Obtainning public variables from a module

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :WPF

Good day everybody.  It is almost a year since I have been using this high level language. Learning curve has been quite fast excepting few things that drove me nuts. To be accurate, and the first thing I am unable to resolve myself is the next:

There is something like in http://www.visualbasicask.com/visual-basic-language/reflection-on-modules.shtml. More preciselly I need something like Crazypennie user states. Basically, and as that user does, I need to obtain saved global variables into a module, called in my case "PublicStrings". I have tried thousands of code combinations that should work, at least seems to be ok, but all the time returns to me a nullreference exception (No New word and so on...). I have no idea of what's going on and no idea also of how to solve it.

This is the above's code:

Dim Assembly As System.Reflection.Assembly = System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly
Dim Modul1 As Type = Assembly.GetType(

using Session variables in shopping cart module.

Can anybody explain me how can i use session variables in shopping cart module. There are many products from which the user can choose from.

I jus did small part of this module, On clickning Add To Cart Button, that product details will be bounded to datatable which will then be redirected to shopping cart page to display it in gridview. This is for only one product. (single product details (1 row) will be shown on this gridview)

Now my query is how do I Add Multiple products on clicking add to cart on some other products page retaining the previous product in gridview.

Also I would like to know how to manage different customers (username) in Shopping cart module.

Thank u in advance.

Temporary tables in SQL Server vs. table variables

When writing T-SQL code, you often need a table in which to store data temporarily when it comes time to execute that code. You have four table options: normal tables, local temporary tables, global temporary tables and table variables. I'll discuss the differences between using temporary tables in SQL Server versus table variables.

Session and Application Variables

Public Shared function doubt????

I am using VB.net/ASP.NET and SQL Server 2000 for a web application.

For populating the dropdowns, I wrote a Public Shared function LoadDDL(), in which I pass the dataset and dropdown name to set.

I have my doubts that this function will produce unexpected results for concurrent users. And will mix the results among sessions because it is a Shared function.

I am confused here. Is it the right way to go?

Please advice. Thanks in advance.

NUnit and public static readonly

I have an app that I am testing with NUNit.  The project im testing has several helper classes that are created as public static readonly.  When I run the NUnit tests, they all fail with the same error

SetUp : System.TypeInitializationException : The type initializer for 'Systems.Utils.ConstantHelpers' threw an exception.
----> System.NullReferenceException : Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

IIS request filtering module

Hi folks,

I have migrated my web application to iis 7.5 Now I am using windows 7 as dev machine.

the problem is it takes several seconds to download a single page into web browser now. It contains only 300 records.

Everything is ok on prod website though. Prod version contains up to 200000 records .I can't also use code profile tool of red gate to analyze possible bottlenecks since the software in question can't restart IIS. No errors in IIS logs. I am using ISAPI Rewrite 3 filter by Helicon to apply some URL rewriting rules. I am thinking about conflict between ISAPI rewriting rules and default IIS 7.5 request filtering rules, since the IIS request filtering module gets a higher priority than even the built-in IIS 7.5 rewriter module. Is it possible to tweak the module through web.config so that priority is given to ISAPI rewriting rules or something like that?

Frankly, I spent several days to figure out solution. No success...

I've also deployed the application on IIS 5.1. Everything works fine. Any ideas about possible solution for IIS 7.5?

Can IronPython use dynamic variables?

1. Dynamically load 2 text boxes on a web form

2. Build a logic on those textboxes in IronPython to sum them and return the result.

3. I have already built a IPY script that does some opearions on a static text boxes. How to build a script on the dynamic textboxes?

Configure a module through IIS Manager?

I've developed a custom module with a custom configuration section.  Is there a way to create a plug-in or module so IIS Manager can manage the module?  I'm looking for the ability to enable or disable it by site as well as setup various configuration properties.

Module 1: Getting Started Building Web Parts in SharePoint 2010

SharePoint 2010 and Visual Studio 2010 enable you to create Web Parts quickly and easily. You can use project templates and project item templates to help you get started building standard ASP.NET Web Parts. You can also build a new type of Web Part called a Visual Web Part.

Module 3: Building Blocks for Web Part Development in SharePoint 2010

The SharePoint platform includes many built-in Web Parts that you can include in your solution, and provides many more components that you can use in Web Parts that you develop.

Module 5: Accessing SharePoint 2010 Data with Client-Side APIs

SharePoint 2010 provides a new client object model that enables you to create SharePoint solutions that run remotely from the SharePoint server farm.

Module 6: Accessing External Data with Business Connectivity Services in SharePoint 2010

SharePoint 2010 provides a new set of technologies known as Business Connectivity Services for retrieving, editing, updating, and deleting data from external systems.

Module 7: Developing Business Processes with SharePoint 2010 Workflows

SharePoint 2010 provides a powerful workflow framework that enables you to implement custom business processes that are driven by SharePoint data.
