SQL Server doesn't exist or access denied while connecting with Access 2010 ODBC

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Hello all. I am using Access 2010 and SQL Server 2008 (locally). I can easily connect to server using SSMS and it works excellent. But when I want to import a table to Access 2010 using ODBC, it says that "SQL Server doesn't exist or access denied". It worked previously - almost 3 days ago, but now, it doesn't! Please help! Thanks Mohammad Javahery

"[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied error for a sched

Hi Guys, The subject of this question is the error which I am receiving when running a scheduled job also this is an error which we get at a random intervals and the frequency would be once or twice in a month. I have been through several posts and didn't concluded anything out of it. At the time when we receive this error the memory usage of the database was normal with free resources available and also the network was stable without issues. Our Sql database is in cluster mode with named instance. Can anyone share some information on this, I know this is not the right forum with the error message I have posted but am sure some one might have face the same problem when running some ETL jobs. Source and target both are sql server and the error message is generated in the validation phase of the connection manager connecting to target database. SSIS 2005 SP2 64 bit environmentRaju

Search Server Express 2010 - Access Denied when attempting to manage Search Service Application or P

I first noticed this error with the Search Service Application when I was no longer able to use the search portal, but have since noticed the issue with the PowerPoint Service Application.  When I navigate in Central Administration to either the "Farm Search Administration" or the "Manage service applications" pages and attempt to manage the "Search Service Application", I get this error: Error: Access Denied  Current User You are currently signed in as:  WHEELERS\MyUserName   Sign in as a different user    I have tried removing the service application and re-adding it, changing the application pool to running under an existing application pool as the farm administrator, as another application pool with the same identity as the primary web application, and as another application pool running under the SP-SearchService identity. The big recent change with SharePoint, aside from fixing the previous issue where I was incorrectly using CNAMEs with Kerberos, was to switch the main web application to claims authentication. That site correctly works with claims based authentication and Kerberos.

ConnectionOpen (Connect()).SQL Server does not exist or access denied

I get the follwowing exception while running my ASP.NET 1.1 web application.  The Web application will call a web service which connects to to the DB server and returns the data to the application. This error occurs when we move the webservices and databases to new servers.

I am able to connect to the DB server from web servers through SQL port.

System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.System.Data.IDbCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.FillFromCommand(Object data, Int32 startRecord, Int32 maxRecords, String srcTable, IDbCommand command, CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.Fill(DataSet dataSet, Int32 startRecord, Int32 maxRecords, String srcTable, IDbCommand command, CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.Fill(DataSet dataSet, String srcTable)

Why does this error occur and how to solve this?

Errors: 53 and 17 SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

Have a SQL connection issue on a Windows Server 2008 R2 client.  Cannot connect to sql server using sql login or domain login.  Pings sql server and can access file share on sql server just fine.  Both sql login methods work fine from other machines.

I've seen a number of generic kb articles that describe various client related issues that don't apply (incorrect computer name, named instance etc).  Like I said I can connect to this sql server from other Windows Server 2008 machines just fine.     I was looking for the client Network utility, but apparently that's a legacy application that isn't a part of Server 2008 (if it is I can't find it).

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

2008 server Access database connecting win7 workstation with ODBC link works extremely slowly

I have an Access database on a 2008 server (64 bit), and notebooks with 32 bit win7. The program using the mdb is written in delphy, and running on my notebook, and working on data extremely slow. What can be the problem?

The database connector is an ODBC linked network drive.

On that same configured PC with XP it works normally.

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. (-2147467259)

I did a SQL 2000 migration from SQL 2000 SP3 to SQL 2000 SP4 on a different hardware.

I have moved the database to a second instance which is listening on port 1435 and I able to telnet 1435 from the

the web and app boxes and also the connection string seems to be fine with the user credentials.

Data source = 'servername\instancename,1435'

But still I am getting the error below when clicking on the url

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. (-2147467259)

can someone please advise what could be the issue as I have checked the FW and it looks fine.

Thanks in advance,

Linked server to access 2010

I keep getting an error when setting up a linked server in sql 2008 R2 x64 to a microsoft access database file (mdb or accdb file).  (The problem occurs on computers with either the 32-bit or 64-bit version of ms office installed).  What are the proper connection string settings?  (This is after right clicking linked servers in ssms and selecting "add new linked server")  The below settings don't work: Provider (from dropdown): Microsoft Office 12.0 Access Database ENgine OLE DB Provider Product name: Access Data source: C:\foopath\foo.mdb  --also doesn't work for foo.accdb Provider string: Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. Remote access to SQL-Server 2008 R2 on Windows Server 2008 denied

Hello, after successful installation of SQLServer 2008 R2 and providing my account as a 'sysadmin' I failed to access the server from a management studio of a SQL-Server 2005 release installation. The TCP/IP access is enabled and the server is configured to allow access from remote connections.  The error message reads a follows: ' A network-related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify ... (Provider: Named Pipes Provider, error 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)(Microsoft SQL Server, Error:2)' Accessing the SQL-Server by the management studio from the local host works fine but trying to acces by command line using the '-E' parameter fails. Is there any additional configuration on the operation system level needed to open a SQL-Server 2008 instance to be selected by other members of  domain groups from the non-local host? Thank you for the answer

Problem connecting to SQL Server 2008 R2 Express from Access 2007

I have a problem with SQL Server 2008 R2 Express with MS Access 2007. I am running Windows 7 with 8 gigs memory. I installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Express. Do I now need to install SP1 because I am running with Windows 7? I can open SQL Server using the Management Screen but I cannot connect to MS Access 2007 using SQL Server Express as the database. When trying to connect to SQL Server from Access 2007, I keep getting the message that SQL Server 2005 cannot be found. It will not allow me to sign onto sql server 2008 stating that it cannot be found. Do I have to now run the SQL Server 2008 R2 Express SP1? Is there an upgrade to MS Access 2007 which will allow me to use SQL Server 2008 R2 Express?

Importing Access 2010 tables to SQL Server 2008 R2

I'm trying to import a series of Access 2010 tables to Sql Server 2008 R2.  The Access import drivers are for *.mdb (which if I recall was the file extension for Access when I was a kid, and don't recognize the .accdb file extention).  Similarly, the Excel driver is for Excel 2003.  Isn't there a driver and method to import directly to SQL 2008 from Access 2010? SQL is installed on my server, but Access is not installed on the server.  When I copy the file onto the server and try and open it directly into SQL, I get a 'no editor installed' error. I can't get the 'upsize' wizard to work becuase it won't open the connection to SQL, even though I enter the userid and password of the SQL DB owner.  I get the following error: ===================================================== Connection failed: ============================================================= I have to say I'm stumped.  The rest of the Office 2010 suite works really well together - perhaps I'm missing something very simple? Thanks!     I guess I could export my tables as Excel 2003 and then import them using Integration Services, or install SQL Express on my laptop and 'upsize' to that instance, but SQL State: ‘0100’ SQL Server Error: 11004 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Dirver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionOpen (Connect()). Sharepoint 2010 Multi-Tenancy Access Denied on Tenant Administration Site

Hi, I am currently implementing a Sharepoint 2010 Multi-Tenancy solution. Multi-tenancy is the partitioning of service applications in 2010 to allow data to be separated between web applications or site collections. I am using multi-tenancy to separate data and user profiles between site collections hosted on a single web application. I have partitioned the User Profile Service Application and Proxy using Windows Powershell. The paritioned Proxy Application is then associated with the single web application. I am also using the Sharepoint Foundation Subscription Service Application to subscribe to different site collections within the web application. In this way data and user profiles can be separated. However, the tenant administration site, used to manage each collection, does not allow administrator access to manage the User Profile Service. I receive a standard Sharepoint 'Access Denied' error message. No other errors or details are provided. I have tried assigning different accounts to the tenant administration site but the error still appears. The issue arises when I issue the following SPSite Powershell cmdlet: NEW-SPSite -Owneralias DOMAIN\Username -Secondaryowneralias DOMAIN\Username. The attributes provided in the Cmdlet above are used to assign tenant site administrators however, the accounts cannot access the User Profile Service. Any ideas or recommendati

Access Denied/The workflow could not copy the item workflow error after Sharepoint 2010 upgrade

We have a sharepoint designer workflow that copies a document from one library to another on the same site.  Before the upgrade to 2007 it worked fine, but now with 2010 it gives an error and cancels the workflow when it gets to the copy list item step.   The error on the workflow page: The workflow could not copy the item. Make sure the source and destination lists have the same columns and column settings.  Access Denied   Specifically it is the "copy list item current item to documentlibrary" sharepoint designer workflow action.   I have given the system account full permissions to the library and double checked that all columns are the same in both libraries.
