Backup & share database tables

Ηι, What is the best solution for back up and sharing specific sql compact database tables to a central remote site. Hundreds of users will run an application using the same database structure, but each one will have his own data.  We need  each user to be able to synchronize his data to a central remote server, and to share them only with other users that he chooses by their ID code. Please suggest ways and technologies to implement the above.   Regards, Thank you, Viron.

Sharepoint site collections

More Detail

We had a 3rd party into to develop the share-point service, This is really a very difficult situation not the solution but the documents that are stored and the way it was retrieved.

The real thing is that we receive an item it is booked into SAP and then we send an automated xml to set up a local site this site will then have details from the SAP system fed by ABAP. After the site is created, and then we add documents files and .jpg. These documents must show a detailed audit trail so that if challenged in a court of law can show who had access and who updated documents.

SO the problem is

1 Site Collection that is 170gig and the design means that we have 1600 sites and these contain images that are stored in the single site collection. How do we remove the full documents and images and replace with links rather than the doc, img.

Cannot access database remotely

I'm working on a project.  It is a .net project using asp and c# in visual studio 2008 enterprise.  I have sql server 2008 enterprise as my database.  It is working perfect locally.  However when I put the database and the web app on the server, I get the following error:

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

store remotely posted data to database

I am writing an application in which a remote url web site ( says url1 that is sender) sends xml data to another web site (says url2 that is receiver) by using .NET WebRequest. On the receiver url2 if I use .NET Page.Response and .NET Page.Request to store posted/received xml data into an external text file, then the data is stored. However, if I store the received data into database, I do not see the data is stored into the database.

Please help me to trouble shoot the codes so I can store such remotely posted data into database on the receiver side url2. Thank you.

I host both url1 site and url2 site in my computer using IIS like http://localhost/url1/sender.aspx  and http://localhost/url2/receiver.aspx

1/ Receiver page's codes that store remotely posted xml data into database do not work:

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
            Page.Response.ContentType = "text/xml";

Multiple database support with Entity Framework

One of the features introduced in Entity Framework is being database independent. Which mean each database provider can support Entity Framework by implementing its provider.

This feature allows you build applications independent from the underplaying database provider. In this post I'm going to show how to build an application that support multiple databases using same conceptual model made by Entity Framework.

Export Visio Database Table Names to Excel

If you use the Enterprise Architect edition of Microsoft Visio for data modeling regularly, then there is a good chance that at some point you've wanted to export just the table names into Excel. You might want to do this to map logical ERD entities to physical data model tables, track project status by entity, or track overlap between database versions.

Linq: how to share parameters between lambda expressions ?

When using Linq to objects, you will quickly feel the need to pass some parameters from a method to another but it's not so easy because each Linq method is not calling the following one. In a Linq sequence, each method is using the result computed by the previous one. So, local contexts are not visible from one method to another.
The compiler is using two technical different ways to let parameters go out of a method.

MS SQL Server: Disconnect Users From Database - Kill User Session

If you ever wanted to restore your database from a SQL backup file (.bak), but there are still users connected to your database, the backup operation will fail causing the error: Exclusive access could not be obtained because the database is in use.

SQL Server Database Transaction

A transaction is a group of SQL commands executed together as a single component of work to be accomplished. If all of these commands succeed, then a transaction is committed - the changes to the data are made final. If any of the commands within a transaction fail, then the entire transaction is cancelled, or in SQL Server terms, the transaction will be rolled back.

Transactions are one of the things that keep your data safe, but they're not necessarily easy to understand. Here's some help:
