Custom Field Control 'not registered as safe'

Hi all,

my goal is to create a custom field control based on a custom field, to be part of a custom content type which derives from a publishing page. Also I want the custom field control to be part of a custom page layout which is associated with my custom content type.

I followed the steps from Patrick Tisseghems book 'Inside MOSS2007', which includes the following instructions:

  • Create and implement the following classes: CustomField, CustomFieldValue, CustomFieldControl. Sign them and deploy the assembly to the GAC.
  • Create a User Control Custom.ascx. Copy it to Controltemplates directory.
  • Create fldtypes_custom.xml and copy to 12\TEMPLATE\XML
  • Add <SafeControl /> entry to web.config

I did of all the above plus I created a page layout in SharePoint Designer which contains an instance of my CustomFieldControl.

When I create an instance of CustomPage (derived content type from Publishing Page, with extra field of type CustomField) with my custom page layout and add it to the Pages library of my Publishing site, everything seems to go fine. When i edit properties of the page with /Pages/Forms/EditForm.aspx I can even edit the custom field value trough the interface using mu custom field control! Everything seems to work perfectly!

But... this

Deployment bug: Class not registered

I deployed my web app from my development machine (WinXP Pro) to the production server (Windows 2003).  Everything works except for a COM library I am referencing from my business object.  The references in my solution are: Web Project --->  Business Layer Project (DLL)  ---> COM Library I suspect part of my problem is I didn't properly deploy, I just grabbed everything under \wwwroot\MyWebApp and copied it to the server.  I'm going to be researching proper deployment strategies, but in the meantime maybe someone could give me suggestions.  In my error log, the exception source is "Interop.AccpacCOMAPI", and the message is "Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG))" and the stack trace is as follows: at AccpacCOMAPI.AccpacSessionClass.Init(String ObjectHandle, String AppID, String ProgramName, String AppVersion) at WSTimesheets.AccPacWrapper.GetAccPacEmployeeList(Guid AppUserID) in C:\Documents and Settings\Joe\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Projects\WellServe\BusLogic\WSTimesheets\AccPacWrapper.cs:line 239 Here is a snippet of the code:1 // Open a session to AccPac 2 bool sessionOpened = false; 3 bool linkOpened = false; 4 AccpacCOMAPI.AccpacSession accpacSession = null; 5 AccpacCOMAPI.AccpacDBLink dbLinkRead = null; 6

Deactivate WPF commands globally (class registered)

Hello everyone, I need to deactivate the default WPF commands in a globally way, i'm talking about those that are registered as "class commands". Here's the reason : We are upgrading an old application to WPF, that application uses some key shortcuts that overlap with default wpf commands. I know that that should be a problem as commands attached to an instance have more "priority" than those that are attached to the "type" or "class". The problem is, we cannot attach the input binding (notacommand to disable the shortcut) to every instance. It will be, either overkill (modify all the styles) or almost impossible (controls instantiated by third party controls).   So, is there a way to disable wpf "class attached" commands in a globally way ? Thank you.

SQLCLI service not registered on the local machine error

Hi, With reference to the above title, I am trying to connect an SQL Server 2008 Express instance which came along with Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate from my C# app. My connection string is: Provider= SQLNCLI;Server=host\SQLEXPRESS;Database=database; When I try connecting with the above connection string, it says: SQLNCLI provider not registered on the local machine followed by my connection string. What am I supposed to do to solve this issue? Thank You in advance for your reply. Regards, Clifford

You may get this error when trying to browse an asp.net application. The debug information shows that "This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS." However, this error occurs primarily out of 2 scenarios. 1. When you create an new web application using visual studio.net, it automatically creates the virtual directory and configures it as an application. However, if you manually create the virtual directory and it is not configured as an application, then you will not be able to browse the application and may get the above error. The debug information you get as mentioned above, is applicable to this scenario. To resolve it, Right Click on the virtual directory - select properties and then click on "Create" next to the "Application" Label and the textbox. It will automatically create the "application" using the virtual directory's name. Now the application can be accessed. 2. When you have sub-directories in your application, you can have web.config file for the sub-directory. However, there are certain properties which cannot be set in the web.config of the sub-directory such as authentication, session state (you may see that the error message shows the line number where the authentication or sessionstate is declared in the web.config of the sub-directory). SSIS 2008 generates Class not registered

I am getting the following error in SQL Server 2008 R2 (build 10.50.1734) x86 platform BI Development Studio (BIDS) 9.0.30729.4462 with .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 in a Integration Services project Data Source View table when I attempt to Explore Data: Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)) This happens on a Windows 7 Professional workstation x86 platform, (but has not been observed on Windows XP). The error occurs on Data Source Views bound to a Data Source connected to a SQL Server 2005 SP3 (build 9.0.4053) and SQL Server 2008 R2 server (I'm sure it's not a server issue, but a workstation issue). I have successfully unregistered and re-registered DTS.DLL and DTSComm.DLL in the registry, with no resolution to the issue. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.Greg
