Fix: The type or namespace name 'EntityDataSource' does not exist

Today's stupid mistake had me going in circles in my Web application project. The error message was: The type or namespace name 'EntityDataSource' does not exist. As the rest of the error message suggests, I must be missing an assembly reference. Nope, I'd already added in the references to Entity : System.Data.Entity System.Data.Entity.Design After much frustration until after 1 a.m., I gave up and went to bed. This morning I realized that what it wanted was the WEB Entity! System. Web .Entity System...(read more)

I run my website : www.qenglishcenter.com and I'm getting an error : The type or namespace name 'Linq' does not exist in the namespace 'System' (are you missing an assembly reference?) shouldn't System.linq be already existed ? Thanks for any reply.

How to resolve "Tag ... does not exist in XML namespace errors"

I am new to both Workflow and WPF and am writing my first IValueConverter in an attempt to properly handle an InArgument of "WorkOrderTypes" Enum type represented as a ComboBox in a custom CodeActivity's ActivityDesigner.   I have used an ObjectDataProvider to successfully populate the ComboBox's ItemsSource property, but am stuck at getting the binding working for the InArgument<WorkOrderTypes>.   I have looked around in this forum and elsewhere and have seen recommendations that i use an Converter class.  So I thought I'd give it a try. My Converter class is probably not coded correctly in this first cut, but I am unable to build the project to use the debugger to see the inputs and outputs to get it working because it won't build.   When I try to build it, there are no direct code syntax errors but I get the error: "The tag 'ComboBoxToWotArgConverter' does not exist in XML namespace 'clr-namespace:MyCo.Workflow.Activities;assembly=MyCo.Workflow.Activities.DemooActivityLibrary'".   The skeleton custom "CreateWorkOrder" CodeActivity, its "CreateWorkOrderDesigner", and the 'ComboBoxToWotArgConverter' classes are all in the same ActivityLibrary assembly MyCo.Workflow.Activities.DemooActivityLibrary".    The  public enum "WorkOrderTypes"&

Then we tryed adding a reference for Microsoft.SharePoint.portal - but this class is not available in the dialog box 'Add reference'. Can anyone help - please.

Modal Popup - Unable to set label text property

I have ajax accordion with 6 panes with an user control inside each of it.
 In the first pane I have a form view user control and have a modalpopup to
display error message. The same method is used in all other panes.

On page load I was able to set the label text property and it properly shows in modal popup.

However whenever I do some validation and update label text property, the modal popup
shows up but the label text property is not updated. It works in all other panes.

The only difference is the user control in the pane is inside of a update panel. If I remove the

update panel every thing works fine. But I need the update panel to avoid full post back.

How do I set the label text property inside of a modal popup.

Sections of code below:

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
        lblNewMessage.Text = "Error";

 protected void FormView1_ItemCommand(object sender, FormViewCommandEventArgs e)
	 if (!doValidate() ) { return; }
    public bool doValidate()
        if (!psClassUtil.check_isnull_or_empty(firstName, 30, "N"))
            lblNewMessage.Text = "First Name is required (Maximum 30 characters)."; // does not

The tag XXX does not exist in XML namespace 'clr-namespace:YYY'.

I have the following issue:

Label does not exist in the current context error

Hello All,

I am facing a weird issue.I have a label on the front end but when I try to use it on the code-behind and run my code I obtain an error: Label does not exist in the current context! The label is shown in intellisense and was working earlier.My team mate had created a back up of the file and it stopped working after that.I deleted the back up files and tried but it doesn't seem to work.Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

The following is the code snippet of the front end as well as the code behind:

 <div id="weather">
     <img src="sunny.jpg" alt="sunny" height="40px" width="40px"/>
     <p><i>(5 minute Averages)</i></p>
            <td><b><font size="2px">Current Time</font></b></td>
            <td><asp:Label runat="server" ID="Label_Time"></asp:Label></td>
       <tr><td><b><font size="2px">Temperature</font></b></td><td><asp:Label runat="server" ID="Label_Temperature"></asp:Label></td>

Setting label property in web control

Hello all,

I am converting a 1.1 .NET web app to 3.5, and I've run into a bit of a jam.

One web control has a Property that sets the page title label on that web control.

    Public Overridable Property PageTitle() As String

'Exposes the PageTitle property of the child control.
Return lblPageTitle.Text
End Get

Set(ByVal Value As String)
'TODO: find out why this throws a NullReference exception
lblPageTitle.Text = Value
End Set

End Property

When a page with the web control was loaded before, it would set the Property to a given string, like in ucHeader.PageTitle = "This is a string."  Now, if I don't remove the lblPageTitle.Text = Value, I get a NullReference Exception.  Anyone have any ideas?

overriding Text property of an inherited label

I'm writing a new control that inherits a Label.  this control is intended to maintain a fixed string value of "Text" but display whatever contracted portion of the original text will fit inside the bounds limited by this control's width.  e.g. if "Engineers are the modern wizards" doesn't fit within the width allowed the text displayed is contracted to "Enginrs ar th modrn wzrds".

public class LabelTextAdjustToSize : Label
string[] strWords;
string strSplit = " .,:;-+=-_!?";
string strVowels = "aeiouyAEIOUY";
string[] strDiphthongs = { "ae", "oi", "ou", "ie." };
public string _strText;

public override string Text

WPF / Silverlight tutorial: Visibility property and binding

Visibility property is a very powerful and yet often overlooked property available in both WPF and Silverlight. It enables you to set Visibility of certain UIElement objects to different states like: Visible, Collapsed and Hidden (not supported by Silverlight). This tutorial shows you how to use it and how to bind to Visibility property

ASP.NET provides a configuration system we can use to keep our applications flexible at runtime. In this article we will examine some tips and best practices for using the configuration system for the best results.

The element of a web.config file is a place to store connection strings, server names, file paths, and other miscellaneous settings needed by an application to perform work. The items inside appSettings are items that need to be configurable depending upon the environment, for instance, any database connection strings will change as you move your application from a testing and staging server into production.

Let's abstract away the source of the connection string using a class with a static property.
