Weird security configuration error message

Recently something has gone wrong with our website so that whenever you try to access an aspx file, it shows the following error:

Error with ASP.NET Configuration Tool

I'm trying to make an MVC 2 site, and I've run into a bit of a snag.  I want to add user roles to my system via the configuration tool, but every time I click the Security tab I get the following error:

"There is a problem with your selected data store. This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission. It can also be caused by the role manager feature not being enabled. Click the button below to be redirected to a page where you can choose a new data store.

The following message may help in diagnosing the problem: Could not load type 'HandiGamer.MvcApplication'."

When I click on the 'Choose Data Store' button, it tells me I'm already using AspNetSqlProvider.

I have a .mdf file for the rest of the site's db, but didn't make any tables for membership as I thought all of that would be handled by the configuration tool.

Am I missing a step?

Hello Guys,         I am getting following exception while web service (ASMX) is returning the response. <!-- [if gte mso 10]> <mce:style> System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.     <!-- [if gte mso 10]> <mce:style>                                                     InnterException (System.IO.Exception): "Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."       I think either the Asp.net web server is closing the connection or the response is too long.   Following is my simple code.    1)   namespace JFA.IndiePay.BusinessAccess { public class VerTexProcessor { public DataSet ProcessVerTexForBatch(DataSet dsInputRequest) { DataSet dsResponse = new DataSet(); //Call vertex web service here. System error 67 has occurred.

Hello, I found lots of articles about problem connecting to SharePoint using UNC and I am still unable to solve my problem. I want to connect through the command prompt (map a drive) to a SharePoint library. I am successful if I am connecting to the portal site, but not a site collection with a different management path. I have Sharepoint admin rights and security should not be the issue. This doesn’t work: net use * http://<url>.com/<dep>/sites/<sitename>/Documents System error 67 has occurred. The network name cannot be found.   this works: net use * http://<url>.com/Documents The command completed successfully.   I have another farm that is setup the same (as much as I know) and net use * http://<url>.com/<dep>/sites/<sitename>/Documents works. Any suggestion? Thanks

Placing ..... configuration information in a config file other than app.config

Hi, I'm sorry if this question has been asked/answered before on this forum. I have searched both here and on the web in general, but to no avail as yet... I am running VS2010 and .Net 4, so in theory have all the latest versions of everything at my disposal. I have an executable a.exe. This downcalls into a dll b.dll. b.dll wants to send an MSMQ message using WCF. For cleanness (a.exe is a generic service and knows nothing about WCF) I want to define the client endpoint in b.dll.config. However I am finding that WCF is insisting that the information is held in a.exe.config. The exact problem is that when I create my proxy (i.e. the class which derives from ClientBase<T>), I get the message Could not find endpoint element with name 'XXX' and contract 'YYY' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this name could be found in the client element. From what I have seen I have just described an extremely common problem that people have had with WCF over the years. My questions is basically to find out, given that I have WCF 4 at my disposal, whether there is now a standard approach to this scenario? Things I have tried so far: The obvious one...putting all my config info in a.exe.config. When I do this, everything works file, so I

I have a windows service that runs on client machines and connects to a WCF service on a server.  This windows service seems to work fine on Windows XP, Vista and 7  machines, but when I try and run it on a Server 2008 R2 machine I get the following error: System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: An error occurred creating the configuration section handler for system.serviceModel/bindings: Could not load type 'System.Security.Authentication.ExtendedProtection.Configuration.ExtendedProtectionPolicyElement' from assembly 'System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'. The only thing I have found online that is remotely similar is this MS hotfix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2262911 But when I try and apply it, it says that it isn't for my computer. Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this issue?

Creating assembly throwing an error as system.directoryservices assembly is not in the SQL Server

Hi, I am trying to create an assembly (DLL file that created by C# ) which uses System.DirectoryServices assembly. When I try with following script Create ASSEMBLY Addresstype From 'C:\ActiDirectoryFunctions\ActiveDirectoryFunctions.dll' I am getting following Error Assembly 'ActiveDirectoryFunctions' references assembly 'system.directoryservices, version=2.0.0.0, culture=neutral, publickeytoken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a.', which is not present in the current database. SQL Server attempted to locate and automatically load the referenced assembly from the same location where referring assembly came from, but that operation has failed (reason: 2(The system cannot find the file specified.)). Please load the referenced assembly into the current database and retry your request. From above error message, I learnt that System.DirectoryServices assembly is not in the SQL Server. I am using SQL SERVER 2005 SP2 and .Net Framework 3 is there in the machine How to manually add this assembly into this SQL Server Machine? Please let me know if you know Thank you, Raj Dreaming a world without any war in anywhere
