Installation of dot Net Framework 4 fails every time.on 64 bit Vista. have tried everything!

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

Running Vista basic 64 bit, service pack 2.. have used the verification tool to verify all the dot net frameworks from 1.1 to 3.5.. passed

used the clean up utility to remove  framework 4.. it says it was successful but appears to still be there..i.e. i can 'remove' framework 4 five times in a row  (!)

It appears that the record of 'failed' windows update attempts for .net4 go back all the way to febuary.. so it's not anything recent..

The error is code 643, which would (IIRC) imply that i have not got all the service packs installed, but I do, and unlike the way it used to be, you can't re-install a service pack without uninstalling it first..

Since I am concerned that the bug that won't allow installation of .net 4 would manifest some othewr unexpected place if i tried reinstalling a sevice pack, i don't want to go the uninsstall/reinstall route unless i *really* have to...

Frankly i'm at a loss..

Anyone?

Installation of .NET Framework 2.0 SDK fails with error #1935 (HRESULT 0x800700C1)

I tried to install the .NET Framework 2.0 SDK on Windows 7 Pro x64 since I need some of those tools to localize files. Unfortunately, the installation soon fails with the following error

Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Zip,Version="8.0.0.0",Culture="neutral",ProcessorArchitecture="MSIL",FileVersion="8.0.50727.42",PublicKeyToken="b03f5f7f11d50a3a"'. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800700C1.

Sometimes, this error appears before the one mentioned above (but not always):

The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2908.

I have no idea why this happens and I could not find any answer to this problem on the web.

.NET Framework installation fails

I have sent a programme to be installed to a company in France - I am in the UK - and the installation of the .NET Framework 4 fails rather badly.

Is there a compatibility problem between countries?

I have asked them to download the Framework from the internet and try installing that version.

Can anyone suggest what might have gone wrong as I would like to include the Framework as the PCs that will use the software will not necessarily have a connection to the internet - in most cases there is no internet connection anywhere near the computer.

The error list is very, very, very, very, very long. I have it as a PDF file (41 pages) and can send it by email if required. Or should I include it?

Microsoft .net framework 1.1 installation problem

Well I know there is numerous posts about .net framework 1.1 installation failure,I have searched through a lot of them.I failed to resolve my  problem so I am posting this.when I try to install .net framework 1.1 redistributable package which I downloaded from here it installs  .net framework version 1.0.3705 then when I want to install .net framework 1.1 service pack 1 downloaded from here which has the file NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe  it doesnt install showing the message  ''The upgrade patch can't be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing,or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program.Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.'' I have tried a lot of way to solve this including:using the stebner cleanup tool to erase all versions of framework then restarting  machine and reinstalling again but this way can't solve the problem, modifying registry etc.Other versions(1.0,2.0,3.0,3.5) are installing smoothly they are not creating problems only this fw 1.1.How can I resolve this issue. Please anyone help

Why does .NET Framework 4 client profile slow down boot time network creation?

I've been running a Windows XP sp3 KVM virtual machine for a long time now, and some recent update made the initial network startup go from a few seconds at boot time to around 90 seconds. Using Add/Remove program to uninstall recent updates points the finger at .NET Framework 4 client profile. With it installed, if I right click on network and ask for properties right after booting, there is a 90 second delay before the network dialog with the list of network interfaces finally appears. In addition, the network drive I have automounted at login is not accessible for the same 90 seconds. As an experiment, I tried going into the device manager and deleting the network interface, and if I reboot after that it takes 90 seconds for the new hardware wizard to appear. All these 90 second delays vanish if I remove this .NET update. The network comes up as soon as the system boots.

SQL Server 2008 - Installation Woe - .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

On a Windows 2003 R2 x64 server, I have been unable to install SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition x64. When running setup.exe, I almost instantaneously receive the following Microsoft SQL Server Setup error:"Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installation has failed.SQL Server 2008 Setup requires .NET Framework to be installed."What does not make sense is that I successfully downloaded .NET Framework 3.5 from the Microsoft download site (published 8/11/2008) prior to the SQL Server 2008 installation attempt.http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=ab99342f-5d1a-413d-8319-81da479ab0d7&displaylang=enI do need to note that a few nights ago, prior to downloading the framework (3.5 SP1), I ran the SQL Server 2008 setup executable. I was prompted that in order to install SQL Server 2008, the setup program needed to first install .NET 3.5 SP1 and Windows Installer 4.5. I let the .NET 3.5 SP1 install run for about 1.5 to 2 hours and cancelled (now I wish I had just let it go).It is my understanding (correct me if I am wrong) that the SQL Server 2008 setup program initially checks for any pre-RTM versions of .NET 3.5 SP1 Framework. Net Framework Install fails

Reviewed the links and unfortunately that did not help. When my DYMO Stamps program stopped working I contacted them and they suggested I remove Net Framework 2x and download/install 3.5. Uninstall of 2x modules was uneventful. When I try to install 3.5 it goes through the whole install procedure and then reports it failed. I do not know where to look for an error log. Now "updates" is permanently in my tray trying to install 3.5. I get the following message: The following updates were not installed: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and >NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB952847) x86. ClickOnce deployment fails if .NET Framework isn't installed

Hi,   I have noticed that installation of my application fails in some cases. If the user has .NET Framework installed the installation works. But if it's not installed then Click Once will install it, after asking the user to accept the EULA, installation will complete and the "Install"/"Don't install"-dialog appears.
