Can I generate a local DB based on scripts?

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :JQuery

I want to take an existing database and recreate it locally; I could do this tediously, of course, but can I feed scripts that describe the structure of the database to the Data Explorer so that it will regenerate a DB and its tables, etc. inside my project?

Hello everybody.I am working on Login control and I am new in ASP.NET. So far what I did is :1. In Website->ASP.NET Configuration I change the form authentication to internet.2. I created a user profile3. This gave me a ASPNETDB.mdf database.4. I added this code :<connectionStrings> <remove name="LocalSqlServer" /> <add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="data source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=SSPI;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|aspnetdb.mdf;User Instance=true" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/> </connectionStrings> in web.config file.4. I added login control to my login page :<%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPage.master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Login.aspx.cs" Inherits="Login" Title="Untitled Page" %><asp:Content ID="MainContent" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContentPlaceHolder" Runat="Server"> <h1>Please Login</h1> <asp:Login ID="LoginAuth" runat="server" > </asp:Login></asp:Content> 5. And the login.aspx.cs file has :using System;using System.Collections;using System.Configuration;using System.Data;using System.Linq;using System.Web;using System.Web.Security;using System.Web.UI;using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls;using System.W

Generate Insert Scripts - Windows Tool

Some time back, i remember that there is a windows tool that generates the insert scripts for any given table and i forgot the link from which i've downloaded the tool. By any chance does any have the information on how to generate the INSERT Scripts for a table which has some data. My interest is to port the data between the databases, but the databases are in geographically in two diff locations as well as security restrictions are in place. All i have is email access for both the locations. Thus, if i can generate the INSERT Scripts for the tables, i can send the text file. Please throw your ideas on, transferring the table(s) data between databases.Every thing is perfect as long as you share

Allow scripts to run on the local host.

When I Start Debugging a website on the localhost the yellow bar no longer shows up at the top of the web page. How do I get it back?

Database deployment with Backup and Restore vs. Generate and Publish Scripts Wiz.

Could you please explain when is it better to deploy (publish) a database with Backup and Restore and when with the Generate and Publish Scripts Wizard?

As far as I understand Data-tier Applications in SQL Server 2008 R2 is a third option, isn't it? Are there more?

Thank you!

Infopath generate URL based off of a selection of a dropdown.

Hi,

Wondering if anyone had managed this or got any suggestions?

I have a list called terms and conditions, basically has title, and terms meta data.

I want to allow the user in the form to select which t&c are required for the specific request and then on save change it so that the t&c link to the dispform is shown.

Now is this something I will have to do purerly in code behind or can this be done with some fancy rules on the form?

Automate Managment Studio 'Tasks > Generate Scripts' option

Hi all,

Is there a way(command line / SSIS / anything to use with the SQL Server agent or another scheduler) to generate scripts like the  'Tasks > Generate Scripts' option in MSMS 2008?
The Generate Scripts Wizard does exactly what I want, but I do not see an option to automate this task.
I just want to dump table etc create scripts to the file-system.

Am I overlooking something?

Using sql server 2008.

Regards,

Fabio

Cannot generate table scripts with DateTime2 datatype in SQL Server 2008

When trying to generate a "CREATE TO" script from a SQL Server 2008 table containing either DATE or DateTime2 data types,  I get the following error:

Script failed for Table 'dbo.tMyTable'.  (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)
Column SnapshotDate in object tMyTable contains type DateTime2, which is not supported in the target server version, SQL Server 2005. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)

However, I've checked all my databases (including master, tempdb, etc.) and ALL are cmptlevel=100.

Thoughts?

The trick to force Webmatrix to create the MySQL database install scripts on my local box?

 Here is why I ask:

I've found a Webmatrix help article that says MS Webmatrix "publishes the (SQL Server or MySQL) database by creating scripts that run in a database that has been created for you by your hosting provider." That is wonderful, except I can't get it to work when I'm trying to publish a MySQL database (backing wordpress) through FTP (my hosting provider does not support 'web deploy'). Again, no problem, since it is already documented that " FTP protocols cannot be used to publish MySQL database. "

But this does not excuse Webmatrix from generating MySQL database install scripts for me. During the publishing step, no database install script is generated - at least that I can tell - and there is no manual option to create a database export / backup / install script.

In short, as Webmatrix goes, I'm dead in the water trying to get my database uploaded to my hosting provider. Does anyone know the trick to force Webmatrix to create the MySQL database install scripts on my local box? Once created, I can take-over the upload and install process.

How to generate an XML file from SSIS (based on an XSD)?

I have an XSD that describes an XML format. I also have a sample XML file as well from the XSD. I am trying to understand SSIS's capability to generate the XML file in an ETL process. I would need to create the XML file based on the XSD that I have. It is safe to assume that all the data elements are in the DB that I am incorporating in the ETL and it is also safe to assume that the data in the XML may be from multiple different tables (so massaging is probably necessary).

Would this be a job for C#/VB or can I do this through an SSIS process/task? Please help me understand my options. Thanks.

Local IIS doesn't serve up or (IE doesn't display) any XML based documents.

I can not display any XML based documents hosted on my local IIS. It refuses to serve even the simples for xml documents. I cannot, for example, run 'svcutil.exe http://localhost/my.wsdl' but I can 'svcutil.exe C:\Intetpub\wwwroot\my.wsdl'. None of my websites display properly. I may add that I'm running IIS 7 on Win2008R2, 64bit hosted in VM.

5 GridView Themes Based on Google's Personalized Homepage (igoogle)

One of the silly features I have found that I like about igoogle is how the pages color palette changes depending upon the time of day. So as the day progresses from morning to afternoon to evening the colors on the page change as well. Like I said, I know this is a silly feature, but I like it. And I have asked around a little bit and seems like other people like it to. To get a better idea of how the colors change, here are the background images from a few of the HTML elements.
