Customizing The Display Form in SharePoint Designer 2010

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

I have an interesting problem.  I have a need to hide a particular field on a listform.  I believe I can do it using conditional formatting and using the IfHasRights function.  I would then put in the number 16, which is the ApproveItems permission.  The problem I am running into is when I create a  new Display form.  On the custom list I have a few lookup fields that pull data from other lists on the same site.  This all works well in both the new and edit forms.  I customize or create a new Display form then set that form as the default.  When I open a list item, I see the URL to the lookup list rather than the value.

For example, I have a lookup field for Region.  The region was set to "western" when the list item was created.  When I am viewing the list item, rather than seeing "western" I see <a href="http://<SITE COLLECTION URL>/listform.aspx?PageType=4&ListId={369791AE-A520-466F-87ED-D1006D6D4679}&ID=2&RootFolder=*">Western</a>.

Has anyone else seen this?  It happens both when I create a new display form and when I edit an existing form.  I can do what is necessary on the edit and new forms, but the display form is giving me fits.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give me.

How to use display Text in Hyperlink For SharePoint 2010 Designer Workflow

In SharePoint 2007 Designer, I have used the Hyperlink column to store the link "http://www.sharepoint.com/Default.aspx, Details". The details text will be shown in the Hyperlink column. Everything works fine in sharepoint 2007 Designer workflow.

In SharePoint Designer 2010 Workflow, I used the same method but the hyperlink column is displaying the full text "http://www.sharepoint.com/Default.aspx, Details" instead of only Details

error in sharepoint 2010 designer while saving:"Content in the embedded form may be changed by the t

I am doing development  in sharepoint 2010 and facing this very weird problem.
If I create a site page with the sharepoint look and feel for that site and try to save the site page,i am getting this error:**"Content in the embedded form may be changed by the the server to remove unsafe content.Do you want to reload your page to see the results of the save? "** and when i say reload, the server removes some parts of my page, e.g onclick event of html, asp buttons.

This error just comes for any sharepoint site page,e.g i took a copy of 'How To Read Library' page just edited the text part of taht page, and when i try to save this error again comes up.

However,if i create a simple aspx page with only htmltags like head body, then thr is no problem ,everything works great. But sharepoint look and feel pages are giving troubles while saving.

has anybody seen this earlier, what could be the reason for this?

SharePoint Designer 2010

I installed SharePoint Designer 2010, no problem.  I started it up and I was unsuccessful in attempting to create a blank site.  I received the message "The web site must be created on a server that is running Microsoft SharePoint foundation".  I would have thought that if it gave you the option to create the SharePoint site that it would generate it.  Do I need to install Microsoft Server on my PC?  I would prefer not to do that....
