When I use interface as Contract in Web.config, I cannot call the service

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I tried to use interface to define services but the JavaScript function will fail.  Without the interface, everything works perfectly.  Consider the following.

Consider the following.

namespace Enroll.ER.Services {
 [ServiceContract(Namespace = "Enroll.WebServices")]
 interface IAccountService {
 bool Checkin(string acctKey);

namespace Enroll.ER.Services {
 [AspNetCompatibilityRequirements(RequirementsMode = AspNetCompatibilityRequirementsMode.Allowed)]
 public class AccountService : Enroll.ER.Services.IAccountService {
 public bool Checkin(string acctKey); {

 public class MyFaultException {
 public string Reason { get; set; }

Create an exchange interface to call a Windows Service with WCF

I'm develpong an application that consists on a Client that communicates with a Windows Service via WCF.
I have three projects defined: MyClient, MyService, MyExchangeClasses

The first two are easy to understand, client and server. The MyExchangeClasses project contains the interface for MyService remote function calls and contains the implementation of those classes that are passed via parameter o are returned by the remote functions that implement the interface I've already mentioned.

For example I have one remote funciton defined in the interface like this:

public interface IService1
   IEnumerable<MyObject> GetAllMyObjects();

And MyObject is defined like this:

public class MyObject
    public String Name { get; set; }

So in order to make it work MyExchangeClasses needs to be referenced in both MyClient and MyService classes.

Is it possible to convert WSDL file back to Service Contract Interface for hosting? (WCF)

Hi there,

I would like to convert WSDL file to Service Contract Interface for hosting purposes. I know there is an option  to create proxy classes for clients using SVCUtil.exe or WSDL.exe. But this is not i would like to do.

I have a situation where, one of our clients have already hosted webservice. And I need to host a similar webservice. so to do it I must hand craft whole service contract Interface from the scratch. So without writing from the start can I use the existing WSDL to create the service contract Interface and the implementation class automatically with some tool?

Service Station: Techniques for Contract-First Development

In my May 2005 column, I discussed contract-first development and appropriate times to use it (see Service Station: Contract-First Service Development). In this second part, I'm going to focus on some techniques for contract-first development within the ASMX framework.

Service Station: Contract-First Service Development

In one of my previous columns on Service Orientation (SO), I introduced the concept of "contract-first" service development (see Service Station: SOA: More Integration, Less Renovation). Over the next two installments of this column, I'm going to cover the topic in depth.

Invalid web service call, missing value for parameter: \u0027prefixo\u0027 (AutoCompleteExtender)

Good afternoon.

I'm trying to put an AutoCompleteExtender working, but i'm having an error, that i discovered with Fiddler, that is the reason that the autocomplete doesn't work:

Trying to call an asmx web service from a test project

I am trying to create a proxy for an asmx web service. The only thing I find in Visual Studio 2008 is a service reference. How do I call an asmx web service with a service reference? Certified Geek. Professional Data dude.

How to config a SendActivity make it consumes a WCF service?

In a ASP.net web project, I have a WCF service and Workflow service and my workflow service want to use the wcf service, so I use the SendActivity to consume the WCF service. I do this in the follow step: 1.Using Add the service reference dialog add the WCF service reference to my project 2.Add a SendActivity to the workflow and config it like this: EndpointConfigurationName:BasicHttpBinding_ISimpleService ServiceContractName:SimpleServices.ISimpleService OperationName:DoWork and set correct parameters.   All this config value I am copyed from the config file. But when I run this project it's always throw exception says "ContractFilter mismatch at the EndpointDispatcher" . But if I directly call the WCF service in code, it's all ok. For demo, I create a very simply WCF service and Workflow service for testing how to config, so I paste all the code here: namespace WFCallService.Services { // NOTE: You can use the "Rename" command on the "Refactor" menu to change the interface name "ISimpleService" in both code and config file together. [ServiceContract] public interface ISimpleService { [OperationContract] void DoWork(string workName); } } namespace WFCallService.Services { // NOTE: You can use the "Rename" command on the "Refactor" menu to change the class name "Sim

Unable to call an asmx web service using windows authentication from a Service workflow

Hello, I need to use an existing asmx service from inside my service workflow and I am unable to call it. This asmx service is hosted in a web application with iis set to windows authentication, anonymous is not allowed. I need to send the authentication, only way seems too be using transport for basicHttpBindings. Every time I try to call the service I get an error saying that there is nothing listening to the url of the service generated automatically by VS when I added the Service Reference ? my web config <configuration> <configSections> </configSections> <system.web> <compilation debug="true" targetFramework="4.0" /> </system.web> <system.serviceModel> <protocolMapping> <add scheme="http" binding="wsHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="WindowsCreds" /> </protocolMapping> <bindings> <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="UtilitiesSoap" closeTimeout="00:01:00" openTimeout="00:01:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:01:00" allowCookies="false" bypassProxyOnLocal="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" maxBufferSize="65536" maxBufferPoolSize="524288" maxReceivedMessageSize="65536"

Not able to read Config File data in Windows Service

While I'm trying to read connection string which is in App.Config file I'm getting error like "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." string strconn = System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["ConnectionString"].ToString(); For the windows service where I need to keep app.config file and how to integrate that config file with the windows service exe file. Thanks in advance.

Sharing Service Interface between client and server through common assembly

This thread indicates that there is a known bug concerning reuse of service contract interfaces with WCF. Has this bug been solved? I would like to avoid using the workaround since it would mean rewriting a whole lot of client code. In my specific scenario, I have a rather complex setting with 3 solutions: A server, a client and a third application. I want to reuse some of the logic from my server and the controls from my client in my third application, but I don't want to have to setup a server simply for the amount of logic I reuse. My idea was to instanciate the class that imlpements the service contract in the application, and link up the controls with the instance of the service that runs in the same application. This isn't working because the controls expect a reference to the service contract interface proxy and not the actual service contract interface. Even using the /r switch (which I assume is the "reuse types in referenced assemblies" checkbox in VS), the service proxy is created and the controls won't compile because of type mismatch.  What am I doing wrong? Thank you for your time.

SharePoint ASPX Web Service Call Error

I have developed an ASPX page using VS2005. This page simply queries a SharePoint list through a WSS web service using CAML and takes the results and populates a DataTable and binds it to a DataView. The code works perfect using VS2005 but when I port it over to SharePoint I get the following error.Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy.  To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file. separating service level data from business data in servcie contract

Hi I have read that service level data (like requestId, client name etc. required for tracing/auditing) should be separated from business data(required for actual business operation) ie. differencing "Message Header" from "message payload". When we say 'separation", does that mean service level data should not be defined/declared in my contract class. If so how clients will know what header info they have to pass? I can't enforce header info as part of my contract. i think http://blogs.microsoft.co.il/blogs/bursteg/archive/2006/04/23/141.aspx this is based on assumption that clients are aware what they have to pass in header. Issues in GetItemDataSources web service call in 2008 Report Server R2

Hi, I'm using Reporting Services web services endpoint ReportService2005.asmx with 2008 report server R2 and I'm facing some issues in getting the data source names for a report definition using the GetItemDataSources web service. The problem is that the data source names returned are different from the names of the actual data sources on the report server. The report has the following data sources: 0 1 _0 _A Data Source And the names returned by the GetItemDataSources for 2008 report server R2 is: AutoGen_0 AutoGen_1 AutoGen__0 AutoGen__A Data_Source When I make the same calls using a 2005 report server, the names returned are the same as that in the report definition. To summarize, only numeric data source names are changed to "Autogen_<number>"(eg. Autogen_0), data source names beginning with "_" are changed to "Autogen_<data source name>"(eg. AutoGen__A)  and spaces are replaced by an "_".   What is the problem for the data source names returned for 2008 report server R2? Or has there been any change in the way in which report server stores the data source names? Thanks, Kulbhushan Singhal.

SvcUtil-generated code or shared interface/data contract assembly?

If you control both service and client is there any benefit in using svcutil.exe to generate client proxies? Or is it better to share interface/data contract assembly between client and service?

app interface talking to service

Hi guys   what I am trying to implement is I have a server running as windows service, the server will launch as soon as the machine turn on, and I have application interface, when I start this app, I hope it can connect the service and talk to it, like get or set some info to control service, I know how to bulid a service and application, but how to implement the communication between them? how to get service instance from application, and when I close app, it does not bother service anything, just lose the app interface, service is still running in back   Thanks   btw: all those projects are built on .net framwork with c#
