Don't know if I am in the right forum, but will start here. I was directed here from the VB forums and am not sure what my problem is at this point.
I have an app developed in VB2008 express and it installs and runs correctly on 3 of my computers. I have now tried to distribute the program to a partners computers and have run into some problems. One computer is Toshiba laptop with windows 7 on it and
is new and the other computer is an old XP sp3 unit. Both come up with the same error message and will not access the databases or run normally. The error message is as follows:
Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data. SqlService Ce. Version=184.108.40.206. Culture=Neutral. Public Key Token=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
I checked for .net framework 3.5 etc. and the computers seem to be set up ok. The Windows 7 computer is a 64 bit system and the XP computer is a 32 bit system. There must be a file missing, but I haven't run into a problem on my personal units. I do have
VB2008 installed on all 3 of my sysems and maybe there is a file that needs to be distributed with the program in addition to the .exe file. It has me stumped! Not sure what file is missing or how to distribute it. Could the computers the program won't run
on be missing the Sql Server software and the program is looking for
