By the sequence clustering algorithm, I get only one cluster, What does this mean?

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :

Hi, all here

1) By the sequence clustering algorithm, I get only one cluster, What does this mean?

2) When we use the sequence clustering algorithm, the predictable attribute must be in the nested table, right?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Initialize Centers For Microsoft Clustering Algorithm

Hi , everybody !!!

I wonder if there is anyway to give a hint to Microsoft Clustering Algorithm to use certain initial centers for clusters ?

May be forst N rows it set as clusters centers and it can be done by feeding rows in appropriate order ?

Thanks ,

Which clustering method is used in the clustering algorithm for Detect Categories table analysis too

I know that Detect Categories (part of Table Analysis tools) uses the Microsoft_Clustering algorithm in order to compare the similarity of rows in a data set and then categorize them. For the actual Cluster function in the Data Mining tab, you can customize the parameters of the clustering algorithm. This includes the parameter CLUSTERING_METHOD which specifies the clustering method for the Microsoft_Clustering algorithm to use. You can choose from the following clustering methods:

  • 1- Scalable EM
  • 2- Non-Scalable EM
  • 3- Scalable K-Means
  • 4- Non-Scalable K-Means

and 1-Scalable EM is the default method for the Clustering part of Data Mining.

When running the table analysis tool Detect Categories you do not have a way to adjust the parameters of the Microsoft_Clustering algorithm, including which clustering method to use.

So my question is what clustering method does Detect Categories use? I assumed it was the default for the Cluster, 1- Scalable EM, but I ran the same data set in Data Mining Clustering using the method 1-Scalable EM, and the cluster analysis gave me 6 clusters. I ran the same data set in the Detect Categories tool and it outputted 9 categories, not 6. So this is leading me to believe that the default parameters for the Microsoft_Clustering algorithm for the cluster tool

Direct2D Dependencies on Non Develpment cluster

Hello all,I developed an application in Direct2D and referred Microsoft.WindowsAPICodePack.DirectX.Controls.dll and Microsoft.WindowsAPICodePack.DirectX.dll DLLs. Development has been done in VS2008. Everything works fine on the development servers. But when I move the DLLs to the Integration (non developement cluster) it fails with following error: [COMException (0x800736b1): The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail. Hi  I am a newbie for data mining. As part of a project I need to categorise a set of customers of a grocery based on their age, gender, and average spending. I believe I should use the Clustering algorithm. I created a mining model a structure and a cube as well from the existing data base. But i can't get much further than that. What kind of queries should i write to "cluster" the customers and get their relevant clusters??

Would you use clustering to find documents similar to this one?

Hi, I am taking a BI Developer course and enrolled at a school where the teacher knows nothing about data mining. So I designed a project for myself and am trying to surmount the curve without the benefit of a mentor. Please have patience with me. I have a database full of documents where the entire text resides in a single field (nvarchar(max)) I want to find documents that are similar to the one I pick. I am not sure what approach I should take to get there..         1) create clusters for the entire database and then see what cluster my document is in OR                 2) some-how train a model on the single document and then let the DM engine go find the matches.   I have tried approach 1, but the similarity between the documents is not very high (at least in the few of thousands I looked at) I do not see how to do approach 2, unless I cluster with a test set size of 1, and that doesnt seem right.   Is clustering even the way to go?   Thanks, struggling in Austin

Clustering on cube slices

Hi, I would like to use the clustering algorithm "seperately" on each cube slice.  The problem description: Having many employes and their arrival-to-work time I created a cube with a fact table and 3 dimensions: Employee, Time, Office and I would like to run the clustering algorithm seperately for each employee to receive his arrival-to-work clusters and to find his exceptions e.g., for the employee John who has the following arrival time records: 08:05, 07:55, 8:10, 8:07, 10:30, 10:31, 10:28, 15:00 I want to receive two clusters, the first one will include  08:05, 07:55, 8:10, 8:07 The second one will include 10:30, 10:31, 10:28 (and the exception will be 15:00) Having many employees I would like to create one data mining model and to use the cube slice and dice options    Searching the web and the MSDN I didn't find whether and how it can be done - I will very appreciate your help   Thanks in advance, Lora

Time series algorithm parametrs

Hello everybody! I have the following questions to You: I have mining model with data by working hours(every day from 08AM-05PM). What PEREODICITY_HINT I have to use? {24} or {9} The second problem is that on the chart I see historical data wiht axis format 08AM-05PM, but in prediction part the periods is 00-24. It is not correct! I want to see the same 08AM-05PM periods too!   Help me please!   Thank You!

SQLServer 2008 Tools and SQL 2005 Cluster

I recently built a SQL Server 2005 cluster on the o/s Windows Server 2008 R2.  I have been attempting to connect to the cluster from my Windows 7 dekstop with my SQL Server 2008 Tool set.  I have been unable to attach to this cluster since its creation. The firewall is temp off, remote connections in the surface area configuration is set to pipes and tcp/ip and the Browser surface is up and running. I ran Wireshark against the cluster and I could see that there was UDP conversations for ms-sql-m (SQL Port) but that was as far as it would get.  I am using a named instance so not using 1433, but I do see the cluster offering up high RPC ports but the client never responds after the initial UDP response. When I noticed that there was a two way conversation taking place, I went to a seperate machine and fired up SQL Server 2005 Tools and I was easily able to attach to the cluster.  So my question is - Are there any known incompatibilities between SQL Server 2005 cluster services and SQL Server 2008 Tool set?  I can use my 2008 tools to attach to a non-clustered SQL Server 2005 w/o issue.   Error when attempting to connect: A network-related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to sql server.  The server was not found or was not accessible.  Verify that the instance name is correct and the SQL Server is con

Reinstalled SQL 2005 on cluster won't start.

OS: Windows Server 2003 32-bit. Cluster: 2-node Active/Passive We're working on upgrading from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008, and we're using this cluster to test the cluster upgrade/install procedures. So, updated the existing SQL 2005 instance to SQL 2008. This went fine. Added an additional SQL 2008 instance. This went fine. Uninstalled SQL 2008 (both instances) from both nodes. This went fine. Installed SQL 2005 (clustered setup). At the end of the install process, received a message about unable to do (something). However, the install reported successful. In the SQL0001_<computername>_Core(local) are these messages: Running: OpenPipeAction at: 2010/7/24 10:20:31 Complete: OpenPipeAction at: 2010/7/24 10:20:31, returned false Error: Action "OpenPipeAction" failed during execution. and much later: Error: Action "UninstallForRS2000Action" failed during execution.  Error information reported during run: Action: "UninstallForRS2000Action" will be marked as failed due to the following condition: In the SQL0001_<computername>_Core.log: Running: LaunchLocalBootstrapAction at: 2010/7/24 10:11:30 Error: Action "LaunchLocalBootstrapAction" threw an exception during execution.  Error information reported during run: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\setup.exe" finished and returned: 0 Aborting que

SQL 2008 R2 Full Clustering

I was recently informed during a Microsoft Roadmap meeting that SQL2008R2 can now be fully clustered. That is full load balancing across SQL servers not just Failover. However, having come away from the meeting and done some investigation I cannot find any references as to how to setup SQL2008R2 in anything other than a failover cluster. My question is ... Is SQL 2008 R2 fully clusterable ... and if Yes where can I find some documentation helping with its setup ?   Thanks in advance Derek

Any issues removing backup mount point cluster resources from SQL Server dependencies?

Win 2003, SQL 2005/SQL2008 64 bit enterprise failover cluster with 3 nodes and 6 instances. The mount points configured as cluster resources for the data/backup/logs. The entire cluster mount points are SAN replicated to a DR Site. But backup drives/LUNs are excluded from the replication. All the disk resources including backup LUNs are set to dependencies on the SQL Server server. The SQL Server is not coming on-line in the DR Site due to unavailability of the backup LUNs (failed resources). As per the documentation all the disk resources must be set to dependencies (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/835185). Thought it did not specifically mentions only Data/Log mount points and/or the backup LUNs as well. "The SQL Server 2005 resource depends on the SQL network name resource and the physical disk resources that hold its data. When mount points are being used together with the physical disks, each mount point must appear as a cluster resource. Additionally, each mount point must also be added as a SQL Server dependency. If only the root physical disks dependency is added and the mount points are not added, database corruption will occur on failover. Database corruption may also occur when SQL Server is restarted without failing over. "     What if I remove the backup LUNs from dependencies list. This will allow me to recover the SQL Server

20,000 foot view: Sql Server clustering vs. Windows OS Clustering

I read that Sql Server Failover requires Windows Sevrer clustering to be in place first. (The former builds on the latter). Why is this the case? In other words, what does "sql server clustering" bring to the mix  that normal Windows clustering doesn't supply? TIA, Barkingdog

troubleshooting clustering

i need step by step for installations of clustering in sql server 2008 environment? please help me on this.

Clustering of Sql server

Hi Everybody, please answer this questions this will be very helpful to me     1. discuss at a high level how to add a new node to an existing SQL cluster in both SQL 2008 and SQL 2005. Begin with SQL 2005.   2. You are a DBA.  The SAN Admin has provisioned a LUN on the SAN and presented it to the nodes and made it clustered storage. At a high level, in either 2005 or 2008 walk through adding the new storage to the SQL instance and what is very important not to forget?   3. Beginning in 2005, there is a SERVERPROPERTY we can now use in T-SQL to discover which node the SQL instance is running on?     Thank you Regards rcnj
