First bit of info I have to impart I am not a sql admin. Now on to my question. We recently upgraded from sql 2000 ro sql 2008 R2. In sql 2000 we had issues where a schema was added after a user with specific permissions was created to only allow specific
access to sql.
We use crystal reporting to write reports and the additional schema user now needed to be added infront of table names when reports were created where previously using Sa credentials this was not needed.
database.table versus database.(schema now created).table
All the crystal reports written before had to have their table refrences updated again if the report was updated at any point. This causes headaches for the crystal report writer.
Now in Sql 2008 we have created a user we want to give read only permission for reporting out of Crystal and Excel. but we have not assigned permisions yet because we are worried we will create a schema again and cause the Crystal issue.
So finnaly my question Under the user properties and user mapping
I want to go and give the following database role membership
to this user.
