The sa account got locked out and even though mixed mode authentication is enabled. When I select "Windows Authentication" the Username and Password fields are greyed out. The username field contains my current windows logon and the password field is blank.
I am logged in with a windows administrator account though I hadnt explicitly added this account to the SQL server sysadmin role.
I have also tried "Run as Administrator" with the SQL server management studio but the problem persists
Please note that SQL server was installed with another windows administrator account. Could this be the reason ? Will it work if I login with the account with which SQL server was installed ?

I recently reset my Windows login password but from then onwards SQL Server 2008 is not allowing me to login in Windows authentication mode.

I have a user getting some problem with connecting to local SQL Server 2008 default instance using windows authentication with a user which has sysadmin role and is owner of each existing database:

Im trying to connect SQL server 2008 Express R2 installed on XP sp3 pc through ODBC SQL Server driver with a Windows 7 PC. I managed to define static IP ports and setup firewall. Now the ODBC connection successfully gets created by accepting uid : sa and
my password given.
Now Im getting "login failed for user ". " msg from my application. When I run the same application with same ODBC connection created in the SQL server PC it works fine. The two pcs operate in a workgroup.
Following is the error log. Im surprised to note that the server logs its in Mixed mode initially and later makes a cry that its in Windows Authentication mode. !!!!

No matter What I do, I can't seem to authenticate to SSRS using a local windows account unless that account is a member of administrators. Is there some sort of special role that local users
need to be a member of to authenticate properly?
When I attempt to access reporting services, am prompted with a login window asking for login as password. If is use a local admin account it works fine, if I use a local user account, it
prompts me again two times and then just shows a blank page.
Hi, I am trying to use TLS to connect to the Windows 2008 Server from windows XP, I set Authentication=False.
It throws the below authentication exception when connected to WIN 2008 Server with SP2, where as it used to work fine with WIN 2003:
System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host
Below is the sample code.
protected Stream stream;
IPEndPoint ipe = new IPEndPoint(addr, port);
Socket socket = new Socket(ipe.AddressFamily, SocketType.Stream, ProtocolType.Tcp);
socket .SetSocketOption(SocketOptionLevel.Socket, SocketOptionName.KeepAlive, options.keepAlive);
socket .LingerState = new LingerOption(options.lingerTime >= 0, options.lingerTime >= 0 ? options.lingerTime : 0);
socket .NoDelay = options.noDelay;
stream = new SslStream(stream, false, new RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(true), null);
I am using .Net 3.0 Frame work & VS 2005
Any help over here is highly appreciated.

I have a single node Windows Server 2008 R2 cluster configured with SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition installed as a clustered instance.
I am having an issue where the SQL Server service will only start using TCP/IP when the service account is a member of the local admins group. To get SQL to install I had to add the sql server service account to the local admins group.
I have configured group policy with the permissions required for SQL Server 2008 and this is correctly applied to the node.
Errorlog shows the following...

Word Automation in sample ASP.NET(C#) application.
I am using Microsoft.Office.Inetrop.Word Assembly for automation. Here I am reading a XXX.dot template file and fill the contents with dynamic data.
When i am executing my code in localhost:someportnumber the automation is working fine and I could get expected result and when I am hosting in my inetmgr(Windows XP is my OS) it is also working fine.
But the problem is that when I am hosting in my production server(Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition) I am not able to perform automation and results in the following error.
Data: System.Collections.ListDictionaryInternalMessage: Word has encountered a problem.Source: Microsoft Word
The code gets failed in the following line:
ApplicationClass wordApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.ApplicationClass();
Document wordDoc = wordApp.Documents.Add(ref oTemplate, ref oFalse, ref oMissing, ref oMissing); // Error in this line
I cannot able to proceed further. Can anybody please help me in solving this issue?
I have been looking everywhere online regarding this, but have not found a clear answer.
I have an ASP.Net app running on Windows Server 2008, it's basically a reporting app using Crystal Reports. I have encountered a roadblock in regards to rendering some pages. When I run the app in Visual Studio(on the same 2008 machine) everything works perfectly. Yet when I publish it and run it live the reports will not display correctly, I get a message saying Failed to render page.
I looked this error up in the Crystal Reports website and the fixes they have there refer to giving the windows "aspnet" user full access rights to certain folders on the machine. I would be happy to do this, however there is no aspnet user in Windows Server 2008.
I installed the server and set its role to be Web Server. I also checked all the options regarding ASP.Net and IIS 6 compatibility. Yet there is no ASPNET username anywhere.
Did I set the server up wrong? or do I have to do something within ASP.Net to create this user and then give it rights?
I had the CSS friendly adapters working great on our old server (windows server 2003 - 32bit) and now we have moved to a 64 bit environment and now I can not get the CSS friendly adapters to work.
We are using SharePoint 2007.
Is there another work thru for 64bit environment.
I notice windows server 2008 has a directory C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64 would I be using the browser file in this directory???
I have created a sequential sharepoint workflow in WSP Builder in my Sharepoint Server and Deployed it.
But the workflows says Failed on start and retrying ans stops there forever says couldn't start the workflow.
I repaired .NET Framework 3.5sp1 installed
1. I tried again, in C Prompt: Lodctr "c:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v3.0\Windows Workflow Foundation\perfcounters.ini" it says initiation file cannot be found
2 i again tried this C prompt Lodctr /R "c:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v3.0\Windows Workflow Foundation\perfcounters.ini"
it says reloaded from the system restored
i am still getting the same error.
When i manually go to my C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0\Windows Workflow Foundation i can see a folder for SQL that's it nothing more than that..
I dont know what is happening i am trying it from 2 days and still no solution.
any ideas would be real great help for me.
