I need to deploy a WCF service hosted in IIS 7.5 which has the following constrains:
1) Using Windows Authentication
2) No server or client certificate is needed
3) Using either BasicHttpBinding or WSHttpBinding
4) Using Message Security, so that it is not possible to monitor the communication maliciously. (I think Transport Security is not possible without server certificate)
Is it possible to fullfil the above requirements simultaneously? Thanks for the reply in advance. I'll appreciate it:)
I want to accomplish wsHttpBinding with Windows Authentication and Message Security. I've created a test service and deployed on Windows Server 2008 and IIS 7.5.
The virtual directory has been assigned a application pool running under
custom account domain\username. Only
Windows Authentication is enabled on the virtual directory ( i DONT want anonymous access enabled).
I keep getting this error "Security settings for this service require 'Anonymous' Authentication but it is not enabled for the IIS application that hosts this service."
Below is my server config file. I've followed instructions at
I am using XP and VS2010. I have created a solution which includes two projects (Console Applications) as follows
1) WCF_Service (self hosting)
When I try to pass client credentials to service, I am getting error message "The caller was not authenticated by the service".
Here is my App.Config for the service
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<service behaviorConfiguration="MetaExchange" name="SecurityHost.SecurityS">
I've recently installed a fresh copy of SSRS 2008 for the first time (SQL SERVER 2008 EXPRESS SP2). Straight install. No changes. And of course, it doesn't work! I was able to get to my report manager page, but only after removing RSWindowsNegotiate and
RSWindowsNTLM from the rsreportserver.config file and changing it all to RSWindowsBasic. I don't know why that worked, but it did.
But now I can't authenticate to my web service. I keep getting 401 errors, and nothing seems to work. I am at my wits end here. Here is what I have tried:
FYI, I am using Windows XP SP2, and VS 2008.
1) Changed the rsreportserver.config file so that it uses "RSWindowsBasic".
2) I have opened the Computer Management tool, and in the 6 SQL Server groups, I have added "Administrators", "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM", "ASPNET", and "NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE".
3) My Execution Account in SSRS Config is "[MACHINE]\LocalSystem".
4) The Report Server Service Account is "Local System".
5) On the "Services" dialog, RS is running as "Local System".
6) My RS code is: rs.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
I assumed this means it runs as ASPNET on my development machine from VS 2008.
I have read and re-read everyth
I'm trying to write a simple ASP.NET 4.0 app, using Windows authentication to login. This is on my peer-to-peer home network. When I click to login, it instantly shows my Windows identity, so it looks as though I don't even need to login, as it's already done that for me. However when I then go to any other page in the app, it looks as though I'm not logged in.
Why is that and how do I fix it?
I've tried this method in my code behind to try and validate that the Fileupload control has a file or not. I get the error message the the event "Server Validate" cannot be found. Can anyone tell why? Thanks.
Public Sub CustomValidator1_ServerValidate(ByVal source As Object, ByVal args As System.Web.UI.WebControls.ServerValidateEventArgs) Handles CustomValidator1.ServerValidate
' Get file name Dim uploadAvatar As FileUpload = DirectCast(AdvertisementForm.FindControl("uploadAvatar"), FileUpload) Dim UploadFileName As String = uploadAvatar.PostedFile.FileName If UploadFileName = "" Then ' There is no file selected args.IsValid = False Else Dim Extension As String = UploadFileName.Substring(UploadFileName.L
I have this code that hides a column in a gridview. (The column houses another nested gridview).
Protected Sub GridView1_RowCommand(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewCommandEventArgs) Handles GridView1.RowCommand
If e.CommandName = "Select" Then
If GridView1.Columns(0).Visible = False Then
GridView1.Columns(0).Visible = True
GridView1.Columns(0).Visible = False
The trouble is that if I click the select link on one row that action to hide is carried out on all rows. How can I set this up so that it only hides the row that is selected?
