FTP Task working in XP but not working in Windows 7/2008 machines

Posted By: Posted Date: August 28, 2010 Points: 0 Category :Sql Server
Hey , A FTP Task in IS pkg is working fine when executed through BIDS in my Win XP machine ..but the same package is not working in Win 7/2008 machine. FTP task fails with the error : [FTP Task] Error: Unable to connect to FTP server using "FTPFolder.TempData.com". Here are few facts about my troubleshooting : 1) From my XP machine... I am able to connect to the FTP Server using DOS Cmds but fails in 2008 machine saying "Unknown host" I did : Run>Cmd>FTP>Open FTPFolder.TempData.com 2) I can view the files on the FTP server through a browser ( URL was given )on both the machines with no issues. 3) I created Port exception for 20 & 21 Ports for 2008 machine ...still no luck. 4) When I PING the FTP server --Cmd>PING FTPFolder.TempData.com On XP Machine...though FTP Server Name is resolved to IP... I still receive "Request timed out." On 2008 Machine ...the IP is not even resolved and error is thrown "Ping request could not find host FTPFolder.TempData.com. Please check the name and try again." 5) I am connecting to FTP Server from my Office machines. I have searched all the threads on this FTP error topic and haven't found the apt thread..so I have opened a new one.

Suite Integration Toolkit executable has stopped working On Windows 2008 R2

I am not sure what else I can say about this except I seem to run into this error each time I attempt to install any .NET Related tool above 1.1. I have tried clean out all .NET installs to reinstall but I run up against this and at this point, I have a machine that is clean of .NET 2.0 through 4.0. I am unable to reinstall because I keep running up against this problem. ReportViewer on IIS 7 Windows 2008 not rendering, usual fix not working

I moved from Katmai and Windows 2003, to SQL 2008 RTM and Server 2008 with IIS 7. My ReportViewer based .Net application runs but reportviewer control icons do not display and the report does not render. Same reports render in ReportManager and Visual Studio. I tried this common fix which did not work:

  • Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager and select your Web application.
  • Under IIS area, double-click on Handler Mappings icon.
  • At the Action pane on your right, click on Add Managed Handler.
  • At the Add Managed Handler dialog, enter the following:
    Request path: Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd
    Type: Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.HttpHandler
    Name: Reserved-ReportViewerWebControl-axd
  • Click OK.

My Web.Config is below. Any insights appreciated.

Can you give me a hand with this?

Office Sharepoint Server Search not working but Windows Server Search is.

I am having an annoying Issue with the Sharepoint 2007 Enterprise search functionality. I cannot get the Search Centre to work, the out of the box webparts crash the page except the Searchbox when the others are closed. The event viewer shows up numerous Errors (Office Sharepoint Server - EventID 7080) returns with and the same when trying to add a search related web part (e.g. core.results, federated etc). EventID 6398 - Timer is a regular as is 7080. Details below.

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified).

Remote connections are connected, I am not 100% on the Instance name, (how would I go about checking this?)

Also I cannot access the link to SharedServices1 - Open Shared Services Admin site (not clickable), guess it's permissions but I seem to have full site permissions, I think I need SSP-Admin to make more edits to the Search, maybe this is related :s

Both Search Servers are runnig, I have tried everything I can think of to fix this and allow the Search Centre to work.

I am running Sharepoint 2007 on SQL Server 2008.

WSDL not working for SQL Reporting Services 2008

I have seutp reporting services successfully, but now i want to generate a proxy to be able to interact progromatically with the reporting services 2008 like I did in 2000 and 2005. I have tried viewing the WSDL from a command like this: http://localhost/reportserver/reportservice.asmx?WSDL and I get an error like this: The path of the item 'WSDL' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash. ReportViewer Print Button not working correctly with windows 7 clients

I need some help being pointed in the right direction to fix the following issue: - After building several reports using reportviewer and testing with windows XP clients everything seemed to be fine. I noticed that the first time the client loaded the asp.net website and clicked the print button it asked permission to install a small file (I assume this is to allow the reportviewer to access the clients printers). - The problem I have is on Windows 7 Clients. They can view/export the reports with no problem, but when they click the print button it ask permission to install the small file, but a error is given during the install process and the file is not installed. If anyone has a solution or can point me in the right direction it would be helpfull. I am using Visual Studios 2008 on Windows XP PRO and the site is hosted on Windows Server 2003 R3 Thanks

how to make working WPF 2010 program make changes to SQL Server 2008 Express files

(1) I have a working WPF 2010 program that manipulates a table in SQL Server 2008 Express (2) the program does delete, update, select and insert correctly however in its own project file folder logbooklmk.mdf logbooklmk_log.ldf (3) I want the actual SQL Server 2008 express files to be changed yes I know the issue is sharing and the copy option only applies to the local project files. I found this out by trying always copy, never copy and copy if newer. I probably have to change the .xsd folder to refer to the actual SQL Server 2008 Express file. Tried that once and it failed. Something about sharing not allowed.

Hi Folks, I downloaded SQL 2008 and installed recently.Everything perfectly works except one thing that I can't use VARCHAR AND CHAR data types anymore.I was using SQL 2005 and I had the same problem there as well. Please helpe to solve this problem

Task scheduler and System.IO.File.WriteAllText() not working properly

I have a simple console application that has this in mainline: Console.WriteLine(System.String.Format("the current directory is: {0}", System.IO.Directory.GetCurrentDirectory())); System.IO. File.WriteAllText(@"test.txt", "new contents"); Console.ReadLine(); I compile this in VS 2010 and copy the EXE to a directory named "c:\test". When I run this code in two different OS's via "Task Scheduler" and "Scheduled Task" I get different results. In Windows Server 2003 R2 "Scheduled Task" this code will create a file as I would expect, c:\test\test.txt with the proper contents written to it. When I run this same code on Windows 2008 R2 (64 bit version) "Task Scheduler" it writes the expected contents to an unexpected location, c:\C:\Windows\SysWOW64\test.txt. In both environments if I run the exe's from a command line, it writes to c:\test\test.txt as I would expect. As I understand it, if you don't fully qualify the file name in the first parameter of the WriteAllText method it will write the contents to the file in the directory of the executable however this seems to break down when running in the Windows 2008 Task Scheduler. I know I can fully qualify the file name or put the expected path in a

WPF consuming WCF Service with Windows Authentication - Not Working

Hi I am developing a WPF application in .NET 4.0 which calls a WCF Service hosted on the server developed in .NET 4.0. I want to use windows authentication for this purpose and it seems that it is not working and keep on giving me following error. The provided URI scheme 'http' is invalid; expected 'https'. Parameter name: via I do not want to use https as this is an Intranet application. The WCF Service inturn calls SQL Server SPs via Entity Framwork 4.0. Following is the Web.Config for WCF Service. <?xml version="1.0"?> <configuration> <connectionStrings> <add name="MsdbEntities" connectionString="metadata=res://*/MsdbModel.csdl|res://*/MsdbModel.ssdl|res://*/MsdbModel.msl;provider=System.Data.SqlClient;provider connection string="Data Source=lvapxdev\lvw_uat_02;Initial Catalog=msdb;Integrated Security=SSPI;MultipleActiveResultSets=True"" providerName="System.Data.EntityClient" /> </connectionStrings> <appSettings> <add key="IndexLoaderInstallDirectory" value="D:\Longview\Index Loader\"/> </appSettings> <system.web> <compilation debug="true" targetFramework="4.0" /> <customErrors mode="Off"/> <authentication mode="Windows"></authentication> </syst

CLR stored procedures asssemblies working in sql server 2005 but giving issues over sql server 2008

Hi I developed CLR stored procedures assemblies using VS2005 and deployed in sql server 2005 are working fine. Currently we are migrating to sql server 2008. The same CLR assemblies are not working in 2008 version and raising following error. Here i created CLR assemblies in sql server 2008 using 'sa' user account which is having db_owner permission over 'mydatabase'. I am getting an error message like "A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user-defined routine or aggregate". In sql logs showing messages like as -- Common language runtime (CLR) functionality initialized using CLR version v2.0.50727 from C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\. -- AppDomain 2 (mydatabase.dbo[runtime].1) created. Please let me know what may be the cause for this type of issues. Is there any specific backward compatibility settings has to be done over sql server 2008 or sql server 2008 R2 while using 2005 CLR routines? Thanks in advance.
