Dynamically Converting Values to appropriate datatypes and using Relational Operator

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

Hi,

I know there are .net champs. Need a small info / suggestion / solution for below scenario.

I have a table with the field name and field type (typically system types like int, date, double). I need to create a context specific method which will retrieve these values and by using Relational Operators compare the actual values.

for ex I have startdate and enddate available in a table with date types. I need compare these two types and check if startdate is greater than enddate. I get the actual values for startdate and enddate from XML. While reading XML I need to convert these values to date type and compare them using Relational Operator.

I do have a table with all Relational Operators and need to use them from the table as well.

I know using if, else, switch we can perform. But if the business requirement changes I might need to add more Relational Operators to table and start using them. So I cannot hardcode anything in the code.

Please suggest.

Thanks in Advance folks

Harish

Cannot retrieve values of dynamically generated controls

Hi All, I am creating a user control which contains checkboxes and labels that needs to be created on fly. The dynamic generation of these controls depend on the values retreived from a SPlist. I have several panels that display items queried from the list on the basis of a selection criteria. On a button click event I need to capture all the selected values from the controls that were generated dynamically.  When I traverse each dynamic control that I added to the panel, I dont see their values. I tried using recursive retrieval of the control from the page as well but it just behaves crazy, it treats a radio button as a checkbox and returns a value that I am not looking for. I am not using the the page_load() or any other event, I use the button handler on my custom method. I was thinking for ViewState, ControlsState or SessionState. I assume ViewState may not work on this as the dynamically generated controls need to be in the page_load event. Please guide as this getting way more complicated than what I had ever thought of it to be.

HELP! Setting field values - CONVERTING ARTEMIS SQL TO T-SQL 2005

I have the following statement written in ARTEMIS (an ancient SQL project management product): What would be an equivalent code syntax within SQL Server 2005's T-SQL? I am new to Sql Server and have not been able to understand the online help... set in tishead use stmeng1 set if xshopord exi in stmeng1 xbusunit=busunit if busunit present xcustnam=custname if custname present xopnlt=openlett if openlett pre xengrrel=engrrele if engrrele pre xlineup=lineup if lineup pre xlinent=lineupne if lineupne pre xmfgship=mfgship if mfgship pre xsubmodl= modelcod if modelcod pre xmpl=mpl if mpl pre xcwantdt=custwant if custwant pre end end

Adding Multiple Selected Values to ListBox Dynamically

I have a ListBox control that gets populated from a database like this:

For Each gvr As GridViewRow In GridView1.Rows
                Dim lb As ListBox = CType(gvr.FindControl("SectionsListBox"), ListBox)
                For Each sect As String In sectionlist
                    lb.Items.Add(sect)
                Next
            Next

Then the selected values also get populated like this:

For Each gvr As GridViewRow In GridView1.Rows
                Dim lb As ListBox = CType(gvr.FindControl("SectionsListBox"), ListBox)
                Dim faqid As Integer = gvr.Cells(0).Text
                selectedlist = oCMS.getFAQSections(faqid)
                For Each sect As String In selectedlist
                    lb.SelectedValue += sect
                Next

            Next

I need to have multiple selections, but I cannot get it to select multiple values with this line "lb.SelectedValue += sect".  The listbox has been set in aspx to allow multiple selections.

Create a year dropdownlist that with dynamically created year values

Using vb.net/asp.net 2005

I have a Year dropdownlist that I want to have the listItems created dynamically with these conditions:

1.  the oldest year selection will be "2009"

2.  all years including "2009" and the current year will be included in the listitems.

It's obvious now (at this date) that 2009 and 2010 will be the 2 current listitems, however I want this dropdownlist to automatically add all subsequent years in coming years so that there will not be the need to add a new year listitem each year.

thanks

Setting Values to dropdown in Repeater Dynamically

Ok So I have a Dropdown in a repeater, which currently has a drop down linking to a single datasource which just 10 items in it..so all the drop downs will have 1-10 as options.

Now I need to change this since each item in the repeater (i.e products) could have a different quantity.

This is what I currently have

<asp:Repeater ID="rptEventsList"  DataSourceID="srcServicesList" runat="server" >
    <ItemTemplate>
    <tr>
        <input type="hidden" name="hidden<%# Eval("displayOrder").ToString()%>" value="<%# Eval("itemCode").ToString()%>" />
        <input type="hidden" name="price<%# Eval("displayOrder").ToString()%>" value="<%# Eval("unitPrice").ToString()%>" />
        <asp:HiddenField ID="hdnItemCode" runat="server"  Value='<%# Eval("itemCode").ToString()%>'/>
        <td><asp:DropDownList  ID="qtyList" AutoPostBack="true"  OnSelectedIndexChanged="cblServicesLi

"IN" operator and error converting data type varchar to numeric

Hi,

I hope someone can help me figure this out please...

I have this query that returns some student data - specifically the student's names, and some classes they're enroled in. What I'm trying to do is return multiple rows using the LIKE operator.

However when I run it and plug in the parameters I get the errror - "Error converting data type varchar to numeric". This error doesn't occur when there is only ONE studentId. Only when there are multiple studentIds. I know it's to do with the string of studentIds being passed, but I'm not sure how to fix it?

Should I be using varchar as the datatype to pass the studentIds? Or do I need to cast this as something else?

Any ideas, much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason

Problem converting varchar values to numeric format for comparison

I've got an SQL-2008 database containing our network inventory (it's from LanSweeper - a low-end and very recommendable network management tool). In a table are all logins with the IP-address of that moment, where the IP-address is defined as VARCHAR(15).

I need to compare IP addresses with those in the table defining the IP segments, where the segment addresses are also defined as VARCHAR(15).

In order to be able to compare reliably, I need to convert the addresses to numeric format. I cooked up the following SELECT statement for that:

SELECT TOP (100) PERCENT Ipaddress, (
CAST(SUBSTRING(Ipaddress, 1, CHARINDEX('.', Ipaddress, 1) - 1) AS DEC) * 1000000000 +
CAST(SUBSTRING(Ipaddress, CHARINDEX('.', Ipaddress, 1) + 1, CHARINDEX('.', Ipaddress, CHARINDEX('.', Ipaddress, 1) + 1) - 1) AS DEC) * 1000000) +
CAST(SUBSTRING(Ipaddress, CHARINDEX('.', Ipaddress, CHARINDEX('.', Ipaddress, 1) + 1) + 1, CHARINDEX('.', Ipaddress, CHARINDEX('.', Ipaddress, CHARINDEX('.', Ipaddress, 1) + 1) + 1) - 1) AS DEC) * 1000 +
CAST(SUBSTRING(Ipaddress, CHARINDEX('.', Ipaddress, CHARINDEX('.', Ipaddress, CHARINDEX('.', Ipaddress, 1) + 1) + 1) + 1, 3) AS DEC) AS IP, Computername, logontime, Username, ADsite,

How to Pass Values Between Web Pages ASP.NET

You can pass information between pages in various ways, some of which depend on how the redirection occurs. The following options are available even if the source page is in a different ASP.NET Web application from the target page, or if the source page is not an ASP.NET Web page:

Use a query string.

Get HTTP POST information from the source page.

The following options are available only when the source and target pages are in the same ASP.NET Web application.

Use session state.

Create public properties in the source page and access the property values in the target page.

Get control information in the target page from controls in the source page.

dynamically adding sql server columns based on number of files in fileuploader

I want to create a new table to sql database at runtime.  The column names would be "Name", "Date", "Event".  I would also like to have one more column name "Image" but the problem is that since the amount of images will vary, I want the application to count the amount of files in the Multiple fileuploader and then add a image column to the table for the respected amount of files.

For example if i am uploading 3 files in the multiple fileuploader, the names should be "Name", "Date", "Event", "Image1", "image2", Image3"

I also would like that table name to be name dynamically from the textbox Name when the user enters the information.

I have the following code to make a new table, but I dont know how to name the fields at runtime like previously asked please help!!!

Dim objConn As New SqlConnection("Server=<servername>;uid=<userid>;pwd=<password>;database=master")

objConn.Open()

JQGrid Loading deleted values

Hi,

This is quite strange. here is the issue:

Some Info:

1. I'm using a multi-select jqgrid.

2. I have my own delete button to delete multiple orders

The problem:

When i press the delete button on the pager of my jqgrid, the records are deleted from the database but JqGrid shows some records (4-5). On refreshing the grid, correct numbers of records are shown.

Here is the code:

function delorder() {
        var amg = $("#horder").getGridParam('selarrrow');
        var cont = amg.length;
        if (amg.length > 0) {
