Outlook Reminders/Notifications related to Documents uploaded in Sharepoint.

Dear all.. I'm looking for a solution to achieve the following.. We're preparing a solution for a law firm. They're using Sharepoint server 2010 as document management system. The thing is that for example they upload a recently scanned document to sharepoint, and maybe they have to take it to the judge in 14 days.. So the user would like to have some easy way to set a reminder, so he gets in his local Outlook a reminder in 14 days with a link to the document. Also it would be nice to be able to set a reminder for a Document library, as the customer opens a new Document library for each case, and sometimes they want reminder for a single document, and sometimes for the whole case (Document library) Any easy way to have this functionality?? Thanks..  Regards..

Event Reciever updates status bar and notifications

I have a event listener running on a list, with several possible conditions.  I want to use the status bar to update the user as a case happens.  I thought, that since the code is a event reciever/listener, that this would be considered server side code, and to make something appear on the status bar, I can use the SPPageStatusSetter.AddStatus method to show the message.  Yet, when I put in the method parameters, nothign  happens. (I did a statusbar= new SPpageStatusSetter(), statusbar.AddStatus("caller", "messgae", Yellow)) What am I missing?  Is this not considered server-side code, and I should use the other mechanism to set the status bar?  or? thanks rsRocky Sanders

SqlCacheDependency, SQL Notifications, and Cache Expiration

I've spent the last few days trying to get caching working with my C# ASP.NET web application and SQL Sever 2005.  I'd like to take advantage of row-level caching by using a SqlCacheDependency on the SQL command used to fetch the row of data.  However, I can't seem to get it to work.From a high level I can retreive my data fine, get it into the cache, and then retrieve it just fine.  However, when the data is modified in the database, the cached object does not expire.  The best I can tell is that there are no SQL Notification subscriptions that are set up.  It appears that the broker service is set up on the database and I can see a SqlQueryNotificationService in the Queue and Services.  There don't seem to be any errors in the SQL log that I can find either.To set everything up on my database I did the following:Made sure that ENABLE_BROKER was set on the database (select is_broker_enabled from sys.databases where name = '<dbname>' returns 1)Set privaleges for my database user properly with:GRANT CREATE PROCEDURE TO <dbuser>GRANT CREATE QUEUE TO <dbuser>GRANT CREATE SERVICE TO <dbuser>GRANT SUBSCRIBE QUERY NOTIFICATIONS TO <dbuser>We typically use a data access layer for accessing our data, however, I wanted to test a stupid simple example of caching when I found I couldn't get it to work.

Hi,

The options which I got are SqlNotificationRequest, SqlDependency, Triggers (http://rusanu.com/2006/06/17/the-mysterious-notification/) but again accroding to this post - http://www.sqlskills.com/BLOGS/BOBB/category/Query-Notifications.aspx - same queue cannot have more than one subscriber.

So guys, please help me out.

Email notifications from Approval workflow

I currently have an issue with an out-of-the-box workflow; in essence it relate to the workflow author/originator NOT receiving an update once an approval or rejection has been committed.

A task list has been set up to receive *status* updates everytime an workflow action is committed whether that be initiation/approval/rejection/completion.  Everything appears to work APART from completion and the issue of an email notification to the workflow owner.

I have checked the logs on the Sharepoint box itself and appear to be fine.

I have checked the logs on the Outbound SMTP server and everything is OK upto to the point of completion.

I need some advice on what else I can do/check to verify IF the email notifications are being created by SharePoint; what in the logs within Sharepoint I can further check (diagnostic is not set to verbose - ALL) and what ELSE can be checked on IIS/Outbound SMTP server...

Any advice would be much appreciated...

Windows Media Player control drops out of fullscreen on Windows notifications

Hi,

My app uses the Windows Media Player control to display video in fullscreen. It's vital that it remain fullscreen until the user has specifically exited it (using the escape key). However, WMP control exits full screen seemingly on any notification coming up on Windows 7. Windows update notices, anti-virus update alerts, etc.

Is there anyway to force WMP control to stay fullscreen, or force suppression of ALL notification messages?

Active Directory Subtree LDAP_SCOPE_SUBTREE Delete Notifications

Hi,

I have an application which communicates with various LDAP data sources. I
am facing a problem with Microsoft Active Directory Server Application Mode
ADAM when I perform delete operation. I register for notifications using
LDAP_SCOPE_SUBTREE constant.
The server gives me Insert/Update notifications correctly for a child OU of
a given Base DN. But the server does not throw any notification for Delete
operation. I register for subtree notifications of
OU=MUser,O=Microsoft,C=US

And delete an object from a child OU
OU=MUser,O=Microsoft,C=US,OU=SUser
