Hello, I'm having some problem with SQL Server 2008...

I tried to uninstall SQL Server 2008 to fully reinstall it... but now when I try to Install it again the following shows up:

Install SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise on Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit problem.

I am installing SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition 64bit to Windows Server 2008 R2 standard (64bit) on VMware Virtual Machine.

The OS version is 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601. Processor value shows "Interl(R) Xeon(R) CPU.

On the "Installation Rules" page, it shows the status of "64-bit processor" and "64-bit operating system" are  is "Not applicable". Click the link to see details, it shows "... rule is not applicable based on your system configuration or selections.".

I have checked the forums, and see someone asked the same question but the answer was to ignore it. The installation was completed, but I can see both 32bit and 64bit folders (\Program Files (x86) and \Program Files) have files installed on "Microsoft SQL Server". So, I don't know it is exatly 64bit or mixed with 32bit and 64bit.

Is there anything wrong on my server's setting?

Problem opening dotnet 1.1 projet on 2008 web server

We recently upgraded to a 2008 development web server and I installed all the stuff to get dot net 1.1 app working on the server.  I can host them and they work.  My problem is that when I try to open one in VS 2003 I get the following error.  I set up the web server the same as my previous one, and I think a long time  ago I got this error when we set up current one but do not remember how to resolve it.  So I moved my project files from the old server to the new server and then I get these errors.

The web Server reported the following error when attempting to create or open the Web Project located at the following url: Http://localhost:/MobTracker. 'Http/1.1 500 server error

Problem adding .NET 3.5.1 feature on Server 2008 R2

Having an issue with a 2008 R2 64-bit Server becoming unresponsive/locking up when trying to activate the .NET 3.5.1 feature.  Did not have any previous version of .NET installed but ran the .NET Cleanup utility and completed successfully but still have same issue.  It installed .NET 4 via the Microsoft Updates OK but still hangs part way through the 3.5.1 install via the Server Manager/Add Features.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

SQL Server 2008 R2 fails after Windows XP Pro SP3 install

We recently encountered an issue with SQL Server 2008 R2 failing to run after the upgrade from Windows XP Pro SP2 to SP3. This was tested and reproduced (with varying results) on more than one computer. Steps to reproduce this. On a Windows XP Pro machine with Service Pack 2 installed, install SQL Server 2008 R2. Next upgrade Windows to Service Pack 3. Now upon opening SSMS or trying to start the SQL server service you receive the following message: "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem". In some instances reinstalling/repairing SQL Server 2008 R2 does fix the issue.  In other cases the installer crashes and you need to use msizap to clean it up before you can reinstall.  In other cases you do not receive any errors at all. After testing in multiple virtual machines it looks like the cleaner the Windows install the more likely you are to run into this issue.  On machines with most or all windows updates (prior to SP3) installed you do not necessarily even get the failure.  On machines with just Windows XP Pro SP2 installed with no additional updates you get the failure every time. Obviously the SQL Server 2008 R2 prerequisites are installed in all cases in order to be able to install SQL server to begin with. Any help with this would be appre

SQL Server 2008 Install failure - Reporting Services Rule Failures

I'm installing SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7.  I'm going through the install and on the "Installation Rules" page I have two failures: Reporting Services Catalog Database File Existance Reporting Services Catalog Temporary Database File Existance Clicking on each of the failures they both say that each file exists "Select a reporting services file-only mode installation" Clicking the "Help" button tells me to "Rename, move, or delete the files" This is the only information I can find on this exact failure.  I'm not technical enough to know exactly where these files are or what they are named.  I cannot proceed any further without correcting this issue.  I'll include some of the shorter summary log files.  I can include other detail log files if that would help. Thank you so much for any help. Problem connecting to SQL Server 2008 R2 Express from Access 2007

I have a problem with SQL Server 2008 R2 Express with MS Access 2007. I am running Windows 7 with 8 gigs memory. I installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Express. Do I now need to install SP1 because I am running with Windows 7? I can open SQL Server using the Management Screen but I cannot connect to MS Access 2007 using SQL Server Express as the database. When trying to connect to SQL Server from Access 2007, I keep getting the message that SQL Server 2005 cannot be found. It will not allow me to sign onto sql server 2008 stating that it cannot be found. Do I have to now run the SQL Server 2008 R2 Express SP1? Is there an upgrade to MS Access 2007 which will allow me to use SQL Server 2008 R2 Express?

Unable to install SQL Server 2008 Express R2 after installing .NET 4.0

Hi experts, I intend to redistribute SQL Server 2008 Express R2 in my installer. I've extracted the setup files from SQLEXPR32_x86.exe and pass in the appropriate command line parameters during the setup. Recently, I noticed if I applied the following Windows Update: .NET 4.0 Client Profile, I will hit into the following error when I installed SQL express. .NET Runtime 4.0 Error Reporting EventType clr20r3, P1 setup100.exe, P2 10.50.1600.1, P3 4bb67524, P4 mscorlib, P5, P6 4ba1da6f, P7 44f0, P8 32, P9 system.security.security, P10 NIL. .NET Runtime Application: setup100.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Exception Info: System.Security.SecurityException Stack: at Microsoft.SqlServer.Chainer.Setup.Setup.DebugBreak() at Microsoft.SqlServer.Chainer.Setup.Setup.Main() Running the setup.exe from a file server will give these errors but if I copied the entire setup files to a local folder and run setup.exe from there, it runs fine. May I know what am I missing? I definitely need to support to install SQL express running from a file server location. Thanks, MK

Install SQL Server problem

Compatibility problem: an "sql server 2008 R2" db backup cannot be restored to an "sql server 2008"

To verify if the "2008 R2" version can be restored back to a "2008" dbserver I make an experiment:  construct a database on R2 version ( version : 10.50.xxx )  and backup it; then I try to restore the db backup to a "sql server 2008" db-server ( version : 10.0.xxx ) but get failed. Error message is as shown: The database was backed up on a server running version 10.50.1600. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 10.00.2531. Either restore the database on a server that supports the backup, or use a backup that is compatible with this server.   Originally I want to upgrade a "2008" server to "2008 r2" , but this problem withdraws me: if I do so , I am afraid all the existing clientuser's dbs cannot be backed up to themselves if they don't have "2008 r2" locally:   if a database is backed up under "2008 r2" environment whereas client user only has "2008" db server, does it mean he cannot restore it anymore?   So I wonder if there is an approach that helps me to create a "backward-compatible" database; when creating database on wizard there is an option to choose "compatibility level" but I don't think it meets my requirement..    Anyone can help me on this ??

named instance sql server 2008 install on cluster

I have a production two-node cluster with sql server 2008 sp1 cu7 running over windows server 2008 sp2. If I were to install a new named instance on this live environment, would it impair the default sql server instance functionality? I'm not referring to processor/io while the install is in progress. My question specifically is would the install process by its nature bring down the default instance. I'm pretty sure it won't, but don't see any documentation that would confirm this. thanks.

Sharepoint 2003 + Windows Terminal Server 2008 + Office 2007 problem?

Hi, We have a customer where some users runs Windows Terminal Server 2008 with Office 2007. They open documents from a Sharepoint 2003 site. When they open an excel sheet they get a button in the document which says "Server workbook: Click edit workbook to edit this workbook" and there is a button: "edit workbook" The users clicks "edit workbook" but get an error message saying there is no connection to the server.  They are able to edit the document, but not save it back to the sharepoint site. Most other users work on their local computer with Office 2003. Here, everything works fine and there are no button/message stating its a server workbook.   Is this caused due to some compatability issues between Sharepoint 2003 and Office 2007?   Best regards, Thomas Hansen ErgoGroup AS

SQL Server 2008 Express impossible to install.

As part of ARCserve backup r15, SQL Server 2008 Express is to be installed on a windows 2003 sp2 server (french language). All the prerequistes are present (power shell, .NET 3.5, Windows Installer 4.5...). The install fails with an -2147024893 error. I have not found anything conclusive about this error on the net. To get down on the issue I tried to install sql 2008 Express SP1 manually first. It fails with no error, returning to the main installation screen after installing the support files. The SQLSetup.log shows no apparent error but stop abruptly with the following : "Attempting to launch process d:\23ab1738a0f035434457b033\x86\setup100.exe"... as if this attempt was "suspended in the air". I have already tried to uninstall/install .NET 3.5 SP1, PowerShell, Windows Installer 4.5. No previous version of SQL had never been existed on this server. I even run "caspol.exe /machine -reset". I have tried the installation with SQL 2008 Express in english... I made registry cleanups... It's been one week of investigation and for the first time in my career I'm "dry". Is my case desperate ? Thanks   ******************* I enclosed the summary.txt when it's ARCServe r15 which is installing. I notice that "requested action" is "RemoveNode". I suppose it's related to any cluster. But we have not any cluster on the
