Here's the scenario: On the server: (Windows 2003, sql server 2005 sp 3) 1. named server is running on port 1433 2. all protocols except VIA is enabled 3. Remote Connections is enabled for both tcp and named pipes on surface area configuration 4. SQL Browser is running 5. Windows Firewall is disabled 6. Network firewall has allowed TCP traffic to port 1433, one way. 7. can ping the client 8. Local Securty Policy to access this computer from the network is permitted to everyone 9. SQL User and windows user can login to the server 10. No login failed connections on the error logs On the client: (WIndows XP sp2) 1. server can be ping 2. telnet server 1433 is successful 3. NSlookup can resolve server name 4. System DSN and USer DSN using SQL Server driver works to other servers Creating a DSN to the server results to Connection Failed:  SQL State 01000' SQL Server Error: 53 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL DRIVER] [DBNETLIB] CONNECTION.OPEN(CONNECT()). SSIS And Sybase Source OLEDB connectivity issue with code page for character set

Hi I am using SSIS 2008 to connect the Sybase Server version 15.0.3 64-bit. The default character set id used by this Sybase server is 4 (i.e. roman8). (http://manuals.sybase.com/onlinebooks/group-charc/chg0300e/charsets/@Generic__BookTextView/1706;pt=266) I had installed Sybase Client for Sybase OLEDB Driver (ASEOLEDB) to integrate this in OLEDB Source Editor. As per guidance from one of the past MSDN forum discussion, I tried setting property of AlwaysUseDefaultCodePage property to "FALSE"  (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqlintegrationservices/thread/f5af9328-e1fb-48d7-a85d-1d08bb7cf0e5/). However, I am still experiencing error message as follows:- ********************************************************* Error at Package2 [Connection manager "xxxxxx.xxxxxxx"]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR.  An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available.  Source: "ASEOLEDB"  Hresult: 0x80004005  Description: "[00000] [Native Code: 30061] [ASEOLEDB]Could not load code page for requested charset". Connectivity Issue

I have 2 servers, Server1 and Server2 in the same domain, DomainX.Both are running SQL Server 2005. DomainX\UserY is a member of both the Server2 local Administrators group and the DomainX Adminsitrators group. When I run this from Server1 with the correct password, I get the following results... H:\>sqlcmd -S Server2 -U DomainX\userY Password: H:\>sqlcmd -S Server2 -U DomainX\userY Password: Msg 18456, Level 14, State 1, Server Server2, Line 1 Login failed for user 'DomainX\userY'. SQL Server 2005 Express Connectivity Issue

I have a virtual dedicated 2003 server (standard edition) on which I installed SQL Server Express 2005 in mixed mode.  After installing the server I added the 2010 Web Developer package.  I updated the remote connections to allow TCP/IP and named pipes.  I also ensured that the TCP/IP protocol was enabled under the protocols tab.  After restarting the SQLEXPRESS service and attempting to configure a SqlDataConnection in Web Developer I got the ubiquitous error,

"A network-related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to SQL Server.  The server was not found or was not accessible.  Verify the instance name is correct and that the SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.  (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)".

When I try using a trusted connection with sqlcmd I got this error,

"HResult 0x2, Level 16, State 1
Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [2].
Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Native Client : An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not  allow remote connections..

Sql server 2008 R2 x64 / SSMS : Intermittent Connectivity Issue

I have read almost everything on this topic, applied each proposed solution, checked all conf settings but I am stil stuck with these frequent but intermittent connectivity issues.

I moved our databases from a win 2003 + SQL Server 2005 x86 enterprise (where I had no connectivity issue) to a clean install of SQL server 2008 R2 x64 enterprise on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64. Enabled tcp/ip & named pipes, recreated the users (& fixed orphans), opened ports on firewalls client, hardware, even Win Server although it is disabled, applied the UC4 patches, tried various connection strings, created aliases (for x64 and x32), ran the different recommended tools (portQryV2...) to no avail.

Most of the time, I can connect, with SSMS or via code with SqlConnection and execute queries. But frequently, I either lose the connection or cannot connect on the first call. Then it works on subsequent calls. In vb, the  code hangs on the call of the open method of the SqlConnection (and yes I properly close my connections once the queries have been executed). Setting the CommandTimeout has no effect. The code/SSMS freezes for 30/40 seconds.

No error is showing up in the Profiler, Nothing in the SQL Server Logs. The client and the server are on different networks. I connect via TCP/IP(remot

connectivity issue with local instance of sql server

hi everbody,

well for the last couple of days i have almost taken my head out to get this issue resolved.

but still i am no where. i have already referred to so many tips available online but still can't fix the prob.

i am trying to connect a C# ( .net 2005) program to connect to the  integrated sql server 2005 instance on my local computer.

i have got windows 7 home basic on my pc with .net frame work 2.0 sp2 and have also upgraded to sql server 2005 sp3 as per some online study.

i have also tried all these steps but still getting the error 40.

1. Check Whether the SQL Server is running or not.
Because the trial to connect to the stopped server may also cause this problem.

2. Check the name of the SQl Server.
For example, if we try to connect to SQL server using .NET application, for some SQL Server, the name of the server "localhost" works, but for some server, we may need to mention "(local)".

3. Check Whether the SQL Browser Service is running

4. Check Whether the TCP/IP is enabled for SQL Server Configuration

* Expand SQL Server Configuration Manager
* Enable TCP/IP

5. Firewall Settings

You may need to add the port of Sql server to the Firewall if it is other than the default port(1433).

Office Web Apps Powerpoint Network Connectivity issue

Hi,

After installing and deploying office web apps on an existing sharepoint 2010 farm, I'm facing an issue with PowerPoint web App.

Namely when I try yo open a presentation in browser, after maybe 30sec I get the following message :  "Network connectivity has been lost. Check your network connection or try again later.". I looked into the SharePoint logs and I found multiple iterations of the following record :

Windows=False, Ntlm=True, Digest=False, Basic=False, Anonymous=False 85c0870e-4a45-4266-96be-c28495c122a7
04/08/2011 18:08:38.09  w3wp.exe (0x3720)                        0x0DA4 Office Web Apps                PowerPoint Web Services        d34t Medium   Checking parent web supported authentication of instance:192398217 Endpoint:http://***/_vti_bin/ppt/view.svc/jsonNegotiate 85c0870e-4a45-4266-96be-c28495c122a7

More interesting I found the following entry Windows Application Log:

ODBC connection issue to SQL 2000 SP4. [TCP/IP Sockets]Specified SQL server not found

Server: Stand alone Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 Edition Service Pack 2

The server has 4 quad-core processors with 32Gb RAM

SQL: 2 instances of SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition SP4 with cumulative update version: 8.00.2040

I am trying to connect to the named instance of SQL Server with an ODBC connection. I am a local admin on the server and a sysadmin on both the default instance and the named instance. I get the error message

Connection failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 11004
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionOpen (Connect()).
Connection failed:
SQLState: '08001'
SQL Server Error: 6
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]Specified SQL server not found.

My users are trying to connect via SQL login and are also receiving the same error message.

The default instance is listening on port 1433. The named instance is listening on port 1464. There is no Windows firewall installed on the server.

The annoying thing is that if I click on the button called "Client Configuration" when using the "ODBC Data Source Administrator" dialogue wizard, and I un-tick the radio box called "Dynamically determine port", and hardcode the port 1464 into the dialogue box, everything works as it should do.

IsapiModule Error 500 Issue

I am about exhausted trying to figure out this error:

HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error

Description: The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred.

Error Code: 0x8007007b

Notification: ExecuteRequestHandler

Module: IsapiModule

Requested URL: http://localhost:80/ReportServer

Physical Path: c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\Reporting Services\ReportServer

When I enable Failed Request Tracing Rules and view the log output I am supposing that the actual problem is in the 2nd call where there are 2 backslashes before the actual filename in the specified path:

ISAPI_START

CALL_ISAPI_EXTENSION DllName="C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\\aspnet_isapi.dll"

MVC2 issue - Stuck. Trying to create a cms with nested partials

I am currently trying to display multiple items on a single page. I am not sure as to how to tackle this. What I have is a database table that has all the page data in. I have this run as a PagesController and this works fine. However what I would like to do is, if say the Products page is selected via the menu, I want to pull back not only the Products page html but also get all the products, and even be able to pull them through via category. I was trying to use a partial view, but I can't get it to work. The same would be for other pages, having partial views to display the other content, ie if Gallery is selected, the page html for Gallery shows and it then can push to a partial view that pulls all the gallery images from the gallery db table and so on.

Maybe I am tackling this the wrong way. I have the pages stored in the db to allow for a CMS system I have setup. Maybe I need to use models for all the other items(Products, Gallery, Videos and such) and use the partial for the page html?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am confused.

User validation Issue in xlsx file

Hi,

I am validating user from Login.xlsx file. It was working fine by validating email and password from that file. For testing i got new file same contents of file but added some more user names.

So after that when i validating the user i am getting the following error "Data type mismatch in criteria expression".

But when i replaced the new to old one it is working fine. The contens of both files are the same. So why this kind of error happened.

Multiple Paramatized Threading issue

I need the funcitonality to have two methods run concurrently of each other and the parent thread (aka the method that makes these two calls) to halt until BOTH are done. After the threads are done, I need to perform logic on the returns of the method, so it is essential for both of them to be complete before the parent thread continues. I have searched the internet and tried varous attacks, and I always come up with the same result, this being the parent thread continues operation after the first thread finishes, leaving the second thread running.  Can someone show me a quick example of how I can do this. I have tried checking states of the threads, halting the threads, but I always end up with the same thing. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Data Truncation issue with Enterprise Library Logging WriteLog stored Proc

Hi ,

I'm using Enterprise Library Logging  feature for logging. The issue i am facing is when the Logging message is too large(more than 65534 chars) ,complete data  is not logged in the Formatted Mesage column which is  of data Type nText .

I am able insert complete data if i try inserting from Sql insert Query from sql management studio. Do i need to add any attributes to data base listener or do i need to change the sp.

Is there any way to increase the WriteLog stored proc param size in EnterpriseLibrary.Logging config file ? . Please let me know.

Word Automation Issue in Windows Server 2008 Hosting

Hi,

The problem I am posting here is that I was facing nearly 2 weeks around. Any body comes with this stuff please help.

Word Automation in sample ASP.NET(C#) application.

I am using Microsoft.Office.Inetrop.Word Assembly for automation. Here I am reading a XXX.dot template file and fill the contents with dynamic data.

When i am executing my code in localhost:someportnumber the automation is working fine and I could get expected result and when I am hosting in my inetmgr(Windows XP is my OS) it is also working fine.

But the problem is that when I am hosting in my production server(Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition) I am not able to perform automation and results in the following error.

Data: System.Collections.ListDictionaryInternal
Message: Word has encountered a problem.
Source: Microsoft Word

The code gets failed in the following line:

ApplicationClass wordApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.ApplicationClass();

Document wordDoc = wordApp.Documents.Add(ref oTemplate, ref oFalse, ref oMissing, ref oMissing); // Error in this line

I cannot able to proceed further. Can anybody please help me in solving this issue?

Thank you.

With Regards,

Ashok

If Statement Issue

Hi,

This is very strange to me. I have spent 2hrs looking into this inside out , but dont seem to get it

I have an if statement that inserts data into the database. But i check to make sure the name is not entered twice. Now when the name is already in the db, then it should insert else put out a message saying its already in the db

My code works fine except that  when its not in the db, its inserts but still puts out the message that says "Name is already in use" Not sure if am not seeing something. But thought i did bring it to the forum. Here is my code...Pretty simple

Protected Sub btnAdd_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnAdd.Click

        Dim objConnection As SqlConnection
        Dim objCommand As SqlCommand
        Dim strSQLQuery1 As String

' If there's nothing to Add for then don't search
' o/w build our SQL Query and execute it.
        If String.IsNullOrEmpty(txtAdd.Text) Or Leadbank.SelectedValue = "000" Then
