I can attach to the sql server on my cluster but am unable to on a remote machine error is: Cannot connect to clustered name\instance name Addtional info A network-related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to sql server.  The server was not found or was not accessible.  Verify that the instance name is correct and the SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

I get this message when I try to launch a report (.rdl) from Windows Sharepoint 2007.  I have followed the steps to integrate SQL 2005 SP2 with Sharepoint 2007.  I can launch the report by navigating to "http://server:880/reportserver/.."  I am using a shared datasource that I created within sharepoint.  Any help would be appreciated.

How to Establish a Remote Web Site Connection in SharePoint Designer 2007

I am modifying a SharePoint site and so far so good.  Some of the objects were created using Visual Studio 2008 (C#).  I was able to modify these objects and implement them on the targete machine without issue.  The final step is to implement the ASPX pages that were modified using SharePoint Designer 2007.  These are aspx pages that are used to modify items in lists.  All the pages involved in this upgrade are customized.  I need to upgrade the target site with the modified version of these pages.  My intent is to copy the code from the page in the source site and past it into the same page on the target site.  I tried using the Remote Web Site connection tool in SharePoint Designer 2007 but received the following error message:

"Unable to open 'https://(site address)'.  Server Error:  Could not find a Web server at 'website'.  Please check to make sure that the Web server name is valid and your proxy settings are set correctly.  If you are sure that everything is correct, the Web server may be temporarily out of service."

I am not sure how to first check to see if the Web Server is temporarily out of service.  I would appreciate your input on how to verify this.

Background information of target machine:  WinServer 2008, IIS 7, Sharepoint (MOSS2007), site on port 80

WCF issues sending large data - "An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"

Hi Guys I have posted the following on www.asp.net but thought it might be productive posting here too.I have been pulling my hair out trying to fix an issue with sending data over WCF, I have read pretty much every THREAD on this forum regarding or similar to this issue without any successful solution.  I have a simple data object which has a [DataMember] with a data type of byte[]. I use this to send binary data from my web app as follows: Asp.net MVC website --> WCF Client (Has my Service References) --> My Services (MyServices.svc) --> Business/Data Tier Everything is being executed from within VS 2008 Pro.   Now I have successfully sent data up to 2.2MB, however it fails if i try and send a file such as 2.3MB or larger i get the following exceptions: General Exception Exception rethrown at [0]:    at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.HandleReturnMessage(IMessage reqMsg, IMessage retMsg)   at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.PrivateInvoke(MessageData& msgData, Int32 type)   at SoftApp.WCFClient.MyServiceReference.IMyService.Document_Save(DtoDocument dtoDocument, Int32 usercode)   at SoftApp.WCFClient.MyServiceReference.MyServiceClient.Document_Save(DtoDocument dtoDocument, Int32 usercode) in c:\dev\softapp\softapp.wcfclient\service references\myservicereference\refe

Hi.   I have read the other threads regarding this but they do not solve my problem. All i am trying to do is upload a file from the webserver onto another server via FTP. But i get the above error and am at my wits end as to why.   below is the code:   Dim fs As New FileStream("H:\Visual Studio 2005\Websites\Website1\testfile.txt", FileMode.Open) Dim filecontents(fs.Length) As Byte fs.Read(filecontents, 0, fs.Length)   Dim remotePath As String = "ftp://elonwactd.uk.ml.com/apps/files/IPBHVGTRADE/QA5/in/testfile.txt" Dim ftp As FtpWebRequest = FtpWebRequest.Create(remotePath) ftp.Credentials = New System.Net.NetworkCredential("user1", "passwd1") ftp.KeepAlive = False ftp.UseBinary = True   ' (have tried UploadFile as well instead of UploadFileWithUniqueName) ftp.Method = WebRequestMethods.Ftp.UploadFileWithUniqueName     fs.Close()   ftp.GetRequestStream.Write(filecontents, 0, filecontents.Length) ftp.GetRequestStream.Close() ftp.GetResponse.Close()     Below is the stack trace that i get. Remote Connection to SQL Server 2008

Hi everyone,    I'm allowing remote connections, have started the SQL Server Browser, and have the TCP/IP protocol enabled for my server instance, but I still can't connect to my SQL server remotely.   I have my router forwarding to the local IP for it when using port 1433 and it works when I put the router ip with 1433 locally, but it gives me an error when I try this remotely. It throws a timeout error, so it isn't even reaching it.   Any suggestions?

BIDS Connection Manager Cannot Connect to Remote Oracle Db

Hi All,
I'm not having much luck getting an 'Oracle Provider for OLE DB' remote connection in connection manager to work when creating an SSIS package in BIDS.

I've covered off all the steps in the following link

The local machine is running SQL 2005 Sp2 Enterprise Edition on W2003 Sp2 Standard Edition X64

Using the Oracle 'Net Configuration Assistant' I can connect successfully to the remote service

I'm using ODAC 10g Release 2.

The steps to reproduce the error are as follows

1. in BIDS after creating an SSIS Solution
2. Right click in the  Connection Manager and select new OLE DB Connection
3. Click 'New'
4. Select 'Oracle provider for OLE DB'
5. Under server I enter the service name that I created in the Oracle 'Net Configuration Assistant'
6. Enter the user name and password as I entered in the Oracle 'Net Configuration Assistant'
7. When I click 'Test Connection' I get the following error

Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. ORA-12154: TNS could not resolve the connect identifier specified

I've spent a lot of time trying to get this to work and tried othe

trapping connection to remote object

I have a .net Remoting application.   I would like to do some tracking when connections are made.   Is there a way to interrogate connections being made to my remote object?

I have a singleton object, running as a service.   Basically when a ui connects I want to report back the state, and any pending messages.   So by looking at the connections I can keep a ptr to the next group of messages based on the client that connected.

Any insight into this would be a big help.

Problem with remote connection using NetTcpBinding in WCF...

I try to implement a file storage and recovery system using WCF and NetTcpBinding, when I test the system locally (in the same sub-red) all work fine, but I can't communicate with my server application from another domain (not in the same sub-red). I was verify all the configuration for my machine firewall, router and application, but I not see the problem. My question is: Is possible that WCF or more precisely NetTcpBinding require extra configuration for remote access? It is my app.config file...

<?xml version="1.0"?>
    <compilation debug="true"/>
      <service behaviorConfiguration="BackUpBehavior"
        <endpoint address=""

Remote Connection Of SQL Server 2000

Hi All,

Am creating a C# Windows Application. Am using SQL Server 2000 as my database. I have created a setup for my application. I have to install the application in some computers connected through WORKGROUP. Now am installing my application in a client machine which doesn't have any SQL Server or Visual Studio. After installing i need to configure the App.Config to set the ConnectionString. How can i do this?

This is my connection string after installing. How can i modify this to access remote sql server?

<add key="ConnectionString" value="Password=sa;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=sa;Initial Catalog=Fahd;Data Source=(local)"/>

how to enable remote Connection sql server 2008

I've just installed sql server 2008 on a vista server, unfortunately I forgot to enable remote connection when I was installing it. As I need this feature really I tried to enable I but "Surface Area Configuration" of sql 2005 seems to be vanished in this new version. Despite  I searched like 2 hours, I couldn't find any useful solution,  interestingly all the results are either nonsense or related to 2005 version.

Please me what the hell should I do and I believe many people will use your answer!

Thank you in advance

How to grab ip address of remote connection to store in table

Hey guys move if in wrong area

I am trying to create a bit of a VPN program using sql server.

I have figured out how to have a form grab the users ip address and port from a tcp connection and store it into a table.

Now I want to integrate this directly into the sql server.

I know you can filter connections by IP using login triggers but is there a way to do the same when a command is issued to the database.
