I was rummaging the internet learning aspx and came across the concept of: Microsoft Application Block for Data Access in .NET
It seems great of course. The articles are all early 2003-5 such as
So the question is - is this tech still relevant and should I be using it?
In this article, the author delves into some commonly used ways of writing data access code and looks at the effect they can have on performance.

What if you need to convert an existing Microsoft Access 97 database application into a true client-server application that is based on a SQL Server back end? If you know a little about Visual Basic and SQL Server, it's easy to make your app take advantage of the power and scalability provided by SQL Server 7.0. Using some concrete code examples, this article takes you step by step through converting the native Jet queries in your Access application into stored procedures and pass-through queries that SQL Server can use. You'll also learn how to pass on parameters when your client-server app calls these SQL Server stored procedures and queries.

I'm new to SSIS & require help for the below 2 query's:
1.We need to import data from Microsoft Access using SSIS 2005 to SQL server. Could you please let me know the steps involved to achieve this.
2. We have web access tool & data has been stored. I need to import the access data from the Web tool to SQL server using SSIS 2005
We have a website that was using Sql server 2005. There was a option in Website where when a user clicks a button, Some tables data will be exported to an access database. To achieve this, we have setup a linked server to Access database.
We have moved from sql server 2005 to 2008 (64bit). We did not want to use that option of having a linked server now. I am looking for different ways to achieve the task. We also donot want to use OPENROWSET
and OPENDATASOURCE .
Can someone give some insight about this?
SqlConnection sqlConnection = new SqlConnection(
string datasourceName =getDatasourceDatabaseName(ASPxComboBox1.SelectedItem.Text,kpConn);
ServerConnection srvrConnection = new ServerConnection(sqlConnection);
Server srvr = new Server(srvrConnection);
Database db = new Database(srvr, datasourceName);
foreach (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Table tbl in db.Tables)
ASPxListBox1.Items.Add(new ListEditItem(tbl.Name, tbl));
I'm experimenting with Access Web Databases with SharePoint 2010.
Can anyone tell me how you typically use workflows with these databases?
Do you just stick to data macros or do you export the information to a static list and then add the workflow to the list, or are any of you working with it in other ways?
I'm looking for recommendations.
Any advice is appreciated.
I hope this is posted in the correct section of the forum, if not please accept my apologies and point me in the direction of the right forum.
I am using Visual Studio (VS) 2010 and an Access DB, I am trying to get specific data from the DB into a gridview on a web page in VS.
Visual Studio can see the DB and it is on view in the Server Explorer and I have tested connection when setting up the two together.
In my DB I have three tables, Bookings
