Hello, I've done all the steps to successfully obtain an entry point of the in-memory _Assembly which I now need to call.

The function declaration is as follows:

1  HRESULT __stdcall Invoke_3 (
2         VARIANT obj,
3         SAFEARRAY * parameters,
4         VARIANT * pRetVal )

I found no docume

encoding function parameters and return values when binaryMessageEncoding is used

Dear All,

I'm creating simple web service that will accept some parameters (such as customer name and file name) and return content of an xml file as a string and WS client will save it on his side. I'm using custom binding with binaryMessageEncoding and httpTransport. The question is if it is possible to have these input parameters as well as returned xml content binary encoded somehow?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Using EXECUTE on dynamic SQL string containing scalar valued function with parameters

I would like to use EXECUTE for calling a scalar valued function as dynamic SQL and for assigning the return value to a variable. This is working fine as long as the scalar valued function does not have parameters. E.g.:

@Result bit, @Function nvarchar(MAX)

Passing parameters to delegate function

I need to convert the following C# code to VB.NET:

        public bool TryGetRewriteMatch(UrlContext url, out RedirectMatch match)
            // NOTE:  Normally this would use regular expression matches, cached database lookups, and/or dictionary lookups, etc.  It is hard coded for demo purposes...
            if (url.Path.StartsWith("/product/", StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase))
                int productID = -1;
                if (url.Path.EndsWith("def.html"))
                    productID = 2;
                else if (url.Path.EndsWith("ghi.html"))
                    productID = 3;

                if (productID > 0)

Pattern for parsing function parameters

I need to switch the order of some function parameters. Example:

SubrutineA(p1 + 2, funksjonB(fp1, fp2), p3)

should be

SubrutineA(funksjonB(fp1, fp2), p3, p1 + 2)

This is what I have tried:

string sinput = "SubrutineA(p1 + 2, funksjonB(fp1, fp2), p3)";
string spattern = @"SubrutineA\((.+), (.+), (.+)\)";
string result = Regex.Replace(sinput, spattern, @"SubrutineA($2, $3, $1");
Debug.WriteLine("result: "+result);

Obviously, this fails when parameters contain commas.

I have looked into "Balancing Group definitions" at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bs2twtah.aspx#balancing_group_definition, but find it difficult to apply this to my problem.

Any tips?

Linq: how to share parameters between lambda expressions ?

When using Linq to objects, you will quickly feel the need to pass some parameters from a method to another but it's not so easy because each Linq method is not calling the following one. In a Linq sequence, each method is using the result computed by the previous one. So, local contexts are not visible from one method to another.
The compiler is using two technical different ways to let parameters go out of a method.

If  the view state is the data entered into the form fields then they are supposed to be available in the request parameters or request body. Then why would we need view state for?

Content page control passes as argument to javascript function

Here is the content page:

<%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPage.master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="JavaDynamicCopyValue.aspx.cs" Inherits="JavaDynamicCopyValue" Title="Untitled Page" %>
<asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1" Runat="Server">
 <script type="text/javascript" >
 function copyValue(input, output )
   ouput.value = input.value;
   return true;
 <asp:TextBox ID="txt1" runat="server" onchange="copyValue(this,document.getElementById('<%=txt2.ClientID%>'))"></asp:TextBox>
    <br />
    <br />
    <asp:TextBox ID="txt2" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>

I got a javascript run time error says output is undefined. if I view source of the page, the txt1 markup became:

<input name="ctl00$ContentPlaceHol

connection to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL server express 2005 to function properly.

I dont have the SQL EXPRESS installed instead I have SQL Standard Edition.

 I have two SQL Server instances installed.

 1- UserLT (this is sql 2000)
2- UserLT\SQL2005 (this is SQL 2005 named instance)

But when i try to add a database to my VS website project I get the following error:

Connection to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL server express 2005 to function properly. please verify the installation of the component or download from the URL: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkId=4925

I went in Tools>Opetions>DataBase tools>Data Connection>Sql Server Instance Name (blank for default)

and changed the "SQLEXPRESS" to "USERLT\SQL2005".

But I still get the same error message. Any ideas how i can resolve this issue?

FormView -- Parameters and asp:Table

I've already solved this problem to my satisfaction, I just want to know WHY it works this way.

I have a FormView control bound to an ObjectDataSource.  Let's say our data source is a hypothetical table with three columns:  id, name, age.  Why is it that when I use the <asp:Table> element inside of the FormView, the parameter values are not set, but when I use the standard <table> tag, it works fine?

This seems like a .NET problem to me.  I expect the <asp:Table> element to work in the same way as <table> because they are, for all intents and purposes, the same thing.  Am I missing something?

linqdatasource parameters question

I'm currently getting to know the linqdatasource control. What would happen if several WHERE parameters are added to the linqdatasource control declaritively in the aspx page but no WHERE clause is defined?

1. is there any issue with setting up multiple WHERE parameters in the aspx markup for linqdatasource but then deciding which ones actually get used at runtime by setting the actual WHERE clause at run time? Would the unused parameters simply be ignored and cause no issues?

2. when you need to modify WHERE clause or WHERE parameters at runtime do you need to do so in an event handler? such as linqdatasource.selecting?
I see from the above link it is possible, but is that the standard way to handle controlling filtering in code behind for linqdatasource?

2b. if you use an event such as linqdatasource.selecting to add where parameters and/or modify the where clause in code will that also break the builtin sorting and paging support of the linqdatasource with a gridview?

Public Shared function doubt????

I am using VB.net/ASP.NET and SQL Server 2000 for a web application.

For populating the dropdowns, I wrote a Public Shared function LoadDDL(), in which I pass the dataset and dropdown name to set.

I have my doubts that this function will produce unexpected results for concurrent users. And will mix the results among sessions because it is a Shared function.

I am confused here. Is it the right way to go?

Please advice. Thanks in advance.

Word Automation Issue in Windows Server 2008 Hosting

The problem I am posting here is that I was facing nearly 2 weeks around. Any body comes with this stuff please help.

Word Automation in sample ASP.NET(C#) application.

I am using Microsoft.Office.Inetrop.Word Assembly for automation. Here I am reading a XXX.dot template file and fill the contents with dynamic data.

When i am executing my code in localhost:someportnumber the automation is working fine and I could get expected result and when I am hosting in my inetmgr(Windows XP is my OS) it is also working fine.

But the problem is that when I am hosting in my production server(Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition) I am not able to perform automation and results in the following error.

Data: System.Collections.ListDictionaryInternal
Message: Word has encountered a problem.
Source: Microsoft Word

The code gets failed in the following line:

ApplicationClass wordApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.ApplicationClass();

Document wordDoc = wordApp.Documents.Add(ref oTemplate, ref oFalse, ref oMissing, ref oMissing); // Error in this line

I cannot able to proceed further. Can anybody please help me in solving this issue?

Thank you.
