Hi there,

Our SQL2008r2 hang today with report about EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in Dump file. As far as I can see, the access violation was caused by normal SQL INSERT over OLEDB connect, which continuously occurs several times a minute.

There is a part of text dump file

What's wrong with MSDAORA.1 (Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle) in SQL2008R2

Dear Gurus, I'd install a test SQL2008R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Version. And Install Oracle both x86 and x64 version Client. And I'd create a new AS Database as AS System Administrator. And then create a new Datasource with "Microsoft OLE DB Prodiver for Oracle" Provider. When I test connection ,  it tested succeed. Then I create Datasource View / Dimension / Cubes etc... But when I process then Database. There is a error occurs. "Database Access Module Error , Provider 'MSDAORA.1' not register" I'd follow http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms152516.aspx change SQL Server 2008 R2's registry key as the note. Then restart this server . But still same error !   And I'd success process the cube if I change provider as "Oracle OLE DB Proverder"   Is MSDAORA been obsolete in SQL SERVER 2008 R2 ?Wilson

Hi, I have SQL Server 2008 R2 installed on Windows Server 2008 R2. The SQL Server is throwing the dumps on equal intervals. SQL2008R2 trail version setup problem need help

I am a student who has his first experence with SQL design and programing starting this week.  I am trying to install the trail version of MS SQL 2008R2 enterprise from the MS site.  I am using a laptop with Vista Ultimate on it.  It is an ACPI X86 machine with an Intel Core™2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHZ.  It has plenty of hard drive space and I am running 8GB of paired RAM.

The download was fine and I produced a disk for installation.  The config analysis show everything fine except I needed to reboot my laptop.  I have repeated rebooted my laptop, I have turned off programs that comeup as part of the startup.  However, ever time the setup is is stalled by the config analysis and requires a restart.  No error messages appear any place, only the note showing restart required.

I attempted to download to download the X86 executable and when excted in loaded SQL 2005.  That will not work for my class as the instructor may a point that there are changes that he will be covering and asking about specific to SQL2008R2.  So I uninstalled the 2005 version.&n

Error "Failed to load Msxmlsql.dll" on SQL2008Express and SQL2008R2 Developer

out of a sudden I get the following error message if I try to execute the "sp_xml_preparedocument" stored procedure.
Msg 6610, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_xml_preparedocument, Line 1
Failed to load Msxmlsql.dll

I found enough information about this problem on servers running SQL2005 on WinServer 2000 or 2003, but I run 2 servers MS SQL 2008 Express with Advanced Featuers (installed as a default instance) and MS SQL 2008 R2 Developer Edition on the same machine Windows 2008 SP2.

I am pretty sure that the problem appeared about 1 week ago, for I did not have any problems with XML on both servers until now.

The both server report the same problem. Their "Shared" folders both contain the file.

In one forum I found the information the new installation of SharePoint WSS can help, but I re-installed them twice with no effect.

Some ideas?

With best regards,

SQL2008R2 - Additional instance on SQL2005 Cluster

Hi everyone,

I currently do have a SQL2005SP2 2-Node Cluster which is used for BizTalk2006R2.
We now plan to install BizTalk 2010, and I want to continue to use the cluster hardware. As I won't be able to shutdown the BizTalk2006R2 any time
soon, I need to install an additional SQL2008R2 instance on the existing cluster for the time until all BizTalk migrations are done.

This is my current Cluster Configuration:
Cluster Group:
- Backup LAN
- Cluster IP
- Cluster Name
- Quorum drive

SQL2005 Group
- SQL Drive
- Enterprise SSO
- SQL IP Address
- SQL Networkname
- SQL Server
- SQL Agent
- SQL Fulltext Search

Would it now be possible to add a new Cluster Group, assign a disc, ip address and name to it and install SQL2008R2 into it?

Thanks in advance,

Error: Cannot determine security.config file path for SQL2008R2 development version on Vista home pr

The installation gets past the check for the windows installer and .net 3.5 but fails here finding the security.config path.  I've turned off the anti-virus, uninstalled and reinstalled .net 2.0 and 3.5.  I'm running as an administrator.  Nothing else that I've found addresses this specific error. The install start properly on an XP machine but not Vista.

What can I try next?

SQL2008R2 Clustered: how to apply hotfixes ?

SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM (version 10.5.1600.1) clustered two nodes. I would like to apply Cumulative Update package 4 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2345451). How should I proceed? Can I just run CU4 on each node?

Thanks for any help.

Restoring an encrypted database (TDE) in SQL2008R2 executes forever.

Good day all,

Well this problem first occurred for me when moving from SQL2008 to SQL2008R2. Now I have reinstalled my database machine again and am going from 2008R2 to 2008R2 - same version this time, but same problem.

I have restored my master key and certificate successfully, and the restore seems to complete according to the status output, but the query executes infinitely and the database even after server restart is inaccessible.

Here is the restore code and output:

Linked server fails -Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. with SQL2008R2

Hi, Kerberos seems to be malfunctioning with SQL2008R2.

I have a new dev SQL2008R2 server called BDSDEV2 and an upgraded(in-place) SQL2008R2 server BDSTEST2.

From BDSDEV2 , I can successfully issue a linked server query to BDSTEST2

select * from bdstest2.eis_prod.dbo.wcs_agent

But from my client in SSMS, connected to BDSDEV2  , the double hop is failing to BDSTEST2 for same query

Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.

I have another BDSDEV1 server, which is SQL2008 and there double hop IS WORKING

From my client in SSMS, connected to BDSDEV1  ,I can successfully issue the query to BDSTEST2 .

The service accounts  for MSSQLSERVER are both local admins on their servers and sa's

I have confirmed SPN is OK

This is from BDSDEV2 - sql2008r2 server.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Resource Kit>setspn -L tsqlssvc

replication between sql2005 and sql2008R2

Will replication work between sql2008R2(distributor and publisher) and sql2005(subscriber)?
