host-named site collection, 401 error (SP Foundation 2010)

I'm trying to create a host-named site collection. However, after its creation, I try to access it with the browser and I'm challenged to enter my username/password  (validating through Active Directory, I believe) and I get a blank page. Looking in the IIS log I see a 401 error with sub-status 1. I'm creating everything programmatically through the  API. I'm following this article:  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc288637.aspx# It's not clear in the article exactly what DNS does or should do with host-named site collections. I added a line to my hosts file:   altlocalhost And I can ping altlocalhost with no problem. When I deploy directly a simple site collection without host-named stuff I'm not challenged to enter user name/password and the site works fine (and I'm authenticated with AD).

Access Denied/The workflow could not copy the item workflow error after Sharepoint 2010 upgrade

We have a sharepoint designer workflow that copies a document from one library to another on the same site.  Before the upgrade to 2007 it worked fine, but now with 2010 it gives an error and cancels the workflow when it gets to the copy list item step.   The error on the workflow page: The workflow could not copy the item. Make sure the source and destination lists have the same columns and column settings.  Access Denied   Specifically it is the "copy list item current item to documentlibrary" sharepoint designer workflow action.   I have given the system account full permissions to the library and double checked that all columns are the same in both libraries. Receiving Error when Trying to Develop Sharepoint 2007 Workflow using VS 2010 Pro

I have created a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise (32 bit) SP2 image configured with Sharepoint 2007 Enterprise and a trial edition of Visual Studio 2010 Professional.  All software is fully patched.  When I try to create a new Sharepoint 2007 Sequential Workflow (.NET Framework 3.5) in either C# or VB, I receive a pop-up error: Exception of type 'System.PlatformNotSupportedException' was thrown. and, when I click OK and fill in the name of the workflow and a valid Sharepoint Web URL for testing, I receive the following error: SharePoint site location entered is not valid.  The SharePoint site at <removed> could not be found.  Verify that you have typed the URL correctly.  If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application. The URL in question references the default SharePoint site on this test server and does exist.  My assumption is that the second error received is a symptom of the first.  I have looked elsewhere and seen issues related to 64bit SharePoint implementations but, this is a 32 bit installation.  Based on the VS 2010 web site, I have met all of the prerequisites for developing SharePoint 2007 workflows through VS 2010 Pro.  Does anyone have any ideas on what I might be missing or what I need to

Error Publishing Workflow - : Activation could not be completed because the InfoPath Forms Services

Recently our when trying to publish a new workflow we are getting the following error: Activation could not be completed because the InfoPath Forms Services support feature is not present. Another symptom is any existing custom workflows are not running. There are several older posts from SharePoint 2007 that indicate to disable and re-enable the SharePoint Server Enterprise Site features. I have tried that and I still get the error.  Looking through the ULS I see the following when I try and publish a workflow: 09/16/2010 15:04:29.48 w3wp.exe (0x2070) 0x0718 SharePoint Foundation General 8e2s Medium Unknown SPRequest error occurred. After Installing SharePoint Foundation 2010, trying to open site gives 404 error in browser

I had this as reply on a thread about migrating from WSS 3.0 to SFS 2010. But I have completed all the steps with the modified documentation, but the browser delivers an error 404 when I try to open the site I created.  Same thing happens if I go at it via https, but first I get a certificate warning error (using the IP instead of the FQDN) and then being prompted for credentials.

I am completely stumped at what else to look at.  Any help in gathering information to get help is also appreciated.

Environment:  SBS 2008, SFS 2010, SQL Express 2008.  Rest of the IIS sites continue to function normally and I can get to the management site ok.  Although after the install, I had to go into application pool and change the service account from the domain admin (it defaulted to that) to networkservice account, otherwise I got a 503.  Same thing happened on the site I created until I changed the service account.  Now just a 404.

Error deploying workflow feature in VS 2010

Hi all,

I have a VS 2010 state machine workflow solution, and am getting errors deploying the feature.  It is a 2 part question:

1. The error is: "Error occurred in deployment step 'Activate Features': Feature with Id '8ebb19f1-c0cc-49be-9d48-f56d0c0cfdf8' is not installed in this farm, and cannot be added to this scope."  Here is my feature:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<Feature Id="E7A6A9DB-FAA5-430E-8380-1C60A372879B" Scope="Site"
 ReceiverAssembly="Microsoft.Office.Workflow.Feature, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c"
 ReceiverClass="Microsoft.Office.Workflow.Feature.WorkflowFeatureReceiver" >
 <Property Key="GloballyAvailable" Value="true" />
 <Property Key="RegisterForms" Value="*.xsn"/>
 <ElementFile Location="ApprovalFormWComments.xsn" />

I added in the feature Id attribute just to try to resolve the error, but that didn't help as VS adds in the ID and scope automatically based on your settings in the feature designer window.

2. If you noti

Microsoft Project 2010 synchronize with SharePoint Foundation error (invalid characters)

I have been unable to synchronize my MS Project with a SharePoint Foundation tasks list. Each time I try I get the following message:

"Unable to synchronize the project with the SharePoint tasks list because the list name contains invalid characters. Modify the list name and synchronize again. Valid list names cannot contain any of the following characters: !.[]'"

I click OK and the process stops. It creates the Task list in SharePoint but does no more.

The SharePoint task list name is not the issue. I've tried a few (Project Tasks, tasks etc). It's not the Task Name in Project either. I'm using a test project file with only two tasks called "Startup" and "planning".

Any ideas?

Getting Unexpected Error while Publishing my Reusable Workflow

*** UPDATE ***

After waiting for anyone to respond, and needing to figure this out, went into Central Admin and reversed steps (1) & (2) below to bring my system back to the state where the workflow would compile.  That didn't work ... I am still getting the error.  So now I am lost ... what could be causing this problem?  Anyone ??

I created a reusable workflow over a week ago and it has been working perfectly. Today everytime that I try to publish the workflow I get the following error during the "Validating the workflow" step:

"Errors were found while compiling the workflow... Unexpected Error on the server associating the workflow"

The only thing that has changed between when it worked and when it doesn't is that I configured the Server to enable ability to use the "Show workflow visualization on the status page" setting.  To do this I learned that I had to provision a Secure Store Service, create a Visio App ID and associate it.  So I followed these two sets of instructions:

  1. http://tinyurl.com/39l4jl4
  2. http://tinyurl.com/24w33lg

When I first got this error I did some Googling and found some p

An error has occured in sharepoint 2010 foundation

I'm having problems with installing SharePoint foundation 2010. Istallation finishes without any errors and the configuration wizard just as well. But when I the try to open the following url (http://server:port/_admin/adminconfigintro.aspx?scenarioid=adminconfig&welcomestringid=farmconfigurationwizard_welcome) a blank page with the text an error has occurred. Also, after turning customerrors off and httperrors to custom, I get a 500 error when accessing the central administration.

Because of some research I have done I found out that turning the pipeline mode to classic instead of integrated fixes that issue. But if I do that I cannot access any page anymore (e.g. the /default.aspx). I get a 404 - not found.

Any help is very much appreciated.

SP Foundation 2010 Install ERROR: New-SPConfigurationDatabase, The given key was not present in the

Sorry for such a basic question. I have tried many config tweaks to install Foundation 2010 but always failed to configure the Farm. The error msg is:

Reviewing the logs doesn't hint any obvious err

Error when creating a Workflow in SharePoint 2010

Hello All,

Just wantd to get some help with this problem.  I was trying to create an Out of the Box Signatures Workflow in my test SharePoint 2010 environment but I get the following error:
