I am having a problem backing up a site collection, when trying to backup the collection I get the following error "Unable to read full interval from database" and "operation is not valid due to the current state of the object".
The backup does run and manages to backup 182MB of the site collection and then the backup fails, it fails at the same point what ever backup method I use e.g. STSADM, Powershell or Central Admin.
I'm getting the same error whether I use CA "granular backup" or "Farm backup", and using either STSAMD or Powershell. I can backup CA or the mysite collection but not the Home Portal site collection. I even tried installing the commuvaults
2010 agents and running a commuvault backup but this is also failing. i have included the log file entry below.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what i can do to either fix the problem or an alternative way to backup the collection or farm, I am currently taking a full SQL backup but am not sure how reliable this is as I haven't tried to restore the sites.
P.S. I am not using the "UseSQLSnapshot" parameter.

Sharepoint 2010 farm and SQL server are two separate 2008 R2 servers. Ran full backup in the administration site and ran a differential of part of the site. Cannot restore the differential. It is looking for the full.
Here is the error message:
Object WSS_Content_PubSrv failed in event OnRestore. For more information, see the spbackup.log or sprestore.log file located in the backup directory.
SPException: The restore operation cannot locate the backup file F:\MSSQL\Backup\WSS_Content\SQL_WSS_Content_PubSrv_Full_201104111900.safe. Verify that the file exists and then run the operation again.
I tried mapped F to the F drive on the SQL server but it still fails. I have full rights and the service account has read rights to that directory on the SQL server. Share is full rights
I made a backup of SharePoint farm from 2010 and tried to restore on a dev server and kept getting this error. I looked at the versions of SharePoint on both servers, and they were identical: 14.0.4763.1000
I'm posting this although it is not a question, but a statement that might help someone else. It took a while to notice that there had been an upgrade on the original server that the new dev box did not yet have... not an SP, but more like a hotfix
In Central Admin, go to "Upgrade and Migration". Click on "Check product and patch installation status". Scroll down the page of results and see if there are any links to updates that have been installed on the original server that are not on
the new server, or vice-versa. I did find a link on my original server. Clicking on it opened the update page, so I copied the URL, went to my dev server, opened that page and installed the update, and voila!
I have just configured my SP2010 backup and I want to make sure that I am not missing anything. I was hoping I could list off steps and precautions I have taken and that you could lend me some of your expertise.
Is there anything else I should be backing up??? Am I missing anything?
In the Site Collection Web Analytics Reports, the Data Last Updated time is always shown as 2.00 AM. We need to update usage data more frequently. Therefore, please let me know where to change this schedule.
Tried running following timer jobs, but no luck,
Health Analysis Job (Daily, Web Analytics Data Processing Service, Any Server)
Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Import
Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Processing
I am trying to do a backup the Backup using the Backup and Restore feature in SharePoint 2010 Central Administration. I just want to backup only the farm configuration settings only.
so I followed the GUI
Open CA Backup and Restore, checked the Farm checkbox, click Next
I chose the following:
Backup Type : Full
Data to backup: Back up only configuration settings
Backup File location : use an UNC shared location
at this point, I see the Estimated disk space required is: 1.2 GB
the server hard disk available space is 30 GB
but when i click the Start Backup, i got an error in RED saying
"There is not enough disk space. Free additional space on your hard disk and then try again. Approximate amount of space needed is 40 GB. Amount of space free on disk: 30 GB."
Why is this happened? and the estimated disk spaced required still showed at 1.2GB
If anyone had experience this problem and have a solution, please advice
I can't say, that i'm new in Sharepoint and particularly in Sharepoint 2010, but i've never used for Backup powershell, so i've got a question.
When i perform Backup using powershell i get as a result folder with a lot of .bak files within. To get know what .bak file to use for Restore of
some DB i need to open that XML file, to find by the name needed DB and to restore. The problem is, that when i find needed DB in this XML file i see three .bak files for this DB like these:
