Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :JQuery
Hello everybody,

I have a windows application published. I jus tried to install in my client's machine but got error while installation which reads like this 'unable to install or run the applcation. The application requires that assembly Microsoft.SqlServer.Connectioninfo Version be installed in the Global Assembly Cache(GAC) first.'

Please can any one suggest  how to resolve this?

Any help is appreciated.!

Deploying Web Application from VS.Net 10 to Windows Server 2003

I have built my site using VS.Net 2010 on my XP machine. I would like to deploy it to my server which is a Windows 2003 Server. I have tried to do it with FTP, but it keeps failing with the error that "Front Page Extensions are not installed on the web server". When I check the server the extensions were installed and I also checked IIS and the service for the extension is allowed. How can I get this done? I need to deploy my site urgently.

Your advise is welcome.

Deploying an application using Windows Bootstrapper... localization issues in the bootstrapper itsel

First off, apologies if this isn't the correct way to post this question. It IS connected with deploying a .NET application using Windows Bootstrapper and installing the needed prerequisites.

The thing is, despite asking Visual Studio to publish a localized package, the Microsoft Bootstrapper has some strings hard-coded into the setup.exe, such as "For the following components", and these strings are always in English. So despite having created localized packages for the .NET installation (which work... mostly... I'm still new at this :P) the ClickOnce installer is still not entirely localized to my liking.

So far the only solution I found was to fire up a HEX editor and start manually changing the strings in the .EXE, which is a whole lot of painful work, especially if you need to publish some changes to your application.

Any hints or tips as to how fix this issue would be appreciated.

Application Architecture in Windows Forms 2.0

Applications have special support in Windows Forms. For starters, you can manage and tailor your application's lifetime, and, when the work flow is disrupted by an unhandled exception, you can choose from several methods of response. Then, there are several application models that you can employ, including Single Document Interface (SDI) and Multiple Document Interface (MDI) applications, each of which can support either multiple-instance or single-instance mode, the former the VS05 default and the latter requiring special consideration. All applications, however, can discover and use a wide variety of information about the system and environment they execute in.

Application Architecture in Windows Forms 2.0-Single-MDI Applications

Consider an MDI application like Microsoft Excel; files opened from the file system (by double-clicking) are all opened as separate child windows within the parent Excel window.7 For the first instance of an MDI application to open a new child window to display the file that was passed to the second instance of the application, the second instance must be able to communicate with the initial instance.

SqlServer - Windows Account to install Application from Gallery

Referring to this tutorial: http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/tutorials/download-and-install-an-asp-net-application

I selected umbraco cms and got this wizard:

I already have Standard Sql Server 2005 on my machine which I wanted to us for above DB and not SqlExpress.

I did not remember "sa" account pwd nor I use explicitly any account to connect to my Sqlserver. I use Windows Authentication account i.e implicit authentication. So I created new account and gave all rights and used it in the above wizard and was able to install the database after some struggle.

My question is: What if I want to use my Windows Account to install the database above? Why the wizard don't have any option to use Windows Integrated Authentication?

Note: I can create the DB with external user I created, just looking specifics for using Windows Authentication for above installation.

Code Name Longhorn: A First Look at Writing and Deploying Apps in the Next Generation of Windows

The next version of the Microsoft Windows operating system, code-named "Longhorn," marks a significant change not only in terms of how the operating system works, but also in the way in which applications are built. The Longhorn version of Windows includes a new storage system, natural search technology, and an increased emphasis on security and trustworthy computing. Here the author provides an overview of Longhorn, focusing on the build-once, deploy n-times application model. In addition, he discusses the new language, code-named "XAML," that's used to create UI elements, then presents some working samples.

Windows Forms: Give Your .NET-based Application a Fast and Responsive UI with Multiple Threads

If your application performs any non-UI processing on the thread that controls the user interface, it may make the app seem slow and sluggish, frustrating users. But writing multithreaded apps for Windows has long been restricted to C++ developers. Now with the .NET Framework, you can take advantage of multiple threads in C# to control the flow of instructions in your programs and isolate the UI thread for a fast and snappy user interface. This article shows you how. Also, it discusses the pitfalls of multiple threads and presents a framework for safe concurrent thread execution.

Designer crashes sometimes because application path becomes C:\Windows\system32

Sometimes VS crashes as it seems to execute the WPF designer in its directories or C:\Windows\system32. Sometimes it works fine as we can preview saved settings in the Designer. I have set application path as follows : ConfigFile = Path.Combine(AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory, "mixer.ser");<br/> When VS crashes I accept to debug it, the exception is : {"Access to the path 'C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\\Common7\\IDE\\mixer.ser' is denied."}    System.Exception {System.UnauthorizedAccessException} ... or c:\windows\system32 Any ideas on how to fix this ?   Thank you !
