How Do You View/Use "resources" Files Produced by DotNetResourcesExtract?

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

I downloaded the free tool DotNetResourcesExtract.  It seemed to run without any problem and produced two files which have the extension .resources.  But now what?  What do I need to view those files and use their content?

Thanks,  Bob

Unique Pack URIs for resources (embedded / content / resource files) in several assemblies

Hello, When using resources as files (build actione=none and copy if newer), I'm able to manage resources using something like this : "/file.ico". Whatever the owner assembly is, because all files are copied in the Debug / Release directory. I'd like to have a similar behavior with pack URIs. I don't want to specify which assembly is the owner of an embedded / content / resource file. It seems impossible because we need to specify the source assembly ("pack://assembly_08:,,,/file.ico"), I'd like something like : "pack://whatever_the_assembly:,,,/file.ico". Is it possible ? Any idea ? Thanks.

Report Builder 3.0 issue - can view existing rdl files but cannot create new reports

I have Report Builder 3.0 deployed on my local machine pointing to a remote SQL Server 2008 R2 instance outside of my local domain.  Within this local Report Builder 3.0 instance I am able to open up previously created rdl files from the remote SQL Server 2008 R2 instance that I am connecting to.  However, if I try to create a new report on my local instance of Report Builder 3.0 and attempt to use the same data source as was used to create these existing rdl files, I receive the error: "Unable to connect to data source. The user credentials provided in the connection string do not have permission to connect to Reporting Services."  So why can I open existing rdl files from this remote SQL Server 2008 R2 instance, but not create new ones even though I'm using the same data source as the existing rdl files?  Thanks, Mark

Views with "View Model Class" as "Resources"

Following the DDD pattern we have views on WPF master/detail type.

In Master area our controls bind against the public properties of our view/model class.

I details area, we use a DataGrid which that manage an ObservableCollection property of our view/model class.

Then, the DataGrid is restricted the DataContext only to the columns of collection.

We try to add a column to hold a DataGridComboBox that as a result of the selection of elements give us an ID (with another table or entity external) for store in that collection. However having been delimited the DataGrid to unique data context of the Observable collection and we cannot assemble said combo.

You may be our ignorance about possibilities and issues of WPF, but the only found alternative (and that can severely impact on our architecture) is as follows:

Add a resources section to our views that contain our view/model, class instance instead of the DataContext section.

View all resources on a SharePoint group calendar by default.

I have set up a group calendar in SharePoint and added 10 items to the associated Resources list.  By default resource bookings will not appear on the group calendar unless you manually select the resources through the interface.  I would like the calendar's default view to display all bookings (or all available resources) by default.  Anyone have recommendations on the best way to do this?

Cannot View Xaml Files in VS2010 Professionl

I cannot view xaml in vs2010. The files are there, I can build and run.  But I cannot view xaml or designer.

I previously used vs2008 with blend2, and then vs2010 express and blend4 beta.  When I bought and installed vs2010 professional and expression suite 4  my problems began.

I uninstalled all beta and express products before installing.  May I have missed something?

3. While doing so, "something" happened and then I could not see anything in the folder in the SharePoint UI view. HOWEVER, I can see the files in the Explorer view.

Please help as folks need access to these file sin the SharePoint view.

I am using MOSS (SharePoint 2007).

Allow Dragging virtual files from list view like windows explorer

I am working with a desktop application developed in C#. A form in this application lists all files/folders from the computer drives. Users can drag/drop files/folders between the windows explorer and this form. The users can also drag files from this form (that contains virtual files list in a dot net listview control) onto [Adobe Actobat Professional] main window and the Adobe Acrobat opens the file in it properly.

But when I the users drag files from the form and drop them on the [Combine Files] window of adobe professional, it shows a cross (X) mouse icon that defines that the dragged items cannot be dropped on this window (Combine Files form).

Clean Web.Config Files (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

.NET 4 includes a new version of the CLR, and a new .NET 4 specific machine.config file (which is installed side-by-side with the one used by .NET 2, .NET 3 and .NET 3.5).

The new .NET 4 machine.config file now automatically registers all of the ASP.NET tag sections, handlers and modules that we've added over the years, including the functionality for:

.ASP.NET Dynamic Data
.ASP.NET Routing (which can now be used for both ASP.NET WebForms and ASP.NET MVC)
.ASP.NET Chart Control (which now ships built-into ASP.NET V4)
What this means is that when you create a new "Empty ASP.NET application" project in VS 2010, you'll find that the new default application-level web.config file is now clean and simple:

Model View Controller (MVC) for ASP.NET

Model View Controller (MVC) architectures, immediately wonder how the MVC pattern can be applied in an ASP.NET world. This article will demonstrate how the MVC pattern can be applied to an ASP.NET web application and still maintain the basic Microsoft supplied architecture.

How to detect and avoid memory and resources leaks in .NET application

Despite what a lot of people believe, it's easy to introduce memory and resources leaks in .NET applications. The Garbage Collector, or GC for close friends, is not a magician who would completely relieve you from taking care of your memory and resources consumption.

I'll explain in this article why memory leaks exist in .NET and how to avoid them. Don't worry, I won't focus here on the inner workings of the garbage collector and other advanced characteristics of memory and resources management in .NET.
