R-squared, F statistics

I am trying to build a data mining model in SQL Server for forecasting prices. However, apart from the lift charts, is there any way I can see any of the traditional statistics that other programs such as SPSS, SAS etc. show (statistics such as R-squared, F statistics etc.)

So that I can know where or which function need the most time.

Maintenance Update Statistics plan

Hi, I've created a maintenance plan for many databases with these tasks (SQL 2005) 1- shrink Database 2- Update Statistics 3- Cleanup History 4- Backup Database (Full) 5- Maintenance Cleanup task The maintenance plan failed at task Update Statics.  Here the error message : Error number : -1073548784 Error message : Executing the query "UPDATE STATISTICS [dbo].[LOG_DETAILS] WITH FULLSCAN " failed with the following error: "Could not continue scan with NOLOCK due to data movement.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly. My question :How do I know which database is causing the problem and how can I fix the problem ? I don't know a dbo database? thanks,   Jasmin

Lock statistics

Hope this is the correct forum. I know you can collect real-time information about locks. But are there any historical data that can be fetched per database?

Job Execution times / statistics report ...

We have several sites (countries if you may call them) and each site has its own set of ERP databases (Progress database). We have designed ETL layers that are open and which can be invoked for each of these sites. On top of the ETL layers, we scheduled the SSIS packages via SQL jobs for each site and scheduled them to run at various times of the day based on the site operating hours. I want to now present the amount of time it takes to copy data from the ERP system into our SQL 2008 Staging and finally into our DataWarehouse. I can manually right click on the SQL jobs and get the timings, however, I want to automate this report so that we can look at it initially weekly and maybe monthly when things start to run smoothly. Any pointers or ideas? I know I can run SQL Profiler and capture the SQL behind this report, would it actually work? ThanksJagannathan Santhanam

Auto Create Statistics - when does creation occur?

Hi. I've been asked to enable auto create statistics and auto update statistics on a production database that is suffering perfmormance problems. This seems a sensible move. However, I'm concerned about an inital performace hit when I turn auto create statistics on. When does the creation of statistics actually take place? Thanks.

Missing column statistics from default trace

I am seeing Missing statistics events on my default trace and was wondering whether I need to create statistics on the table. Missing Column Statistics Is this a good practice considering the advice on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190397.aspx

Re-indexing or update statistics after purging data

All,   I’m purging 250GB from a 1TB Multi SQL server databases in one weekend.   After running a re-indexing job do I have to run update statistics?   It takes about 5 hours to run 5% stats, so it will take a loooong time to do 100%.   I have been told that I don’t need to run update stats if I ran Re-Indexing, What do you think?

Ad Rotator with statistics

Hello,

I am using the simple asp.net adRotator control on my website. My client would like to gather statistics such as click-thru-rate and #impressions.  Does anyone know of any free or low-cost controls that can do this for me?

thank you.

Generating CSV files with statistics

History

ADO.NET methods interact with Stored procedures to retrieve the data and load into DataTable object.

When the Download button is selected, loop through DataTable columns and rows and copy data from DataTable to CSV file.

Current Requirement

The requirement involves generating various CSV files based on user's selection i.e., generate report for Jan to Feb or Current Month etc.

The spread sheet consists of various statistics i.e., No.of Visits during certain period, Total users, Expired users etc. Similar to the one here

Query

I like to know if there is a solution from SQL Server BI tools, through SSRS. I am aware that using SSRS it is feasible to produce CSV files, Excel sheets etc.

1. I like to know if it supports doing calculations to count Expired/Current users etc statistics ? Should be through custom methods (SQL).

2. Can these custom methods can be called through WCF service? where the UI is Web forms and the reports generation engine

SQL Server Maintenance Plan - Update Statistics fails if schema contains special chars

We have a database schema with a period in it's name.  This is valid as per http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa224033(SQL.80).aspx. When we create a maintenance plan to update statistics it will succeed if the object property is set to 'Tables and Views'. If this is set to 'Table' it will fail.

Steps to Reproduce

  • Create a new schema in a user database with a period in it's name, ie
    CREATE SCHEMA [Windows.EventLog] AUTHORIZATION [dbo]
  • Create a table with owner using schema created in #1, ie
    CREATE TABLE [Windows.EventLog].[Computer](

    	[ComputerId] [smallint] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,

    	[ComputerName] [varchar](255) NOT NULL,

CONSTRAINT [PK_Computer] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ([ComputerId] ASC)

    ) ON [PRIMARY]

  • Create a new maintenance plan, drag 'Update Statistics Task' to designer surface, edit properites, choose the user database, View T-SQL and test execution: it will work
  • Edit maintenance plan and modify 'Update Statistics Task', change Object to Table, change selection to all, execute task and it will fail. Also, if you now try to click 'View T-SQL' or change it back to 'Tables and Views', a error dialog with title 'Microsoft.SqlServer.MaintenancePlanTasksUI' shows will message 'Object

Usage Reports / Graphical User Statistics stopped working

Hi all,

our usage reports (e.g. at /_layouts/SpUsageSite.aspx ) stopped working after we migrated the database from one server to another. The "raw statistics" (_layouts/usagedetails.aspx), however, are still showing some numbers.

All services are still running, all relevant settings in Central Admin (SSP, Operations) are still active. Does anyone knoe what could be the cause for this?

Cheers,
Rene

UPDATE STATISTICS - Could not allocate space for object - Tempdb

Hi Everyone

I have scheduled a maintenance plan for index & update stats one after another.  Now-a-days this job is failing with below error.

Statistics And String Summary

I have a query in which the estimated number of rows calculation seems to be off.   The table looks like this:

UniqueID char(39)
LocationType int
Location varchar(75)

There is a clustered index on Location, LocationType, UniqueID  (in that order).  The Location and LocationType fields closely related (correlated).  So that the DISTINCT count of Location is very close to the DISTINCT count of Location, LocationType.  By itself LocationType has data pretty much like this: 1 (30% of all  rows), 2 (30%), 3 (30%), and 4 (10%)

When I query with:
1) SELECT UniqueID FROM [Listings_200_Locations] with (nolock) WHERE  (Location like 'Los Angeles County, CA%')

the server estimates the number of rows as 85683 (actual is 76198)

When I query with:
2) SELECT UniqueID FROM [Listings_200_Locations] with (nolock) WHERE  (Location = 'Los Angeles County, CA' and locationtype = 3 )

the server estimates the number of rows as 85307 (actual is 76197)

But when I query (and here's the problem) with:
3) SELECT UniqueID FROM [Listings_200_Locations]

Many Missing Column Statistics errors on full-text index fragments, even after reorganizing catalog

I seem to have a large number of full-text index fragments, even after reorganizing both full-text catalogs. (SQL 2008)

While reviewing the results of the default trace, I noticed many “Missing Column Statistics” errors.  Seeing as how there are over a thousand of these errors within a 12 hour period, I figure this is something I should take care of.

From trace, text data column:

  NO STATS:([MyDBName].[sys].[ifts_comp_fragment_2014778570_51269].[colid], [MyDBName].[sys].[ifts_comp_fragment_2014778570_51269].[pid], [MyDBName].[sys].[ifts_comp_fragment_2014778570_51269].[docidmax], [MyDBName].[sys].[ifts_comp_fragment_2014778570_51269].[dupseq])

When I query sys . fulltext_index_fragments , I see about 15 different fragments for each catalog, all with a status of 4.  I expected to see many more fragments listed, with a status of 0 maybe?  I guess I’m misunderstanding something.

After reorganizing the catalogs, I’m still seeing these
