Replicate non indexed view to a table - custom sync object/

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :

What is the best way to replicate data from a view containing a LEFT OUTER JOIN (so cannot be indexed) to a physical fact table on the subscriber in as real time a fashion as possible?

I have heard of the use of custom sync objects etc.. can anyone suggest the best way forward and any references?

Is CDC a candidate for this type of task?

Thanks in advance

Details View Biding Custom Object with Enum properties fields

Hello, I'm trying to bind custom object to details view. The problem is that enum property fields are not show.Is there any way to show enum property fields in details view ?I put some example code below (I do not specify any rows mappings, they are generated dynamically because different kind of objects are bound to details view):// My object public class OrderItem { public ItemKindEnum unitemizedItemKind { get { return (ItemKindEnum)this.unitemizedItemKindID; } } ... } // Details view configuration <asp:DetailsView ID="dvOperationDetails" runat="server" DefaultMode="ReadOnly" ... />

SQL Server Table OR Indexed View

Hi     I am having a problem between chosing VIEW and TABLE from a SQL server database   PROBLEM Suppose the data table is name ACTION (of size 30M) with  schema ACTIONID/ ACTIONNAME/USERID/ ACTIONDATE. The Table is updated once everyday with 20K new rows For my purpose I only want a query on ACTION rows which are as recent as 1 week I want queries to run faster selecting from a smaller dataset(as there are joins as well)        SOLUTION A(Indexed) Instead of querying the 30M database everytime; I create a view that will store data from current date to 7 days earlier I set the view to refresh ONLY once a day and NOT everytime there is an insert update delete on the ACTION table That way my queries are faster (as from a smaller dataset) BUT my view doesnt refresh 20k times a day making the performance a disastrous one       Question : Can a VIEW be actually configured to REFRESH only periodically and NOT when table updates?         SOLUTION B(Indexed View) I create a View which stores all the ACTION table rows between 9/16/2010 and 9/9/2010 (today and a week, hardcoded) When new 20K entries are inserted; the view isnt refreshed even once as all the dates ate outside range(despite the ACTION table is updated) A trigger is attached to view to run a script everyday The trig

Can we create indexed view from the base table which has no index?

This is because i don't want any indexes in my base table but for better query performance i want in view..

Custom Control Design view error

I have created a custom control from scratch and it works fine as in you can build the project that uses it and it works fine at runtime. Problem is when you go to design view the control shows an error in the place of where the control should be rendered.

Error: '<SomeValue>' Could not be set to '<SomeProperty>'

This shows up on all my custom set properties. These properties are created as basic as possible. I can give the properties values in Source view and run the app just fine. I can even add a Onclick event. If I don't set any custom properties the control will render fine in Design view. It's only when I set a value to a custom property.

Property Code Example:

public string Text
                string ret = "";
                object obj = ViewState["Text"];
                if (obj != null)
                    ret = obj.ToString();
                return ret;
                ViewState["Text"] = value;

I've even removed the Category and Description tags with no difference.

I don't know if what I said makes sens, but I hope it

DataGrid: Tailor Your DataGrid Apps Using Table Style and Custom Column Style Objects

One of the most enduring challenges in writing user interfaces is figuring out how to display large amounts of data efficiently and intuitively without bewildering the user. The problem becomes particularly thorny when the interface must reflect hierarchical relationships within the data that the user needs to modify. The Windows Forms DataGrid control gives developers a powerful and flexible tool to meet this challenge. This article explains its basic operations and shows how to extend the DataGrid to display columns of data in an application-appropriate manner.

Contexts in .NET: Decouple Components by Injecting Custom Services into Your Object's Interception

The .NET Framework can use contexts as an object's execution scope and intercept calls going to and from the object, similar to the way COM+ provides component services. What is new with this mechanism is that the runtime allows developers to take part in the interception chain and add powerful services, thus extending existing component services. This in turn decouples the business logic from the system plumbing and simplifies long-term maintenance. Presently, .NET contexts and interception are undocumented aspects of .NET. This article presents the underlying interception architecture and message processing, explains custom context attributes, and walks through a custom interception-based component service.

Building a Custom Data Grid: Performing Ad Hoc Web Reporting with a VBScript 5.0 Class Object

A flexible, customizable grid for displaying data is a useful tool for ASP developers. It allows Web visitors to customize their view of your data. This article takes the data grid presented in "Ad Hoc Web Reporting with ADO 2.0" by John Papa and Charles Caison (MIND, December 1998) and adds handy features such as a finds feature that supports multiple finds and a mode for adding and editing records. This version also improves response time by allowing asynchronous record download and it componentizes the code so it can be used as a standalone VBScript class object that can be reused in other pages.

Change grid view from table to other HTML layout

You'll have to excuse my ignorance, I'm coming at this from a front-end perspective, and don't really know how to deal with data views in ASP.NET.

Basically, I'm trying to change the layout of some repeated data from a straight table, to something more design-heavy.  It's the same data, just re-organised slightly.  The current ASP.NET code looks like this:

                    <asp:GridView ID="GVMoments" runat="server" AllowPaging="True" AllowSorting="True"
                        AutoGenerateColumns="False" PageSize="20" RowHeaderColumn="FirstName"
                        SkinID="GroupSkin" DataKeyNames="moment_id"
                        <PagerSettings Mode="NumericFirstLast" PageButtonCount="20" Position="TopAndBottom" />
                        <RowStyle />
                                <asp:BoundField DataField="moment_id" HeaderText="moment_id" ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="moment_id"
                                    Visible="False" In

Entity Data Model and database view returning the same columns as there are in a table

When adding a stored procedure into the Entity Data Model I can select whether the procedure returns a scalar, a (new) complex type or one of the entity types I already defined.

How do I do something similar for a view?

I mean assuming I have a view like this

CREATE VIEW FilteredFoos as SELECT Foo.* FROM Foo join ... WHERE ...

(that is a view that implements some involved filtering, but returns all columns from one table) how do I add it to the project so that I can use the entity set, but get the Foo objects, not some new FilteredFoo objects.

var foos = myDB.FilteredFoos.Include("Bar").ToList();

foreach (Foo foo in foos) { ...

Thanks, Jenda

Custom tree view for navigating wiki pages

I'm creating an information resource on our intranet (WSS 3.0) using the wiki style format.  The only trick is, unlike a standard wiki, where all pages are directly under the parent, I want to be able to create a customizable tree view where some pages are nested underneath each other.  For example, this particular site talks about all of our different IT systems.  I'll have a wiki page for each system, then underneath each of those pages, there will be more pages for things like training, documentation, etc.  Even though all those pages are at the same level, I need to be able to nest them in a navigational tree view on the quick launch bar.  I suppose if there were also a way to nest the wiki pages themselves, I could just use the pre-packaged tree view.  Anyone have any ideas?

How to create scrolling table for columns in a SharePoint Designer Data View

I have a fairly complex SharePoint Designer 2007 Data View they have added two more requirements.

1. Have the columns on the right side be able to scroll left to right as there is a large number of columns, while the first 3 columns on the left side stay locked in place.  This is only one list not two, and because of some other requirements I have it must remain to be just one list.

2. Then they also need to have scrolling up and down of the entire list with the headers locked in place.

The first requirement is more important than the second, but preferrably I need to do both.

I am new to XSL so not familar with the syntax. Is this something I can do on a custom Data View? Does anyone have any examples of how?

I have a drawing that show how it needs to look but I don't see an option here to upload a graphic.

So here is a link to my graphic example uploaded to my blog area: http://lindachapman.blogspot.com/  or just the image here: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_aB01ue__NvQ/TGL42MOvrGI/AAAAAAAAAA4/c3xP4uCy4BU/s1600/Scrolling.png

I failed to mention that 3/4 of the columns are HTML Calculated fields wh

How to access the refrenced table fields in Ilist object of table MVC asp.net

I have 2 tables, master, detail. 1.master table have fields (id, username, plan)-->id is primary key (PK) 2. detail table have fields (srNo,id, worksummary, ... )--> srNo is PK.

I have created foreign key relationship from detail to .master table for "id" field.

the code is:

IList<detail> objDetail=new List<detail> ();
IList<master> objMaster = new List<master> ();
string[] sarray = queryFields.Split('|');//

for (int i = 0; i < sarray.Length; i++)
string[] sfields = sarray[i].Split(',');

if (sfields[0] != "")

objDetail.Add(new _detail { Id = count , modify = sfields[1].ToString(), verified = sfields[2], I});

I have problem to add fields in "objDetail" using Add method. But I am unable to access the reference field "Id" , rest of the field of detail table can be accessed using objDetail.

How can I access the "Id" field from objDetail object to add in IList.

I want to solve this problem

Implementing a custom Membership Provider vs. using aspnet_Profile table - Which should I do?

I wanted to expand the amount of information that is associated with each user(MembershipUser) in the ASPNETDB.MDF database file. Adding columns like FirstName, LastName, etc. So I began implementing my own custom Membership Provider. I created a derived MembershipUser class with the extra private variables that I wanted each MembershipUser record to store. Its basically done. Almost after I did this I stumbled across the columns in the ASPNETDB.MDF->aspnet_Profile table called "PropertyNames" and "PropertyValuesString".  Could I have simply used these two columns to accomplish what I was attempting to do or are these columns for global application configuration settings?

Is the aspnet_Profile table purpose to store expanded/related information about users such as personal information? Or is it for something else? Thanks.

Applying custom CSS to the MOSS 2007 Calendar control Month view

I have a requirement to use the MOSS 2007 Calendar Control - month view is to apply a custom css to have a look and feel as per our requirements.

We tried applying the custom css to the MOSS 2007 calendar control - month view, it does take the custom css and applies it, but when i click on any date and come back to the calendar control, it changes the CSS of the MOSS calendar control back to the default one.

Let me know if anyone has any suggestion on  how to customize the calendar control for css for our intranet application.

Your response would be highly appreciated.

Problem passing custom object returned by the same webservice among two separate projects

I am running into casting issue with this scenario: 1. I made a custom object lets call it EmployeeObject.  2. The Employee object is wrapped in the EmployeeWebservice.  3. I have a client application project lets call it EmployeeClientApplication and a class library called DoSomeWorkClassLibrary.  Both EmployeeClientApplication and DoSomeWorkClassLibrary reference the EmployeeWebService and need to be able to pass the EmployeeObject back and forth.  4. The EmployeeClientApplication also references the DoSomeWorkClassLibrary. 5. The employeeObject in the EmployeeClientApplication becomes EmployeeClientApplication.EmployeeWebService.EmployeeObject. 6. The employeeObject in the DoSomeWorkClassLibrary becomes DoSomeWorkClassLibrary.EmployeeWebService.EmployeeObject. 7. The DoSomeWorkClassLibrary has a method called DoSomeWork that takes an EmployeeObject. When I try to pass employeeObject from EmployeeClientApplication to DoSomeWorkClassLibrary by doing something like this: DoSomeWorkClassLibrary.DoSomeWork(EmployeeClientApplication.EmployeeWebService.EmployeeObject), I am getting Unable to convert EmployeeClientApplication.EmployeeWebService.EmployeeObject to DoSomeWorkClassLibrary.EmployeeWebService.EmployeeObject.  I have searched high and low to fix this issue, I have tried changing the namespace of the reference.cs file of the webservice in
