I am about to replace a SQL 2005 database with no high availability options with two SQL 2008R2 boxes. I just have a few questions.
From what I read, database mirroring has automatic failover. So say the client specified TechSQL as the server, how does this name transfer over so the clients still connect when the first mirrored server goes down?
Since I only have two servers at the same physical site, is there a benefit of then adding log shipping, or doing log shipping instead (other than delayed log committal)?
