SPS 2003 : Unable to open file more than 1Mb

Hi, I work in the creation of a portal in SPS 2003. We found that some documents whose size was greater than 1 Mb can no longer be opened. Word returns a runtime error "1177". When we restart the farm ,problem is resolved but reappeared after several hours .We have tried to restart the database to see if it could solve the problem, the problem is not corrected. Then we restarted the front-end web services SharePoint, this does not work. Then we did an IIS reset,the problem is not corrected. This problem affects all types of documents (pdf, doc, ppt, xls ...). Thanks for your help. Best Regards. Mawi. + DEVELOPER

Unable to open an Excel File in Sharepoint MOSS 2007

I am unable to open an excel file in Sharepoint (MOSS 2007). All other documents work fine. As far as I know there was no change on the Server at all.

Excel found unreadable content in 'stuff.xls'. Do you want to recover the contents of this workgroup? If you trust the source of this workbook , click Yes

When I click YES >> It says "Excel recovered your formulas and cell values, but some data may have been lost." And then a link to an xml file , which reads :

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
- <recoveryLog xmlns="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/spreadsheetml/2006/main">
  <summary>Errors were detected in file 'http://server_name/Project_name/Shared Documents/abc - def/Phase 5/Track/stuff.xls'</summary>
- <additionalInfo>
  <info>Excel recovered your formulas and cell values, but some data may have been lost.</info>

Now this has resulted in huge loss of data and I can see New numbers in the cells which is very strange!

Is there a way I can get it back ? I do not have a

Unable to copy file "obj\Debug\Project.dll" to "bin\Project.dll"

Hi. This is really flustrating. When i compile my WebApplication, it works normally. But when i do refresh in browser, than IIS somehow "locks" that dll file and another compilation ends with this error:

Unable to copy file "obj\Debug\Project.dll" to "bin\Project.dll". The process cannot access the file 'bin\Project.dll' because it is being used by another process.

After restarting application pool in IIS, it's released and i can compile in standard way. I tried use handler.exe from sysinternals and it shows, that w3wp.exe process is using that dll. It's very time consuming before every compilation restart IIS. Any ideas where can be a problem please ?

Unable to open the physical file. Using Asp.net Forms and VB.net Project

I Hope I can explain and express this well.. I'm getting tired figuring out this error. Well, Basically. I have uploaded my ASP.net website to a server (IIS installed) as well as the VB project I made.

BOTH are connecting to a DB named CLIENTS.

the website uses a datagrid to show data, while the VB Project updates the DB based on a monitored folder.

The Problem is If the website is opened first the VB project shows an error "Unable to open the physical file (MDF). Operating system error 32 (error not found)"

and Vice Versa if the VB project is first started.

Please Help.

Double click an associated file type and have it open in your WPF application?

I have a WPF application that does a number of things. When running the app, I can go to File > Open, browse to a file, and open it in the app. Fields on the UI are updated with values from the file and everything works great.

The file I am opening contains binary data and has a custom file extension that is associated with my application. The problem is that if I DON'T have the WPF application running and I double click one of my associated files, it simply opens the application. I would like it to open the application and then load the contents of the file I clicked on. How can I go about doing this?

I have looked into using the Application_Startup event handler in the App.xaml.cs but cannot get the filename when double clicking on it as my StartupEventArgs are empty. However, the sender.ToString from Application_Startup handler returns "MyCompany.MyApp.App". How can I get the filename and go about loading it?

Another thing is that if I put a breakpoint in the Application_Startup event handler and double click my associated file, I never hit the breakpoint. The only way I hit the breakpoint is when I run the application from the IDE. I would like to be able to double click a file, then hit the breakpoint so I can do some debugging.

Thanks in advance.

Unable to open xls file in edit mode.

XLS files that I have created in office 2007 and saved down to 2003 format cannot be opened in edit mode by some users who have office 2003.  Trying to open from Sharepoint site with server version 2007.  Versioning is on.  Check out is required.  They have the appropriate permissions as contributer.  Any ideas?  I had them run this thinking it would help, but no dice.  "Go To Start > Run > Type webfldrs.msi

Click on Select Reinstall Mode button (not Reinstall button)

Select all options

Click on OK

Now click on the Reinstall button

Unable to open BCP host data-file

I am having trouble with BCP. I get the same error with xp_cmdshell as I do with entering bcp as a DOS command. I have checked and rechecked the file names and permissions and even restart the PC.

Does BCP even work when SQL Server 2005 Express on a PC?

Could the fact that it's actually pulling BCP from c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\binn\ be a problem? I know this because it doesn't recognize the -x extensionof the bcp command.

How to detect and avoid memory and resources leaks in .NET application

Despite what a lot of people believe, it's easy to introduce memory and resources leaks in .NET applications. The Garbage Collector, or GC for close friends, is not a magician who would completely relieve you from taking care of your memory and resources consumption.

I'll explain in this article why memory leaks exist in .NET and how to avoid them. Don't worry, I won't focus here on the inner workings of the garbage collector and other advanced characteristics of memory and resources management in .NET.

New off line application working with sdf file. Need advice

Hey Folks

I am working on a project currently where I need to get data out of a 3rd party vendor's software that uses a .sdf file I looked this up and its a SQL CE file. I was hoping to just link to with with access but thats apparently not going to happen. I need to link to the database extract data from it to a csv file for later use. I also and most important I need to get the data from it and create a report that can be printed while on a customers site that my or may not have web access so I need for this program to be on and off line. I had my webapplication that I have been working on open and was able to bring up the sdf file under the server exploere however I can't seem to get anything out of it when I try to do grid views or detail views errors out.

Can I use one of Visual Studio projects to create this sort of applicaiton if so what would be the best approach. I would love to get an access odbc driver since office is allready installed on the employee's laptop's

Read Excel file from Web Application (C#)

I have a web app where user uploads a file.

File is saved in server locally and I want to read some data from it.

Currently my development  server has office 2003.

So do I need office 2007 in order to be able to  read an excel from office 2007 ?

What are other requirements  ?

I tried a test, using

Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application excelApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application();
Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook wrkBook; // = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook();

wrkBook = excelApp.Workbooks.Open(@"C:\www\excel_files\b.xls", ....);

But When trying to open the file I get the error:

Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A03EC

So I'm wondering what I'm missing.

Cutting Edge: Customize Your Open File Dialog

Displaying an Open File dialog is certainly easy in the Microsoft® . NET Framework with Windows® Forms, but the resulting window is not as customizable as when you create it through the Win32® API. With Windows 2000, Microsoft added a nice feature-the places bar, which is the vertical toolbar that appears on the left side of the window to let you select a frequently visited folder.

An example of packaging web application containing database upgrade SQL file

A few months ago, we have a blog talking about extending the web publishing pipeline to package database project deployed SQL file.  In this blog, I'll show step by step example of packaging web application with SQL Server database upgrade SQL file using Visual Studio 2010.  This way, we can generate a web package with incremental SQL script to certain database version.  The scenario may help distributions of a web upgrade package which needs to be installed on many different locations, each with their own SQL server database.   1. Create a Web Application Project 2. Add a new "SQL Server 2008 Database Project" to the solution 3. Prepare a development database, such as my test1 database as the following: 4. Unable to open pdf from document library MOSS 2007

When I click on a pdf document uploaded in a document library it comes up with a blank page.

I guess it's trying to open pdf on the browser. I turned off "Display PDF in browser " option in Adobe Preferences, but it doesn't help, same issue.

I tried other browsers too, it's the same issue.

I am able to open all other pdf files local to my machine fine.

I am using IE 8 on my machine (Windows 7) and the Sharepoint server is MOSS 2007.

Moved from WinXP to Win7 - don't see choice to open file in read only or edit mode

I just recently moved from Win XP Pro SP3 to Win 7 32-bit Pro. I am logging into domain X normally. Our Sharepoint 2007 server authenticates only on domain Y. So I start Internet Explorer with "run as different user" and provide my domain Y credentials. All fine.

In win XP, after I did this, when I click on an Excel file on Sharepoint, I would get a dialog asking if I wanted to check out and edit or open as read only.

In win7, I don't get that choice. The file simply opens, and I get a bar at the top which allows me to check out the file if I wanted to.

How can I restore the functionality I used to have, with the dialog for checking out the file before opening it?
