Create Sharepoint List Connection String

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

I'm trying to use SQL Reporting Services integrated with Sharepoint.  I'm trying to create a "Sharepoint List" data source.  I can't seem to find a working example of the connection string.

The article I read says:

data source=http://MySharePointWeb/MySharePointSite/

But it fails when I test the connection.

Can I create several steps to be run on a SharePoint list as a task to run on a daily basis?

We have a manual process that we do on a SharePoint list to export data from SharePoint to a spreadsheet that can then be used by non SharePoint programs.  I'd like to be able to automate this process so that it can be scheduled as a Task to run on a daily basis.   Not sure if a workflow can do what I'd like it to.  I have SharePoint Designer 2007 as well.

Here are the steps:

1. Load a particular View of a SharePoint List

2. From the view's Action menu, "Open with Access"

3. Save the resulting Access database as a file to a specific Folder on the computer hosting SharePoint

This would be run as a Task on the computer hosting SharePoint.

In this exercise, you create a custom list definition in Microsoft SharePoint 2010 and then create an event receiver that is triggered when the list is used.

How to read a column of a sharepoint list to a text string field of infopath form?

My infopath form used to read these email addresses from a web service and web.config file. Now i would like to get these user email addresses from a contact list in a sharepoint server. I am trying to do this without writing any codes. Here is what i have done so far: 1. Adding a new "data connection to receive data from SharePoint library or List" where i selected Email Address column of the contact list. 2. I added a new Text Field and define a new rule with "Query using a data connection" defined above. When i try to access the newly created Text field above it always return empty as if the Query attached to it did not executed at all. What did i do wrong? Is there a better way? Thank you in advance for your help.

Excel External Table Data can only create new SharePoint List when Exporting from Excel?

I have a SQL Query that I refresh everyday in Excel. I want to be able to export this list over to a SharePoint list right after my refresh in Excel but I can only Export to a SharePoint list only once. If I try to export again to the same list then it will give me the error "The specified list name is already in use on this server. You must rename the list before publishing it to the server." I have web parts that have connections to this list and I do not want to export my Query to a new SharePoint list everyday. Does anyone know a way around this issue?

2-Way Connection between SharePoint List and SQL Database?

We currently have a SQL database with an Access front-end.  It's clunky and everyone hates it, of course.  Is there a reasonably simple way to tie a SharePoint list to a table in the database so that items can be entered in the SharePoint List and show up in the database, and vice-versa?  The reason for keeping the database is that some data is entered by users in Access, but some comes from an external source - thus, the need for a 2-way connection. It's MOSS 2007.

101 question - New to VS 2010, create connection string to perform test with Oreilly txt book

Hello, I have installed VS 2010 Ultimate and it came with SQL 2008.  I am trying to figure out what version it is and also how to create a connection in place to keep using the Oreilly examples to hopefully learn how to develop in C#.  I have been learning but it is getting more difficult.   I try to follow the steps but it just does not make sense.  If anyone could provide some easy steps to check version and connection method to sql using 2010, I would be grateful. I did see a post for sql management(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=08e52ac2-1d62-45f6-9a4a-4b76a8564a2b&displaylang=en).  I am going to download to hopefully be able to view the database.  We have sql server 2008 at work and I have used the studio management for sql to run queries and would like to do the same with the version that was installed with the installation of 2010 ultimate.Hopefully I can get the connection to the database so I can start learning how to build a dictionary and list for some queries.  My goal is to create a aspx file that will show entries in a database we have at work.  Trying to take baby steps.Thanks for the help.

  List newList = ctx.Web.Lists.Add(lc);
  System.Threading.ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem(new WaitCallback(CreateListCallback), ctx);

  var context = (ClientContext)s;

Can a single form create multiple entrys in a custom Sharepoint list

Sharepoint 2010 Create Lookup List

New to Sharepoint 2010, and have little to no experience with Sharepoint 2007.

What I currently have is a page called "Customer List" that has a list of clients all entered with the wiki-type formatting. [[client name]]

This is what I'm after: Create a Customer List in a manner that it will create a link for a Customer Page/Site that can be edited with all their pertinent information. Being able to use the Customer List as a lookup source for the Issue Tracking module we're setting up.

Not necessarily married to using the wiki formatting. It's something that is currently in place. Ideally, we'd like to be able to go tot he Customer List, add a new entry, and it could automatically create a new Customer Profile Page based on a template we design. Then, once that customer is created, it automatically will add their name to the list that the Issue Tracking uses for the Customer lookup.
