is that for the first time ever I’m having lots of SQL Server permission issues. I’m running Windows 7 Ultimate, I run SSMS as an administrator how can I get full rights on my SQL Server
as I had in XP where I could create files anywhere?
The first issue I had was that I couldn’t install the AdventureWorkLT DB because I didn’t have create permissions (that is bizarre default) but I got
around that by granting Full Control to the Data folder.
Now I’m having another problem that I cannot solve. I cannot even export a SQL Query to a file. I get an “unrecoverable error” popup. Here is what
is in event viewer but if click the link in event viewer the suggestions of how to fix it does not work.

For some of the ASP.NET features to work with SQL Server 2005 some "Windows Features" had to be turned on (list below). My question is this the same for SQL Server 2008 Express SP1 and SQL Server Express R2?
